Good morning, DDA!

Well, it's off to bed with me. I need to try to get some sleep before this picnic tomorrow - just checking the weather forecast one last time. It definitely doesn't look promising - I hope it either stays away completely, or becomes a total wash-out so we can in good faith cancel it. I'm afraid it will rain just enough to keep our guests away and us all wet, but not enough to warrant throwing all that $$ down the drain. I've packed myself an extra change of clothes, shoes, and beach towels - I'm afraid I could need them tomorrow.

Good night, DDA, and happy Memorial Day! :goodvibes

Well, it's just gray out there right now. I hope you manage to get the picnic in and get home before it pours again!:wizard:

I am tempted to bid on some of those dream ears on ebay as all last fall the boys wanted some but we never won any. DH thinks I'm nuts but my kids love collecting ears and they have the DL golden ones from the 50th a Christmas pair Halloween pair as well as regular ones. Seem they need the dream ones to round things out.:confused3 :rotfl:

Good luck! At least the ears won't be counterfeit, which is what has happened with some of our pins. Yet I am still bidding on the little buggers.

Yeah for the contract!!!! That process wasn't bad at all this time around was it? I'm glad that everything is falling into place for you at last. :cool1:

The process wasn't bad. Part of that it because I spoke to the mom at length on the phone, so when I met them it was more like a combined 1st/2nd interview. Usually I meet the family, then I go back for contract negotiations, then DS & DH meet the family. DS has been asking when he will get to meet them, but we haven't planned anything yet. It also helped that I e-mailed them my current contract and a couple of websites with templates so they could see what I had in mind.

So i just watched m aroon 5 on the Today show...The last song they sang was the song they dedicated to Alyssa when she was alive-She will be loved...While they were singing it, i noticed Adam (lead singer) had Alyssa's bandana wrapped around his guitar strap. Lyss wore that bandana ALL the time s o itw as so neat to see him have it

Neat!

I am being lazy today. I do plan to fininsh up the laundry, then we'll see if I can accomplish anything else.

Good news for all of you with thirsty children.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thirsty children will soon get a break at Walt Disney World. The theme park has announced a new policy for its table-service restaurants.

Disney announced this morning that its table-service restaurants will start providing free refills on children's drinks, including juices, milk, bottled water and soda, starting May 31.

The free-refill policy will not apply to specialty drinks.

Last year DS was 10th percentile for one and 15th percentile for the other - I can't remember which was height and which was weight. At 5th grade graduation DS was taller than ONE little girl. Some of those girls were taller than ME, and I am 5'6"! None of the other boys were as little as DS. The one who is just a little taller is quite a bit stockier.

My cousin would be that tall kid, except he is only 120 pounds and 5'9" tall and he is in the 5th grade and 12 years old. He is as tall as me, right now and already taller then his parents. My brother used to be built the same way as a child tall and lanky, he is still tall 6'3" but no longer lanky. They are guessing my cousin is going to be 6'6'. His 9 year old brother is 5' and weighs about 105 pounds.

What do you have in your first aid kit? After a small injury at the park the other day, I realized that I really need to get one set up. I looked at the prepackaged ones, but didn't find what I wanted. I'm thinking I'll just get a bag/box and make my own.

I am going to preface this with this is what stays in my car/ is used for Girl Scout events so it may have more in it that what you might want. I also go away often so I have a well stocked set of supplies because I never know what I might need and I find I am more likely to use stuff if I have it. I am a klutz and I know it.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to restock/ check on my kit. Most of this is in a backpack but some is also in a duffle that stays in my car. I have a smaller bag inside the backpack with the stuff in case I don't want to carry everything. This is way more then you need for a basic kit but I got sick of not having the things I needed when I was out and about away from home so I made kits so I would have stuff I need. You can pick and chose what you want/need.

In Backpack In Duffle
Bandaids of varying sizes Blanket

:wizard: :wizard: that Colby does not get an infection and he doesn't have much pain.

Ack - I was worried about this! We saw it tonight, and as I haven't really been around lately, I neglected to check the boards and see if there was any additional footage at the end to warrant staying. As we were hungry and ready for dinner, we didn't stay through all the credits. Anyone want to PM me with the final bits?

Jonathan and I enjoyed it, although it was long. We followed it pretty well, although there are definitely a lot of different things going on. I also think they definitely left the possibilities open for another film for sure. Dead Man's Chest is still our favorite, though.

And I agree, Glynis - I've never thought Orlando Bloom was much to get excited about, but he's definitely looking better in this film! ;)

Let me know if you've already found out or not. I'd be happy to PM you with the details, and the information I found out from an interview with the writers. It kind of changes how things look at the end.

Prayers and pixie dust needed, Please!

I know the power of the DDA and just wanted to post this quickly before I leave.

The property supervisor of my Mom's complex found her laying on the floor of her apartment. Her gentleman friend had tried to call her for two days and got no answer. He called the supervisor and she found her there.

From the little news that I have so far, she was very disoriented, but conscious. They have rushed her to the hospital via ambulance, so I am on my way!

I will let you know what is going on when I find anything out!

Again, thanks!

Tom I hope your mom is doing Okay. Prayers said.

As we remember the family members who have gone before us.....I want to take a minute to thank the men and women who have fought for our freedom and those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. THANK YOU!!!

Happy Memorial Day!!!

I couldn't put it any better, so I'm quoting Theresa!

Hve a great day everyone!

I can use prayers and good thoughts for my Grandpa. Remember how at Christmas we had him go to the ER because of arthritis and Gout. Well he was supposed to go to an arthritis specialist he had an appointment but because his pain and problems had went away he never went.

Well he ended up back at the ER on Thursday or Friday for the same reason. Sorry my days are running together. He is in tons of pain and can hardly walk again. They of course sent him home with meds and now has an appointment with the arthritis specialist for August. I am hoping they will be able to get an earlier appointment or that the meds he has now work, so his pain goes away. He is staying at my Aunt's with my Grandma as she can't care for him with him having a hard time walking. This stresses her out and she has several health problems of her own aggravated by stress.

Tom - I hope your mom improves over the next couple of days! How scary for all of you! I am sure she will feel much better once she is hydrated again.
FIL used to have "mini strokes" (I think the technical term is trans ischemic attacks) where he would be very loopy for 3 or 4 days, then be back to normal. His Dr. said not to even bother with 911 because there wasn't anything that could be done - he would wake up on his own and not really need medical attention.

Alan and I saw it last night! I loved it!!! I can't wait to see it again! I am glad that I watched the first 2 before I saw this one. I was so happy to see Barbossa back!!! He was wonderful!
We went to see POTC3 last night and I loved it as well. I don't know why it is getting such bad reviews from the critics. I think I enjoyed this one more than #2. Oh, and Bob figured out what the very end was going to be (the part after the credits).

I'm glad you liked it!!!

I don't know why it's getting bad reviews, either! I thought it was great! It was wonderful to see Barbossa back, and the competition between him and Jack was super! I can't wait to see it again!!!

I watched them, too! I thought about you and Alyssa the whole time they were playing.

:goodvibes: it was pretty neat seeing her mom and stepdad in the audience, front row...It had to be so hard for Adam to sing Alyssa's song with them right there..i noticed the bandana and yeleld to my parents to look for it...i had known they were giving him the bandana, but didnt expect to see it!

apparently , they were supposed to do an interview with m5 and the family, but either they didnt do it, or did it before i tuned in

so we didn't get a whole lot done today except buying a grill and looking at other kitties. We put in an application for this cutie:
http://picasaweb.google.com/everycreaturecounts/CatsForAdoption/photo#5035910190244453458

She was so sweet and playful...the only other kitty in the running was a kitten and that girl will have no problem getting adopted a 6 year old just might.
She is so cute! When will you know if you get her?

Just a quick post to say graduation and the party went fantastic. Bill finally made it here from Japan JUST in time to make graduation - long story which I'll share later but he made graduation just before the graduates walked in. It was a great party. All that is left at the house are my mom, sister & her kids, brother Bill and his infant son. And of course, Chuck, Katrina, Becky & I. Becky is off to the all-night grad party and I'm off to bed.
I'm glad the party was a success. How surprised was Becky to see your brother?

Now that I'm caught up I'll share our day with you. We got up bright and early and took the boys to the fishing Derby. They loved it. The pond was just stocked yesterday. There was a 5 fish per child limit. The kids had caught there limit in the first 1/2 hour. They didn't catch the biggest or smallest fish so no trophies, but it was good fun. We had to wait 2 hours longer for the door prizes. Colby won a new reel and Hunter won the ugliest fish pillow I've ever seen :lmao: They also got goody bags with a bobber, hooks and fake bait. They fed us grilled hot dogs and cheeseburgers, chips and soda. Great morning. Then we went to my parents home to open the pool. While we were there Colby ran up onto an empty car hauler trailer that was on the lawn. You know the kind that are made with pressure treated board for the floor. Yep, he ran onto it BAREFOOT. He had/has at least 30 splinters in each food :scared1: We took him home and soaked his feet then tried to remove the splinter. We quickly gave up as there were way too many and he was screaming everytime I picked at one. So off to the ER for us. This was at 2 PM and I needed to be at work at 3 PM. I called to say that I would be late. Thankfully the ER was quiet so they saw him quickly. The ER doctor said that he was only going to remove the bigger pieces. The rest will either surface or be absorbed by the body :confused3 He scrubbed his feet and used a scalpul to get a few out. They covered his feet with bacatracin and gauze and home we came. Now we need to soak/scrub his feet several times a day to keep them clean to prevent infection and hopefully to work some more splinters out. We go back on Tuesday for a wound check to make sure that he hasn't gotten infected. Needless to say he cannot walk comfortably. I ended up being 45 minutes late for work. It started slow. I was lucky enough to get a party of 15 (that's the biggest party I've had at once to date). I ended up only doing 25 people, but that's not bad for a sunday night. I came home and had to do the foot scrubbing then read my little angel a book. He has suddenly (thankfully) begun to enjoy being read to. I told him that we should do it everynight :goodvibes Now I'm able to relax for the first time all day.
Poor Colby!! I hope he gets some relief soon.

I need to find something to do today!

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day, friends.
We are doing a small cookout with another family if you want to come by for burgers around 5ish! :thumbsup2

Good Morning DDA!

Thanks to all for all the good thoughts and prayers for my Mom.

She has been admitted into the hospital for further tests. She has all the signs of having a stroke, but her CAT scan came out normal.

She is very disoriented, and dehydrated. She is on IV fluids to help with that.

She didn't know me by name, but did recognize me. She knew my brother Chuck, but called him Charles-Charles-Charles. She thought that was his name.:confused3

She doesn't know what day it is, or how long she was lying on the floor.

The apartment manager said that the last time she checked on her was on Friday morning around 10:00 a.m. Well, her beads were on the door at that time. (Each resident puts a string of beads on their doors in the morning to let everyone know that they got up, and are alright. They take them off by noon, so in theory, she was o.k. at that point.)
Friday evening her friend had tried to call her, but got no answer. He called again on Saturday night, but got no answer again. Finally on Sunday he called the apartment manager and she checked on her and found her on the floor.
The doctors think that she is going to be o.k., but are running tests today to see if they can find out what happened.

Once I knew she was O.K. I went into work. So here I am, tired and exhausted, but too worried to sleep. I will check in on her again this afternoon and head into work again tonight.

Again, many thanks to all my DDA friends for all the prayers and support.

Becky, lots of good thoughts and prayers for your grandfather too!

Talk to you all later!
I'm so glad to hear that it wasn't anything more serious. I hope her memory improves over the next few days. Continued prayers for you all.

You said that so well, so I'm just going to say DITTO!

Good news for all of you with thirsty children.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
:dance3: :yay: :cool1:

Debbie - those kitties were adorable.

Elizabeth - Glad to hear contract negotiations are in the home stretch!

I am waiting for Bob to get here with his DD then we are all going to the pool this afternoon. I'm thinking the water is going to be mighty cold! I've got cheesey macaroni salad and brownies made, the veggie tray and cucumber salad are done, my girlfriend is bringing the baked beans.....I think we are all set. All I need to do yet is make the hamburger patties and cook them. YUM!

sounds like everyone has fun plans for today.

It has stopped raining for now. Jeff has to go in to work at 2pm, I think I will call my mom and see what she has planned for supper tonight. As I hate to turn the oven on and heat the house up. I like when Jeff opens as then he will grill what ever meat we are having.

Hamburgers sound good.

She is so cute! When will you know if you get her?

Yummy afternoon plans, Tammi!!!

Congratulations on your new kitty!!:goodvibes We keep our litter box in the bathroom. We have 2 right now, because we were keeping Arabella Razor Claws in our bathroom when we weren't home. But Aurora has decided that she likes that box, and her big fluffy butt just barely fits in the small box so we need to rethink that.
Are you going to call her Pearl or choose another name for her?

Lindsay - Well, it is POURING and thundering, so I hope you are inside!:)
