Good morning, DDA!

I need to get DS out the door.
Princess has swimming lessons today. I should get some sort of bonus pay for having to do this every week.

Ggggggggggggooooooodddddddddddddd Morrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg all. :cool1: :hippie:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

Because each of the invitationals is a fundraiser for the host school. They "give" a certain amount of extra entrances for people. Usually one tenth of the band....so 10 for our band. Tomorrow we are the half host school (along with the Heritage...Arapahoe gets their own tonight) so we split all concession and 90% of the gate (10% goes to CBA to pay for judges and the like) it raises almost $3000 each year for us.

I just can't see paying that much, sometimes twice a week, to see my kid.

Is it that much everytime?!?! I have to check prices for the one I want to take Terra to this weekend, but I think the local competitions are usually $8-$10 and then the one big one at the football arena in downtown St. Louis is about $30. Of course, MO doesn't operate with the same invitational/regional/state set up with continuing points and standings are you guys do so maybe that's part of the difference.

ETA: Yeah, it will be $8 and $5 for kids this weekend. Though there is alsto a $200 per band entry fee. Do you have that too?

This perfect so I am quoting it!! :yay:

there is 3 competitions (and a homecoming football game that we want to go) in less than a week so I think we will just go to the football game if anything.

3 in a week! YIKES!! Not to excuse her in anyway, but no wonder Cassidy struggles in the fall. Around here bands do competitions every 1-2 weeks (about 4-8 total depending on the school) and always on Saturdays. Of course they also took ALL day for the whole competition to play out so maybe hers aren't as long. I can't imagine having that many in a week and keeping up with homework, etc.

Well i am exhausted now! hahaha

I have good news (in addition to football ;)) When we were out tongiht, my brother told me he got my birthday present and had to tell me tonight but i wasnt allowed to freak out since we were at a bar/restaruant..so i said okay and he told me i have like 10th row seats to the Maroon 5 concert THIS SATURDAY!!! Now, thats alyssa's band--he got the tickets from the lead singer and i wanted to go SO bad!!! He didnt have extra tickets but now he has to work so hes giving them to me--HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

Now, i have to find out if my mom or dad want to go, since they knew alyssa..and if not, i need to find someone..i cant believe he is letting me go!

Very cool, Jen!!! I know that you'll have a great time!

So my daughter is pumped beyond belief:cool2: .....the kids came in 3rd in regionals and scored 11 pts higher than Saturday and 4 pts higher than their best this year. :woohoo: :woohoo:

If the scores hold true from last year the kids get to miss the first round of finals:woohoo: We won't know until Friday when all of the regionals have been completed.

:cool1: :cool1: That's awesome!!:cool1: :cool1:

o man, did you watch that game?!?! It was UGLY but we won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris and Deb--did ya see it?

Chris went to bed at 10 and clicked on the game after CSI. I ended up waking Chris up with 15 seconds to go so we both saw the final kick actually 2 kicks  That was a nail bitter.

Jen the tickets sound perfect. It was nice of your brother to give them to you.

Speaking of Birthdays...I think that I now have Hunter's gifts taken care of (at least they are all ordered) and I think I've already bought enough for Colby too. So that is the last 2 Birthday's to worry about this year. I've made a huge dent in our Christmas shopping. I noticed yesterday that my neice and nephew don't have rain jacket so I'm debating whether I should give them rain coats or rain ponchos in their Disney Kits. I could pick up WDW ponchos for all 4 of them while we are there or I could even order Nascar ones which they would probably use more. Of course LL Bean rain jackets are more practical as they would wear them around here and they do fold compactly, but they are also considerably more expensive. Decisions, Decisions.

I suppose that I should sit down today and make a list of items that I need to pick up while at WDW.

Elizabeth...Evilbay lured me in yesterday. I ended up winning a Lot of 100 pins for $150. The seller had great feedback and I plan to trade them away so I think it is a good deal. Now I'm watching a few more of his auctions. Maybe I'll have all the pins that we need for our trip by the end of the week.

Here are the reservations that I have.

Deb and Chris, I have been trying to add you two to the CG but with no luck at all.

We all want to make sure we are at the locations about 15 minutes early. Everyone has to be there at that time because some places will not seat until everyone is there.

Kristine has the ADR# for LTT but the time is 4:30.

Saturday October 20 is California Grill and that is at 7pm.

I have Anne Marie, Tammi, her Bob, Vicki, Chuck, Jo, Stephanie and I.

Sunday October 21 is La Celier at 7:30.

I have Anne Marie, Tammi, her Bob, Vicki, Chuck, Chanon, Janet, Stephanie and I.

Good morning, DDA! It was a wonderfully cool morning so maybe fall is finally on it's way! Dad's car part has yet to be delivered so who knows what cars are going where today. Guess we'd better plan on not going anywhere except to pick up Phil from work.

Have a great day everyone!

Driving Phil to work today I saw a Halloween yard inflatable that was a pirate skeleton rising up out of a treasure chest. Has anyone seen this in a store somewhere? Rachel has been looking for some Halloween decoration to get and Terra really wants a pirate skeleton one.

Here is a tip for the coffee drinkers among us.

When Stephanie and I went to WDW in 2005, we knew the coffee they have in the rooms is just not the best, so we brought those single coffee pods. I think I used 3 for a pot each morning and it gave us about a cup and half each. Then you are not dealing with filters and coffee cause it is all in one!!!

All of the competitions this season have been $10/adults and $7/kids for each part of the competition (prelims and finals) with a combo ticket available for a discounted price...usually $15 and $10.

Tell you the truth I don't know about the bands.....the competition is usually invite only...I am sure there is a small fee but not $200 a band....oooooooooohhhh I was wrong State is almost $500 a band...can't find information on the others.

Now I'm watching a few more of his auctions. Maybe I'll have all the pins that we need for our trip by the end of the week.

I am watching a few auctions right now, and bidding on some from the guy we bought 40 from earlier. He is the guy who does all of his pins individually but will ship them free if you buy 25 or more. I am coming out better than the $2.30 per pin I wouls pay with Darlene and Nena, and I am avoiding the problem of DS and DH wanting to keep them.;) I did win 2 lots the other night but it is only 18 pins total - Pooh and Minnie.
The thing about feedback is that people who aren't familiar with scrappers will post positive feedback. That's what happened to us with 2 sellers. We got scrappers and didn't realize until later that's what they were. Of course you can't edit feedback so we were stuck. There is a thread on the Collectors board right now about that problem. My new rule is that I won't buy cast lanyard pins from anybody, and I only bid on pins that I can SEE. No grab bags, no "mystery lots", no "these are some of the pins you may receive". The seller also has to have a return policy listed. I hope your pins are good ones!!:thumbsup2

That sounds cool! I haven't seen anything like that.

Jen - Enjoy the concert!

We usually bring a bag of Starbucks and some filters for our long trips. I may have to give your method a try in December since it will be the dreaded "carry-ons only"!:rotfl2:

The only competition that is during the week is Regionals (at least the only one LHS competes in). It just so happens that there is one competition after regionals this year...that didn't happen last year Regionals was the last competition of the year except state.

Homecoming week is usually a bear for the marching band kids anyway.

Cassidy is struggling because once again she is not turning in work that she has done. :sad2: Abi is struggling because she isn't doing so well on tests.
