I am finding it difficult to deal with not being there for the first time in 12 Christmases, frankly! I wish there was a way to work out a trip, even if it was just for me to go there for 24 hours, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards, both time-wise and financially right now. Kristin has reached that point in her studies and future planning where we have items like head shots (and the printing thereof) and travel for auditions and conventions and things like that. All of these are very expensive and I know that our money is best spent there and not in viewing the castle.
As for not being here... I am reading along, but yes, I am busy at work. Getting Patrick ready to head to the NAMM Show in Anaheim in January is taking more time than I thought it would and my normal, day-to-day workload has increased because we are losing one of our staff members. I am absorbing quite a few of her students which means my lovely classes of 6-7 kids are now bursting at the seams with 9-10. More money in my pocket with every paycheck, but more work involved in that many students too. Holiday Open House last weekend and the Jazz Festival at the University this Saturday means no days off for over two weeks.
I am celebrating by going to Richmond Sunday morning to meet the girls for brunch and bead shopping at a phenomenal store! Then Kathrin and I are headed to see a first-rate touring company performance of "Cats" at the historic Landmark Theater.
And then I am looking forward to having both the girls home for Thanksgiving, so there is an end in sight... I think! Thanks for asking, Lindsay.
