Ok, if you could keep your fingers crossed for the next little while, I'd appreciate it. It's sort of silly, but...

I got a $30 Ding fare for both legs of our September trip (a day earlier, but whatever ). I jumped all over it, because we had JUST given in to the fact that we were probably going to just drive with 4 people, etc because it was so expensive.

Well, I'm so excited I'm bouncing around my house. I call my mom and tell her, and her words were - I swear - "Oh, I kept meaning to tell you...."

Holy crap. It turns out she CAN'T stay until the 22nd, just forgot to tell me. So, now she's trying to get in touch of my dad to see if they can cancel the trip that would conflict with getting back then (even though she's known it was the 22nd since we started talking, just "didn't think about it" ). He is pretty set on the trip, but IF he says yes, fine. IF he says no, then I have to hope they can be picked up in Columbus on the way to wherever they are going. And IF that works, I have to hope Southwest will still have the DING fair available for the day before (it's available right now), and that we'll just have to pay the change fee. Which still sucks.

That's way too many ifs for my liking, and my mom is taking FOREVER to call me back......

Just so I'm prepared if necessary, DING! fares are only good online, right? So how do I go about changing the currently booked flight to the new, with a ding fare still?

I know several of you have done this, when a Ding (or better ding) came along...

well, AFTER Baby Lucy is born. And I am thinking the Inner Harbor would be a great place for a DDA meet! What do the rest of you think? We could go one late summer or early fall weekend.

We LOVED the Inner Harbor! Kyle is still bummed that we disliked the UMD and JH programs so much, or we would have definitely ended up in Baltimore!

Jennifer - first, let me assure you that there is NO change fee charged by SWA. If you change to a cheaper flight, you get the amt held in credit for future use. But if the cheap fare is gone, yes you have to pay more, but still no change fee.

What I did when I canceled and rebooked, I called a ticket agent and had my original flight canceled. You get a credit and confirmation number. Then when you go online to book your flight, after you put in passenger info there is a box to click that says "apply travel funds". That takes you to a page where you plug in your confirmation number of your credit and also the cardholders name that purchased the original ticket. If you have any other questions, let me know. Marci - Yep, Mustang Donuts. I don't think I have ever had any donuts from there. Might be worth a shot some weekend when I feel like standing in a really long line. It is raining AGAIN, so I hope your boys can get some of those games over with before the next season starts!

Jennifer - I hope you get your flights worked out! I looked at December airfare again today and it is even HIGHER than it was last week!

Well, I feel incredibly guilty about it all (even though it was totally my mom's fault), but we're keeping the tickets as they are! I still can't get totally excited yet, because I just hate the position I put my mom in. And to top it off, we're leaving ON my Dad's birthday now (he can't come with us because of work conflicts), going to a resort he would love more than anyone I know (VWL) and making him cancel their trip that he was looking forward to. I just talked to him for a few minutes asking him if I could please try and switch their flight, etc, and he truly seems like he doesn't mind. I guess that's what Dad's are for, among other things Sheesh! I'm such an emotional goober.

I need to just look at it this way:

I BOUGHT MY AIRFARE FOR SEPTEMBER! (And paid $321, including all taxes and fees, for 4 people round trip on n/s flights)!

When the paramedics got to him, he had no pulse & they were able to bring him back. Right now he is comatose & has been life lighted to a hospital that specializes in heart attacks. Kathy was told that they hope he pulls through.

Please pray, say a good thought, or whatever you do for Butch. He just has to make it through this

I need the power of the DDA to say a prayer for one of my co-workers, Butch & his family. His wife called me at work today & he had a massive heart attack. When the paramedics got to him, he had no pulse & they were able to bring him back. Right now he is comatose & has been life lighted to a hospital that specializes in heart attacks. Kathy was told that they hope he pulls through.

Please pray, say a good thought, or whatever you do for Butch. He just has to make it through this
