As we remember the family members who have gone before us.....I want to take a minute to thank the men and women who have fought for our freedom and those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. THANK YOU!!!

Happy Memorial Day!!!

Very Eliquently said. I whole heartedly agree

about a minute ago....Pearl will be coming home this afternoon...now just to find a spot for her litter box!!

Yummy afternoon plans, Tammi!!!

That was fast. I'm guessing that no one has kittie allegies?

We are having a BBQ tonight too. Hamburgers, sausage, kielbasa, potato salad, mac salad, diced potatoes grilled with butter and garlic and Memorial Day cupcakes for Desert (they were on sale at Walmart :rolleyes1 ) I think I'll make a big pitcher of lemonade too.

Deb

This is my portable first aid kit. I take it camping and on all our vacations. I just throw it in the diaper bag. All this stuff is in a small clear cosmetic case. Easily inspected without having to take it apart.

tweezers
mini scissors
bacitracin
tegaderm
mole skin
rubber gloves
Ipecac Syrup
All sizes of bandaids
tums
rolaids
gauze pads
burn cream
dimetap tabletss
medical tape
clensing wipes
advil
childrens motrin
gas-x
benedryl (chewable)
lip balm (with sunscreen)
dental floss
anti diaherria meds

Some things like the Ipecac syrup I have never had to use, but I feel better knowing that it's there. I just added the tweezers after yesterday :scared1:

We both carry bandaids, pain meds and first aid ointments in our cars. They stay there always. We've used the kids pain meds many times for there flat feet pain

Congratulations on your new kitty!!:goodvibes We keep our litter box in the bathroom. We have 2 right now, because we were keeping Arabella Razor Claws in our bathroom when we weren't home. But Aurora has decided that she likes that box, and her big fluffy butt just barely fits in the small box so we need to rethink that.
Are you going to call her Pearl or choose another name for her?

Lindsay - Well, it is POURING and thundering, so I hope you are inside!:)

I think her name is staying Pearl...she is now hiding under our bed. We decided our room has the most room for a litter box, so we got a covered one. She had been with the rescue group 5 months and had been taken from a kill shelter. The poor baby.

They both decided they would rather have little sniffles(if that) than not have a kitty. Abi has an allergy appt tomorrow.

It will take some time for her to adjust. Hopefully she will come out from under the bed soon.
DH decided to trim Arabella's nails earlier. It remains to be seen if that will make things better or worse.

Sorry I've been so crazy busy lately. Don't really know why. I've been uploading my photos to Kodak nights and that took all week. (if anyone wants a link to the 1,000 photos I've uploaded there let me know....). I've been getting out all the summer clothes this weekend and that means TONS of laundry.

Lizzy & I marched in the Memorial Day parade today. The last 2 years her troop joined the parade part way through. This year we started at the begining and then we had to walk back to the car. She was complaining when we got to the end that she was tired of walking and we still had to walk back to the car. She did fine but I told her DH would have to start a training program this summer to get her ready for Disney. She said Disney would be easier because there are lots of benches to rest on and you'd be stopping for rides and shows.

Did you charge them in your Sony charger or buy a new one? How long do they take to charge? Thanks for the link. I was thinking on this trip that I would need another set or two of batteries before we do any more travelling/camping/etc.
I did buy the Maha charger. There is a slow and fast charge setting. I used the slow charge and it would take several hours-like 6 or more-to fully charge. I had a few late nights so there were a few days when the batteries weren't fully charged when I got up in the morning but all were done by the time I got out of the shower and dressed. I never had more than 4 batteries to charge so it wasn't a problem. I've never tried the fast charge so I don't know how long that takes or if it lessons the battery life if you use slow charge.

Evening everyone.
Hope all of you had a great holiday weekend.
As I was on-call I have been busy busy.
I have enough hours to take Tuesday & Wednesday off.
Still have 40 hours this week. :cool1:

She's checking everything out....she's a bit of a lover...poor Jimmy gets to learn how to clip nails again. :rotfl2:

We got a cat bed...the girls said she had to have it, scratching post, litter box, food (which she doesn't seem to like the wet stuff) a carrier and toys.....she's one tricked out kitty. :lmao:

Prayers and pixie dust needed, Please!

I know the power of the DDA and just wanted to post this quickly before I leave.

The property supervisor of my Mom's complex found her laying on the floor of her apartment. Her gentleman friend had tried to call her for two days and got no answer. He called the supervisor and she found her there.

From the little news that I have so far, she was very disoriented, but conscious. They have rushed her to the hospital via ambulance, so I am on my way!

I will let you know what is going on when I find anything out!

Again, thanks!

Hope your mom is OK.
:grouphug:

Found this on the CB. Has been verified: http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/sanitizer.asp

I know we all use this in our classrooms on a daily basis, and I just wanted to encourage everyone to be sure and monitor the children with it. I honestly never even thought of this being an issue....scary! OK. I don't know where to begin because the last 2 days of my life have been such a blur. Yesterday, My youngest daughter Halley who is 4, was rushed to the emergency room by her father for being severely lethargic and incoherent. He was called to her school by the school secretary for being "very VERY sick." He told me that when he arrived that Halley was barely sitting in the chair. She couldn't hold her own head up and when he looked into her eyes, she couldn't focus them. He immediately called me after he scooped her up and rushed her to the ER. When we got there, they ran blood test after blood test and did x-rays, every test imaginable. Her white blood cell count was normal, nothing was out of the ordinary. The ER doctor told us that he had done everything that he could do so he was sending her to Saint Francis for further test. Right when we were leaving in the ambulance, her teacher had come to the ER and after questioning Halley's classmates, we found out that she had licked hand sanitizer off her hand. Hand sanitizer, of all things. But it makes sense. These days they have all kinds of different scents and when you have a curious child, they are going to put all kinds of things in their mouths. When we arrived at Saint Francis, we told the ER doctor there to check her blood alcohol level, which, yes we did get weird looks from it but they did it. The results were her blood alcohol level was 85% and this was 6 hours after we first took her. There's no telling what it would have been if we would have tested it at the first ER. Since then, her school and a few surrounding schools have taken this out of the classrooms of all the lower grade classes but what's to stop middle and high schoolers too? After doing research off the Internet, we have found out that it only takes 3 squirts of the stuff to be fatal in a toddler. For her blood alcohol level to be so high was to compare someone her size to drinking something 120 proof. So please PLEASE don't disregard this because I don't ever want anyone to go thru what my family and I have gone thru. Today was a little better but not much. Please send this to everyone you know that has children or are having children. It doesn't matter what age. I just want people to know the dangers of this.

OMG scary. :scared1:
This sits on almost every Teachers desk.
As they want to stop the kids from spreading germs & getting sick.
Makes you stop & think.

Our cats eat only dry food. Arabella had been eating canned when we got her, but it made her stink! She likes Aurora's adult food, so we switched all of the food over to kitten. Aurora eats kitten food - she doesn't care.

:wizard: Good luck with the job, Karen! Arabella doesn't scratch the furniture. She jams her claws into us when she tries to climb in our laps, then she slides down. I look like I have been on the losing end of a serious sword fight.

Jo - Your DD looks great! A huge THANK YOU to her and her fellow soldiers!:)

So this bit of getting drenched on Sunday evenings better stop soon. Last Sunday I got soaked leaving Dorney, today I got drenched finishing cleaning up at the graduation party I worked at. Let's just say I would love to move into the basement of the house or the backyard at that house. It looked like a resort like you would see in Florida or the Caribbean. It reminded me of the Polynesian at WDW. It had a multi level waterfall stream into a fish pond. A hot tub that has three waterfalls into an awesome pool, a huge pool house with full bathroom and patio with an outdoor kitchen.

Tomorrow I officially have off, unless I go into work for a few hours. I am only scheduled 32 hours this week, but can work up to 40 hours. Either way I get paid 8 hours holiday in addition to what I work. Plus the 8 hours I worked today catering.

I have never heard of cleaning tombstones before. I have placed flags on the grave sites of soldiers who fought in wars for the VFW. My brother used to work doing maintenance/groundskeeping at a cemetery and he never heard of doing so either. You learn something NEW everyday on the DIS.:thumbsup2

Happy Memorial Day Everyone.

Well you can just send that rain down here.
We will welcome it gladly.
It is so dry here.
I think 1/2 the state is burning.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone,

Tom - I'm so glad to hear some encouraging news about your mom

Jo - You have a right to be proud, but you don't look old enough to have a daughter that age.

Well it has been over 24 hours and my neighbors still have not returned, our guests have taken to our yard quite well, here's a snapshot we took earlier today,

lvnv-1.jpg

Theresa I hope your new family member adjusts quickly, just remind Abi that cats are very independent and they have to think that everything they do it their idea.

For those of you getting drenched in Texas I wish you could send the rain over this way, my yard is turning yellow from lack of rain. I put the sprinklers on today, hopefully that will help.

Tammi - yes that is my SIL holding his nose

I can use prayers and good thoughts for my Grandpa. Remember how at Christmas we had him go to the ER because of arthritis and Gout. Well he was supposed to go to an arthritis specialist he had an appointment but because his pain and problems had went away he never went.

Well he ended up back at the ER on Thursday or Friday for the same reason. Sorry my days are running together. He is in tons of pain and can hardly walk again. They of course sent him home with meds and now has an appointment with the arthritis specialist for August. I am hoping they will be able to get an earlier appointment or that the meds he has now work, so his pain goes away. He is staying at my Aunt's with my Grandma as she can't care for him with him having a hard time walking. This stresses her out and she has several health problems of her own aggravated by stress.

:grouphug:
Hope your Grandpa gets better soon.
Gout is very painful.

Deb - I don't think DS could wear Brother's swimsuit, but he might have been able to when he was 9! He is 11, and he is about 54" and weighs 65 lbs. on a good day. He will be in a booster seat for the rest of his life. One family I interviewed with has a 3 year old that weighs 48 lbs. Can you imagine? My friend's kids are pretty big, but her DH is a BIG guy. Her DD is 2 years younger than DS, but has been bigger than DS for as long as I can remember. I guess somebody has to be at the bottom of those growth charts!:rotfl:

Ramiro was always small for his age.
He was still in a booster seat till he was 10.
A friend of mine mistook him for 5.
The Summer he was 11, he went through a growth spurt.
He grew 4 inches & 60 lbs in 3 months.
He had a lot of growing pains. (sleep with ice packs)
When he went back to school some people didn't belive it was him.
Now @ 13 he is 115 lbs & 5 ft tall.
My little boy is not so little anymore. :sad1:
