Guess you didn't get my name this year! ;) :rotfl:

I've been so busy I forgot to say that I've received my ornament exchange from Elin. It is beautiful. I'll post pictures when I get the time (if all goes well that may be before Thanksgiving :lmao: ).

Elizabeth, good luck figuring out the Attendance Zealot (:rotfl: ). I just can't fathom all the trouble people go through with public schools. I missed SO many days in school, and it was for great reasons. Here is my favorite:

"Please excuse Jennifer from school today. She will be going to Kings Island to spend quality time with her family" :thumbsup2

I also worked a really nice job, was involved in HS extracurriculars, and danced professionally for most of high school. If my mom wanted to get me out of school so I could get my haircut, she did, since there was no other time!

No lies, nothing. I did well in school, so as long as that stayed true and I could keep up with my academic load (not at all an easy one, so certainly I know I was very blessed being able to do so to begin with!) then I would miss days for just about anything! :rotfl: Nobody ever batted an eye, in fact they were thrilled that my family was spending time together. :confused3

I hope DS can get by without too much "trouble" for spending time with his family!

(And sorry to all of you that disagree with this, maybe Amy :rolleyes1 , other teachers, etc.... I did extremely well in school and never got out of any assignments, etc - and believe me, our teachers were ruthless with the load! (I learned this well in college when I was prepared but still ticked comparing previous lives with college buddies ;) ... and I continue to learn this now when I hear about current HS assignments, etc)

I still appreciated the teachers and had a great relationship with them... and I look back and don't plan on raising my kids any other way! If they can get an excellent education and still spend special times with family then I'm all for it )

Our high school has an attendance policy. If you have too many unexcused absences, you have to go to Saturday school to make up the hours. Becky made it through without having to go to Saturday school and she went to Disney with us for a week every year of high school. We didn't take trips when Katrina was in high school and she ended up having to attend Saturday school at least once.

Oops, double post. Was anyone else having any problems with the boards tonight?

II really don't want her to speak. :sad2: I also have a bit of an aversion to the new Fairies stuff. Tink doesn't look the same - she should maintain the features and personality she had from the Peter Pan movie. Anything else is just wrong!

Becky has the same problem. She gets angry sometimes when she thinks that they have shown Tink in a non-flattering way.

The boards are running SO slow so im headed to lay down and watch the rest of the cmas..

tammi-just saw kenny is on so you should get to sleep soon!

goodnight all

Good night, everyone! I'm fighting a terrible cold now, and just took some nighttime cold medicine. Before my keyboard starts getting fuzzy, I'm going to curl up in bed!

Lightning McQueen does not like the microwave...

Happy Anniversary

Robyn, Just adorable pictures.

I was talking to Stephanie and asked her if her DGS was trying to dry off McQueen and she said no, He just put it in the microwave:eek:

I feel like I am so far behind!

To everyone leaving soon, have a great trip!

Robyn, loved the pictures of Lucy!

A big :grouphug: and :wizard: to all!

Thanks, I needed it. :rotfl:

It is basically a baptism but they don't call it a baptism.

The church says the bible does not give any examples of an infant being baptized only adults. The ceremony is about raising the baby in the Christian faith and when the child is old enough to accept Jesus as their savior on their own accord then they baptize the child.

Does that make sense?
Yes, thanks for the explanation.

Good Morning DDA,

Robyn - Love the latest Lucy pics, glad to hear she is doing better also.

Steffy - I had to laugh at the picture of McQueen, :lmao: , that's definitely something you'll be talking about for years, your DGS will never live it down. You never know what kid's are going to come up with.

Today is our designated "work" day, hopefully I can get the cleaning, shopping, laundry, and packing all done today.

Elin - how is Kristin feeling, hopefull she's all better now.

Janet - hope your Vegas trip was great.

Glynis - feel better soon

Karen - :wizard: Sorry about your attendent, best wishes for your surgery.

Jen - Continued prayers for your Grandfather

Jennifer - hope today finds you feeling better, loved the pics of the girls

I know I left out some, you're all in my thoughts and prayers, have a great day everyone.

I do have a question about Thanksgiving, do any of you have a recipe for an unusual side dish that you love? Something that you wouldn't necessarily see on the menu?

Tell Mickey we'll see him in a bit!

We always have Butternut Squash bake but it's really not all that unusual. It is very yummy.

White and green asperagus. Put on a cookie sheet, salt and pepper and splash with a little lemon juice. Bake in the oven until done (which isn't very long at all). Normally these go in last while we are putting everything on the table.

Morning DDA! Life's been crazy, no idea why. Work is going good and for some reason the house is staying clean enough - just no idea why there's no computer time at home for me anymore! Found out yesterday my cousin is pregnant (there really is something in the water); she's the one that got married on 7/7. I promise to get the ornament for the exchange out on Friday. No ifs, ands or buts on that one. We've picked a florist. It feels weird that everything is done - except for paying off a few people. Off to go get ready for work! Have a wonderful day DDA!

Feel better soon. :wizard:
