Afternoon, y'all! Rees finally slept well last pm. Didn't get up until 11am, so I think his body is trying to catch up. BK is really coughing, but seems to be ok with cough meds. Taking the kids to the park this afternoon to play. It's a beautiful day.

Any thoughts on changing my Donalds B'fast from 8:30 to 8am so that we can start AK right at opening?

Also, CP b'fast vs dinner. B'fast is at 8:05 so we get to go into the park early, good picture ops, done at opening vs dinner at 6:35pm which would be a good way to wind down the day and be done right when Wishes starts and just go to the porch of CP to watch Wishes?

Thought and opinion appreciated.

ETA: Kate, hope your doctor's appt goes well. Marti, your friend is in my prayers and hope Hunka is feeling better today.

Glad to hear that Rees is doing better!

We are doing CP at 8:05 am the day of dd's birthday so that we can get some nice photos without all the crowds. Though your "winding down" plan sounds good as well. I've never had breakfast or dinner at CP (only lunch), so I can't help much. Breakfast may feel a bit more rushed to get out into the park, but I really can't wait to see an almost empty Main Street. I sure hope that EMH days don't get switched around for any reason!

And can you believe, I threw up again this morning?!! What's up with this late second-trimester nausea?!! I guess I need more sleep and rest...

Amy :)

Are you getting enough protein? In my second trimester, I found that a few peanut butter crackers really helped through my afternoon. If I didn't get enough protein, I really had a hard time.

Good luck and get that rest (and maybe a trip to Chick-Fil-A). :teeth:

My kids are getting:

Katie - Harry Potter 4
Jacob - Chronicles of Narnia
Leslie - Thumbelina
Mary - A Bug's Life

Do you already have Harry Potter? That would probably go over big with a 15 year old.

We do have Harry Potter already. I could kick myself for giving it to them when it first came out. No one has actually had a chance to watch it yet, but I can't put it in the basket now.

Clean Sweep is actually a bad show for me! It makes me feel good about my amount of clutter...which is a lot. I had to stop watching it because I started telling my husband that I didn't have a clutter problem compared to these people...he thinks I'm nuts... :rotfl2:

:lmao: I love Clean Sweep because some of those rooms are actually worse than mine ever was!! We are better but still not clutter free....I would rather be happy and a bit cluttered than worried about showing a "clean" facade to everyone and being unhappy underneath.

Harry Potter has come out on or near my birthday the last couple of times. My birthday present was the entire family going to the theater to watch it. We don't go to the theater much but Harry Potter was a must-see. I want Harry Potter for my Easter basket. I'm afraid to put it in my kids because they'll take them with them when they leave the house!!! :rotfl:

We are looking at different movies and books for our girls for Easter. There is a set of books that my eldest just started reading and I want to get her a couple of those. Becky likes the new Fairie series by Disney and I saw some little ones out the other day. They are a little young for her but she enjoyed the Quest book and loves Tinkerbell. We never get much candy anymore because at Halloween I'm throwing out the Easter candy and at Easter I'm throwing out the Halloween & Christmas candy.

I already have some books for my kids Easter baskets, too. I know you're girls are older than mine, but have they read anything by Sharon Creech? They are excellent books (I like them all, too!).

Okay guys - I am in need of some DDA PD (or just kind reassurances that I will get through things...)

Within the span of 1 week at work, we have seen a 4-person department dwindle to 2, leaving just my director and me. We had to fire an assistant that only had been on the job for 5 weeks because she was just a walking disaster (that was last Tuesday - and was a big relief when all was said and done), and then Friday afternoon my assistant who has been with me for over 2 years closes my door and tells me that she has been enticed literally across the street to another firm to perform a job function that she has never expressed interest in! This is a girl that has professed her love for legal recruiting ad nauseam, has wanted all these opportunities to take charge of things (which I've been giving her), and now has left me high and dry, holding the proverbial bag, with less than 6 weeks remaining before I have to shepherd 28 interns through a 14-week summer clerkship program. I won't bore anyone with the details of what all this entails, but basically (particularly now w/o knowledgeable, seasoned help) I will be working 80+ hours a week as a glorified adult babysitter, while all the time keeping a smile pasted to my face.

I could really just use any prayers that you've got lying around that I can get through this, while also not losing my sanity. This part of my job is also an extreme sacrifice on my DH's part, as he rarely sees me during the summer, and I'm concerned about putting him back in this position again.

ETA: And, as inconsequential as it seems, we are also slated to celebrate my Dad's 64th b-day with him in early June at my parents' timeshare in Kauai. I may have to cancel that trip because of all that has happened/is happening, which has upset EVERYONE in my family greatly. I'm not really supposed to take vacation during the summer because of my responsibilities (my director will be in Europe for 2 weeks at the same time!), but when we booked this last summer, it was no question that the 2 assistants could have manned the ship for that week...

I'm having some anger management/pity party issues!!!!

Lots of :wizard: :wizard: for you! I can't even imagine the job of summer interns (I was a law student, though never an intern, but know all about their summers). If I thought my sister wouldn't kill me for moving to Texas when she can't I'd offer myself as your new assistant! Doesn't help much, I know, but I hope you do find somebody soon. Best of luck that the vacation works out.

Finally caught up - now I can post my great news! I succumbed to the lure of free food and booked a short trip (August 31-September 5 at Pop) and will be taking my granddaughter (17 yesterday) with me. Got all of the ADRs I asked for. I planned this on such a spur of the moment that I may try to change a couple, but so far I have Kona Cafe for breakfast our first morning, LTT for dinner the second night, Chef Mickey's the third night, Prime Time the fourth night and Tony's for lunch on the last day (I already know I'm going to try to change that to CP for a late breakfast instead). Now I need to start watching airfare.

I was going to try to go to the DDA meet in Washington, but I know the DDA will forgive me for choosing Mickey instead (the dollars just won't support both). Can't wait to start making shirts and doing the "real" planning again!

YEAH!! How fun! Is it just going to be the two of you? If so, that should be a lot of fun.

Happy planning!

KC10family,

Your SIL, DH, and entire family are in my prayers. Please keep us posted on any news. Hugs to you all during this difficult time.

Ok, I switched the Donald to 8am. Tammi, what are those other 2 things you suggested at AK? I'm not familiar with either of them. And will there be a new show where Tarzan was by Sept? anybody heard anything?

Haven't heard of her before. I'm going to the bookstore in the next couple of days so I'll look for some by her to check them out. Thanks. The one thing I have always bought for my kids are books. It was the one splurge that we always had. We go to the library as well but when it comes to their favorite books, I've always bought them.

The Maharajah Jungle Trek. It is a walk-through attraction. Here is some info on it:
A breathtaking walking journey through the lush home of myriad animal and bird species.

Gibbons emit deep-throated hoots as they swing from a Nepalese-styled monument tower to the ruins of a temple with Thai design in the mythical village of Anandapur. Revered tigers roam and play, intrigued by a herd of grazing deer just beyond the crumbling walls of a maharajah's palace. Giant fruit bats fly above the bat cliffs of Anandapur, where guests can walk right up to large open windows overlooking the bat habitat and watch them fly or hang from trees and the cliffs' rocky walls. The largest monitor lizard in the world, the Komodo dragon, which can grow up to 12 feet long, suns nearby. A spectacular aviary, complete with lotus pool, is home to beautiful ground-, mud- and tree-dwelling birds.

In this rainforest environment, Nepal, India, Thailand and Indonesia all are represented through architecture, animal carvings and ruins scattered throughout the village. Clusters of trees grow from the ruins of a beautiful tiger shrine. The exotic animals are visible from the top of a parapet, through a stand of bamboo and from a bridge that stands amid the ruins near an old herb garden.

The other is seeing Devine. She is the Vine Lady, that walks around on stilts with leaves covering her body, and blends into the vegetation. She is something quite spectacular to see, and is sometimes tricky to find.

OMG!!! I am having a bad day. Well it actually started last night.

Thank you for listening. I am off to clean more and check for possible flights for DH.

Breathe!! It sounds like a terrible, horrible, no good day. Is there someone else who can come over early and help with you with the party? I would wait to hear from the BIL once he gets in to MI to check on sister and get the scoop. Once someone is there the whole family should be able to better gauge the situation.

Prayers and pixie dust that all of this will settle down for you shortly.
Prayers for your SIL espescially.

We love the Jungle Trek! I've seen photos of Devine, but I've never seen her in person. I'll definitely be on the lookout when we go this summer.

For anyone going to ride Expedition Everest before 9/30/2006, there is a game called Yeti Vision on the disney website that you can download to your computer. If you play all three episodes, you will get a coupon to print out for a free ride photo from EE. It's really easy to play. I can't remember the exact web-site, but google Yeti Vision or search on disneyworld.com for it.

I have a pretty powerful electric mixer. This dough has too much flour to try to mix by hand and simply using a hand mixer isn't too effective either.

The dough does stick to the bag a bit, but after I refrigerate it, I cut the bag open on both sides and peel the bag off. I only break off small pieces at a time (I keep the rest in the refrigerator until I need it) and I roll the dough to about 1/4 inch thick before I cut out the shapes.

Hope this helps and I'm glad you are feeling better!
Amy :)

P.S. But I can't believe you'd "accuse" me of posting as Kevin! So much distrust around here! :rotfl2:

Thanks Amy. I think I need to invest in a mixer - I've been doing quite a bit of baking recently and have been considering it. I'll buy some ziplock bags and give these cookies ago next weekend if I'm brave enough :)

I knew it was Kevin really, it's cute that he says such nice things about you :goodvibes

I love both the Pangani Forest Trail & the Jungle Trek. It is so wonderful to see all of the animals. Tigers are my favorite and they have some beautiful ones!

We happened on DeVine our first year at Disney as a family. She is absolutely amazing. We didn't even notice her until she moved. She looks so real. It is hard to tell even when you know it is her.

I swear I think we may have been seperated at birth!!(Whatever poor soul that had to go through that pregnancy~~)Books, books, books that is what we all love here!! and Harry Potter...that is what Abi is getting in her basket because I forgot to get it the first week it was out!! We very rarely go to the regular movie theater (almost $40 for all of us to just get in :confused3 ) but we do go for the Harry movies.

I missed a trick there - I meant to tell you all on Saturday that they had announced a new show to replace Tarzan... based on the High School Musical :goodvibes

but April fools only work on April 1st so I missed the boat :rotfl:
