Glynis - Yay for the end of the trial! I am so glad Alan will get to spend some time with the family! And I am glad you will have another pair of hands to help!:goodvibes

Thanks, Chanon. I guess I won't be booking my fabulous 16 night WDW vacation anytime soon.:guilty: If DH ends up stuck with a specialist route he will bid for vacation dead last. At that point it isn't really even a bid, it is an assignment of whatever week is left over. And since the specialists aren't guaranteed that their days off will be back-to-back he could end up with only 5 consecutive days off for vacation as opposed to 10. Now you see why he doesn't want that position. So DH may not have any time off in August, or he may be stuck in some horrible route that pays nothing while he looks for a new job. That would put a serious crimp in my vacation savings, and depending on the new job he might not have any vacation time until 2009. It may be that the best I can do for '08 is a few days at Pop with DS and all counter service! (But it would still be Disney.)

Glynis, :yay: for Alen coming home now and getting 2 days in a row off.

I just completed the LAST outfit for our vacation, I promise!

I thought of Vicki and Tia the whole time I made this. I remember them talking about the Mr. Potato Head parts, and making lists for them.

Here it is, I think that Leighanna will wear this to H&V lunch.

The applique that I stole from a too small tshirt that Leighanna had, also came with pieces that you can stick to the face via velcro.

Here are a couple of different faces that I did.

I made a pocket on the skirt to hold the pieces when they aren't in use.

Time for bed!
Good-night all!

Tom, you are one talented sewer. That is an adorable dress. The pieces are really cute as well. What a neat idea to make the pocket to store the extra parts.

Chanon - I think you are right about it being "too red". But those are really pretty. Garnet is DS's birthstone.:)

Momboss called and said I will probably be here until 9 PM. I was hoping tonight would be earlier than last night! I'm tired! And DH made this lovely parmesan chicken for dinner. The only thing here for dinner is instant oatmeal. My fault - I should have picked up some groceries today. Princess still eats little Gerber entrees and my bosses eat take-out a lot, so the food choices here are a little narrow.

Well, so much for my happy day. About an hour ago, my front door gets flung open, and Jacob's best friend comes in just screaming, tears rolling down his face. He immediately starts to rip off his shirt, screaming, "they're stinging me!" I got his shirt off, and 2 wasps fell off his back. I stomped on one, but the other flew up to the ceiling. I left it alone for the time being. I looked at Connor's back, and saw little red bumps all over it. I grabbed his hand and his shirt, and ran with him to his house. As I'm leaving the yard, I see Jacob and another friend running to the house. Connor was really starting to scream, so I just focused on him. Luckily, his dad was outside, and I turned him over to his dad, and ran back to my house. Jacob was running to meet me, just howling at the top of his lungs. He could feel something inside his shirt, too, so I grabbed it and ripped it off him, and saw another wasp on his back.

We got inside the house, and had to deal with the wasp on the ceiling. Once he was out of there, I turned my attention to Jacob. He had been bitten twice on his stomach, twice on an elbow, and once on his head. I gave him some ice, and then got some benedryl and tylenol into him. He's feeling a bit better now, but he looks pretty pathetic.

Connor's dad came over to see how Jacob was doing, and told me poor little Connor has 16 bites on his back, and 8 on his stomach. Poor sweetie!

I guess those boys learned their lesson and will not be hitting hollow logs with sticks anymore!

Glynis - Oh, no! Poor Jacob! I hope the stings aren't too painful and they heal quickly!:wizard: I hope Connor feels better soon, too!

Princess was having a drink of water before bed and she tripped and banged her lip on the cup lid. Her first bloodshed when I've been on duty.:sad2: I bet she will have a fat lip tomorrow. The inside of her top lip looks horrible - her tooth made a hole in it.:scared:

So I am caught up, now I have to do more laundry and unpacking

So it was 92 degrees when I left work tonight at 5pm.:confused3 :confused3 I thought I was going to come home to cool fall weather. Apparently not.

Work hasn't been that bad. I better go knock on wood, as I think I am almost caught up.:cool1: :dance3: :woohoo:

I've been uploading pictures tonight. I guess it helps if I don't keep uploading the same pictures from Key West onto different days.

I gained 7.2 pounds on my trip.:guilty: But I have hoped right back on the bandwagon, so hopefully it will leave quickly.

Happy Birthday!
Happy Anniversary!
Feel Better Soon!
:wizard: that the school problems start disappearing
:wizard:  to those of you who lost someone
Have fun to those of you on trips or upcoming trips
Slow down and smell the roses
Relax and enjoy life

Sending:wizard:  and prayers to all of you

I gotta go to Valley Forge tomorrow for work. I think I am heading to bed soon as I haven't been to bed before midnight since I am home.

Is it slow on here today, or what??? Where is everyone?

It is slow.

Dadboss just phoned to sat he is on his way, so that's good! Light at the end of the tunnel!

Princess has been tired all day. At dinner she kept telling me "Night-night?" Now she is in bed and she isn't falling asleep. I wonder if her lip is sore? Maybe I should have given her some Advil. I'll let Dadboss know she might need a dose if she doesn't go to sleep soon.

It is mandatory and it is a huge chunk of his grade. And the way it is spread out it will be a huge chunk of his grade over multiple marking periods. I noticed last night that it says "no open flame" may be exhibited. OK, I don't want to exhibit it, but it will be necessary for the project. Can we use open flame as long as we don't bring open flame to the actual Scince Fair? I need that to be clarified. But I have a way around it if they say we can't use open flame at all. Since he was in 2nd grade the projects have been mandatory, but now the format is much more formal. The way it is this year is the way I remember Science Fair, so it isn't unfamiliar, it's just a pain.

Well, a weekend away is better than a weekend at home, even if it isn't WDW!:thumbsup2

I am not having a good day. I am very cranky.
I was just dreading swimming. The lesson was OK, but when I went to dress Princess I discovered someone used ALL of the diapers out of the diaper bag!:scared1: So she had to go commando for the ride home. Luckily she didn't wet in her seat. I didn't even think about checking the bag - it didn't occur to me that yesterday was Monday and she was at school so I haven't used the bag since last Friday. Duh!
I called DH after I got a diaper on Princess. Tuesdays are "one on one" meetings with his supervisor. Well, lucky us, DH's route is being taken away in about 2 weeks.   The supervisor just gave him this song and dance about how this is procedure and he knows how hard this is for DH (NO, he doesn't know crap because it isn't HIS paycheck at stake!). EVERYTHING is based on seniority, only seniority. Performance and merit count for NOTHING. DH is the #2 producer in his district, he never misses a day of work EVER, he picks up tons of extra shifts, goes to help other drivers when he finishes his own route, and NONE of that counts for anything. The route goes up for bid and whomever has the most seniority when the bid closes wins. Period. DH will be given a crummy route or he can become a "specialist" which are the guys who cover the routes for vacations. He thought he WANTED to be a specialist but after talking with several of them he doesn't want to after all. Well, those are his only 2 choices.:sad2: He had interviewed with Blue Bell (ice cream) before Frito hired him and they didn't hire him because he didn't have route experience at the time, just retail. Now he has 2.5 years of route experience so I think it might be time to revisit Blue Bell. If Frito doesn't want to retain one of their top salesmen then DH needs to look for a company where performance DOES count for something. They obviously plan to jerk him around and they expect him to just sit there and take it. Well, since he didn't have any solid info before today (they said back in April that he MIGHT lose his route in October) I guess he will be stuck with a crummy position for awhile, but I am encouraging him to get out ASAP. As long as he can find something else that pays the same amount and has about the same benefits we'll be just peachy. If they stick him with a bad route his paycheck will decrease, which adds insult to injury. I just don't understand how a company that struggles to retain employees thinks it is good business to shaft the good people they do have.

Oh no. It sounds like they have strange employee policies. I understand his frustration, but I also see the otherside of the coin as my degree is in business management. What keeps people at the company is the promise that someday they will have seniority. I don't know what I'd do in your situation :wizard: :wizard: That the right move becomes apparent.

What do you guys think of these with the all brown dress? I'm afraid that they might be too "red" once I get them in hand...
Garnet is a red stone, I'm not sure how it would look with a brown dress :confused3 Though brown is the new black which means that it is a neutral so red should be ok, right?

Yeah on Alan coming home. :wizard: :wizard: for Jacob and his friend. I had that happen to me once while riding my motorcycle. I couldn't get the bike off to the side of the road fast enough  Hopefully neither of them have complications.

Becky - I was thinking of you on Sunday. Samantha Brown was on the Travel Channel on a cruise. Not the Disney one, but it made me think of you anyway. Can't wait to hear all about your trip! I'm glad you are getting caught up at work!:)

I opened a new window to post, but I can't for the life of me remember what I was going to post :confused3 It's old age setting in I tell you :rotfl2:

So I lost a couple of lbs while I was sick. I'm using this as my incentive to stay on track and not regain it. I really want to get back to my lowest weight before our October trip as some of you might have to see me in a bathing suit, Yuck. Dieting just sucks and it isn't easy by any means. Those of you that have done so well impress me to no end. I bow to all of you.

Deb - IF DH had started there back when he started the grocery store where he used to work he would have 19 years under his belt. BUT he is turning 40 this year. He has 2 years at Frito. He will NEVER have seniority because there are WAY too many guys ahead of him. Guys who have 5-10 years in right now who won't retire or die before DH retires or dies. He got to this job too late for the "seniority" thing to ever be beneficial to him. And for them to refuse to recognize or count performance for anything at all is just a slap in the face. "Thanks for doing a great job and being a top performing employee with no missed days EVER! We're putting your route up for bid and you'll land where you land, and if your family starves to death you should know that we really appreciate you." Nice.

Elizabeth - I hope everything works out for your family! I'm sure it will in the long run. :grouphug:

Glynis - That's great news!!! Make sure you and Alan have a Date Night scheduled for just the two of you!!!

In the interest of time I am going to "ditto" this!

Also, Heather... we have not heard from olderDD about the pathology report today. That either means she didn't hear anything from the doctor, or the info she did get was as we had been assuming... that all is well now. As for my MIL, she is still in the hospital but things ARE looking better for her, so we are hoping she will come home one day this week. Thanks for asking! Sounds like you could use some major PD at your house this week too!! :goodvibes
