That's not fair Denise - breakfast was my favorite thing there. But, I didn't try the sweet tea. They have sweet tea right??

Congrats, Elin! That's wonderful.

And about the air fare, if we drive to Birmingham, I can get it for around $200 pp. From Atlanta, it is $280. We have one free ticket to use, and a free ticket up to $150 (one half of a ticket). So, John said it wasn't worth driving to B'ham and just pay the extra money. I'm afraid if we wait, I won't be able to redeem my freebies, so we're biting the bullet and paying higher than I want. Rees loves, loves, loves airplanes (esp Delta as John's Dad worked for them for 35 years) and Rees doesn't tolerate long car trips. So, I guess I'm stuck paying a higher price. Oh, well! it's for Disney!

That is the funniest thing I have heard of! I can't believe someone could fly cheaper by driving from Atlanta to B'ham. We always joke that from B'ham we will have to go through Atlanta to get to heaven. We have driven to Atlanta many times to save money but I am so surprized to hear it the other way.

It would save us about $220 from B'ham, but with all the construction on I-20, I don't think it's worth it. And my in-laws live in B'ham, so that's another reason NOT to go there (they'd want to go to the airport with us-NOT!)

I definetly agree with you. But the time that you drive to Bham & get here early enough to make sure you don't miss your flight, you could already have driven to Orlando. Also, if you are looking at the direct Delta flight, unless things have changed recently, it is a TINY plane. You can't even stand up all of the way and you have to get on or off in Orlando outside!! I will never take it again. We usually take the one with one stop in Atlanta.

Amy-welcome home! Sounds like you had a great trip. Would love to hear which characters you saw to see if I'm missing any. Have a great party this weekend.

Denise-congrats on purchasing your plane tickets. It always makes the trip seem real to me then.

I'm not sure what is next, but next year is Epcot's 25th anniversary. I have seen rumors that some version of the Tapestry parade would return for it. There has also been a rumor that Dreamfinder would be added back in Imagination in some way.

I would LOVE that! I really miss both Tapestry and Dreamfinder.

Here's my take on the Oct vs Dec thing.... I do love Disney in Dec but the weather can be iffy and you've got to worry about flight delays due to snow here both coming and going and what if we get a huge storm here and come home to a driveway full of snow? You've got to worry more about getting sick in Dec. You've got to bring a lot more clothes in Dec because it can be hot(I've been there in the 90's) or really cold (I've been there with 30's at night ) Also in Dec I've got more going on at home and come home a bit frantic to get all my holiday chores done. If you've never been in Oct you've just got to give it a try. LOVE the F&W fest. MNSSHP is a blast-lots of rare characters out. Go in Oct with AP's and maybe you'll find a great SW fare to sneak in a quick Dec trip too.

Thanks, Cindy, for the extra info. I think we'll just pay the money and have Rees happy! All he plays with is his Delta airplanes and his Disney monorail. I've created a monster (and I LOVE IT!)

Yes our first! Since we have 5 boys, you can probably guess that I would love to have a little girl to buy princess things for. But either way is fine with me!

Congrats! Wonderful news! I bet you will be the best grandmother!

Amy, Kevin, Alyssa and Matthew -- welcome home -- your "brief report" sounds fabulous! Good luck with all the "to do" lists.

Kate -- hope Julia feels better soon. Hang in there!

Denise -- congrats on booking your airfare -- I'm just about ready to do that, too.

What a great monster. My DD7 came home from school with a paper with 3 wishes. Of course, one was... I wish that I could live in Disney World.

It looks like it will be ending Sept 30th. I'm not sure what changes will take affect at that time though. THere was talk that the celebration would extend through the end of the year, but I saw something a month or two ago in the AllEarsNet newsletter that it would end as scheduled.

I'm not sure what is next, but next year is Epcot's 25th anniversary. I have seen rumors that some version of the Tapestry parade would return for it. There has also been a rumor that Dreamfinder would be added back in Imagination in some way.

Thanks for the info! I figured that this would be the place to get information. I kinda hope that it does change then because I would like to see something different. I have not experienced the Tapestry parade or Dreamfinder so I don't know what those would be like. We loved all of the Mickey statues on display when we went in January 2003.

Thanks for the others that guessed about it! It gives us all something else to watch out for - like we need anything else Disney.

Kristin

Strawberry Daiguiri Cake

Cake:
1 package of Supermoist White Cake Mix
3/4 cup water
1 package (0.14 oz) of strawberry Kool-aid mix (powder)
1 tablespoon grated lime peel
3/4 teaspoon rum extract
1 10 oz carton of frozen sliced strawberries, thawed and undrained.
3 eggs

Lime Frosting:
1 tub vanilla frosting (I like the pourable kind best)
2 teaspoons grated lime peel

1. Heat oven to 350. Grease bottom of 13x9 inch pan or line cupcake pan with liners. (will make 24 cupcakes)
2. In large bowl beat all cake ingredients with electic mixer on low for 30 seconds, then beat on medium speed for an additional 2 minutes scraping the bowl occasionally.
3. For cake cook 30-35 minutes. For cupcakes cook 18-25 minutes. Both are done when toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 15 minutes before icing
4. Mix remaining 2 tablespoons of lime peel into icing and stir. It helps to heat the icing for about 20 seconds in the microwave first, and makes it easier to poor or spoon onto the cake.
5. Top with fresh, sliced strawberries.

Note: I put strawberries on the pieces I serve so the left over ones don't go bad. I also keep left overs of this cake in the fridge, it keeps a lot better.

I made this cake for my DH's birthday last year and it is now the hit in our family. I hope you guys enjoy it!

We just found out tonight that we're going to be Grandparents!! Our oldest (DH's son, my Stepson) and his wife, that got married this past June, are expecting in late November. :bounce: :bounce: I'm so excited, even if I do think I am too young to be a Grandma! I told DDIL I can't wait to take our Grandchild to Disney. She asked, "can I come too?" Oh, I suppose I will have to share!

Congrats Grandma!!!

Welcome Back Amy!!! We missed you!!!

Get to work on that birthday party!! :teeth:
