Nope - we don't have any pop warner gyms in the area to my knowledge

Pop Warner isn't a gym; its an organization for children's football that has expanded to have a section of cheerleading for kids. Since you are the google god, check out the web and see if this is a viable option for you.

Ok, I promise that I'll try to get some pictures this weekend. I'm really stepping out of my comfort zone to do it, but it's time!

Come on Glynis - don't you remember my earlier post - we aren't strangers, we're family that's a little strange. Big Difference!

So post a couple for your family!

Saw this in another post and thought you'd all like to see it: (I believe people sometimes call this scraplifting....)

It was in a guy's signature -- give me a minute and I'll go back through the boards I was on. I've been on budget, cb and tpas for only a sec. I'll be back and give you the link.

Congratulations Jennifer and Kyle. Now you can relax more.

Glynis- Congratulations on the weight loss. I know you look great and will look fantastic in any picture taken. Just remember to :teeth:

What's your regular size (pretend you aren't pregnant :rotfl2: ). After being pregnant with Matt my shoe size went up a half size - same thing with my SIL.

So I'm regularly 8 and bought 6 - what are you?

The Athens or Nile sound like I might like them. I tried on the Beach Crocs at Cabelas and the Xl was too small, according to how I was told they should fit. I am assuming now it was the women's size, I figured they were unizex sized at the time, all the Crocs were at the same place. I found out later they are not. So I never bothered to see if they have men's sizes. I wear a size 11 to 12 women's shoe, I have big feet what can I say.

The thought of my feet getting bigger if I get pregnant scares me. What will I wear then, I already have the hardest time finding shoes. I have been looking since January and everything I find is either too short or way too wide or my heel slips out of the back. I love wearing shoes without a back or with an open toe but I can't wear them to work. Oh the fun I have finding shoes. But don't even get me started on finding clothing for myself. :rolleyes2

I made it about a month ago for somebody celebrating their b'day at Boardwalk Inn. Maybe it's in his signature. I thought it came out cute. I've got a ton of new designs in my gallery, if anyone cares to look.

Not sure who was looking for the picture of the Kilimanjaro Safari ride vehicle for the wheelchair. Here is a description and pictures on the Mouse Planet website. You have to scroll down to the Kilimanjaro Safari under Africa. Not sure if this is detailed enough for what you are looking for or not.

Denise - that took me forever to find - and I'm NOT proud of the thread that it is on....because I posted on it! But here is the link to the thread...NO COMMENTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY PLEASE!!

Yep, that's who I made it for. I think it's really cute. Took forever to find all the Fab 5 for the b'day. BTW, I love Little House on the Prairie and have all the books. The kids really like the adapted versions for preschoolers.

I thought I had seen that design before, but I haven't - I must have recognized the lettering - it seemed vaguely familiar. I posted it here thinking somebody in our world probably designed it. Nice job Denise! I love how vibrant your colors are.

You realize you could have linked us straight to his signature don't you :lmao:

and I didn't see your post on the same page as his - so we would not have realized that you posted :lmao:

you can discuss it with my DH - he was laid off from work for 6 months when we first got married and he started his day watching Little House - then went searching for a job in the afternoon - hmmmm.....I forgot I supported him back then - makes me feel less guilty now - oh wait - he got six months of severance when he was laid off - guess I didn't support him - oh well - it is a nice thought anyway!!!!

Night all. teach preschool tomorrow and my prenatal class all day Saturday. Oh, and we teach Sunday School on Sunday. I'm going to be wiped out by Sunday afternoon!

I need advice:

Julia has begged me for the last few months to do cheerleading -so I called our local cheerleading gym and they told me tuition was $45 a month, then there were competition fees around $50 for 3 local competitions and the uniform - and they get less expensive uniforms b/c they grow so quickly - this seemed reasonable to me and so I enrolled Julia in tumbling class at the gym and told her she could do pee wee cheer next year. I was told by several people that the pee wee option was for people who want to see how they feel about it and an affordable option.

None of what I was told seemed out of line to me

Tonight they released all the information for next year.

Listen to these fees:

$130 coaches fee
$45 monthly tuition
$35 annual registration fee (which I paid when I enrolled her in tuymbling)
$125 uniform (this is supposed to be a cheap one?!!?)
$8 in hairbows
$12 bloomers for under skirt
$40 practice uniform
$150 warm up suit
5 competitions averaging $75 each (3 in other cities about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away so if they are early we will have to stay overnight in a hotel)

and this does not include gas, pictures, crap she will want to buy at competitions, end of the year banquet and what if she outgrows the $400 required clothing?!?!?

I figured out it will be close to $1500 for her to cheer next year without all the extras

I am mad that I paid the annual registration fee - I think they hid a lot of fees from me - they told me the uniform was about $120 - um think they could have mentioned the other $280 in required clothing?

and now - I have a little girl who is going to be crushed - I told her she could cheer -

I told her tonight it was too much money and I was going to see if I could find another gym but I am not sure anywhere else will be much better!!

Any ideas out there?

Here we do have different cheer teams for different places, but I think what we have at the Rec Center is good for the (teaser). which is a class that teaches just the basics. Then there is the one for the kids that really get into cheering but i think the total costs amount to about $90 or so. The kids can do the fund raiser which could cut the cost some. It is a shame when kids really want to get involved and it ends up to be so much money.
I can relate to your frustration and hope Julia will understand.
Maybe if Julia tries the tumbling class or even a gymnastics class, that might work.

I am going to make some calls tomorrow -

we don't have a rec center - and the Y doesn't have cheer classes - I found a place that has 90 minute recreational classes - but I am not sure of the ages

Ok, DDAs.... it's been a loooooong freakin' day.

I haven't caught up yet, but I promise I will. While Kyle and I were out to dinner trying to celebrate, we got a phone call that my great grandfather is in ICU at a hospital nearby. We detoured there, really unaware of what was going on...

He's 86, but - as far as we knew - healthy as can be. He went in this morning for some minor procedure (so we were told).... and now he's very ill :confused3 It turns out he was having all sorts of tests done for some things that have been going on the last week or so, but didn't tell anyone. Well, when he got to the hospital the docs said he didn't look well, but realized he had come in because he was feeling bad.

Within the hour he was worked up, transferred to the MICU and has steadily declined. He is now septic, but they can't really get antibiotics going until they stabilize his blood pressure, which is absolutely refusing to respond to the 4 meds he's on.

Really, if you add this to your prayer list, please add my extended family. These times are hard for all involved, but there are a few second cousins in particular that are REALLY, REALLY not taking this well. They won't go back to see him, but won't go home and get some rest, so they've been sitting in a circle just staring at one another or into space since about 11am. The food we brougth tonight was the first they'd eaten.

Even closer to my heart is my poor daddy. He isn't all that close to his father, and he always says "anything good that I am I got from {my grandpa}". He's sort of the family clown, so he's "doing his duty" and keeping everyone laughing to try to raise their spirits a bit. Which tears my heart apart because I know HE'S hurting, and he won't deal with it until everyone else is taken care of. :guilty:

So pray for peace for them, please. And of course for the doctors, etc involved... but mostly for them.

Love you all! Thanks so much for support..... in good times and in the not as good. :grouphug:

Jennifer;

Congrats to you and your husband; I know from experience how wonderful Children's hospital is!!!

:wizard: To you and your family, I will keep all of you in my prayers!!!

Take Care!!!
