Amy-i LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures!! the kids are getting cuter and cuter!!

Thanks Jen!

I've been trying to help you with your nursery rhyme analysis, but I'm not having any luck either. One site says they're instruments of torture! :scared:

I always just assumed that they were herbs/compost.

Good luck with your lesson! :goodvibes

Matthew's informal 9-month pictures with his duck (boy is that duck shrinking ;) )

IMG_2242.jpg
I love that one!!!! All the pictures are great Amy!

I'm not sure if I will be bringing a carry on or not. Hopefully I can get by with one piece of luggage to be checked.
I was hoping to juts bring a rolling carryon myself.

Scenario #1: Jack goes duck hunting before school and pulls into school parking lot with shotgun in rack.

1973- Vice Principal comes over and checks out the fine Remington model. He then shows Jack his own shotgun that he has in his truck.

2007- School goes into a lock down, the Police are called and the SWAT Team does a tactical take-down and Jack is hauled off to jail and he never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors are called in for traumatized students and teachers.
:lmao:

THats what i keep finding too--figure thats not the best things to tell the kids!

We are under severe flood warning now....

I went early this morning to get the dance recital tickets. It was pouring & there were many people already lined up. There were 6 cars in the lot but somehow I ended up being #15!  . Anyway, I got my number & sat in the car. I got 10th row (bummer) but at least its over.

We are staying in due to the weather...on days like this I am glad I do not have a basement..we are too close to the water.

Hope your Sunday is going well.

so its back to school tomorrow--its garden week and were doing "mary mary quite contrary"

Are silver bells and cockle shells typesof flowers? i have to explain each line of the poem and everything online is not what im looking for--any ideas? thanks!

Cockle shells are actually shells. Here's a link to a description of them. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/cockle. I've always thought they were ground up and used as a fertilizer. Not sure why I think that. It is just what I've always imagined when I heard the poem.

I found this about silverbells. http://www.na.fs.fed.us/pubs/silvics_manual/volume_2/halesia/carolina.htm or http://www.centralpark2000.com/database_flowers/carolina_silverbell.htm I've always pictured them as flowers when I read/heard the poem.

Amy, your pictures are great, and your kids couldn't be any cuter!

Theresa, still crossing everything for you, and anxiously waiting to hear about the loan and offer on the townhouse.

Tammi and Steffy, I am very jealous of your upcoming trips!! I know I'm not the only one dealing with yucky weather, but I am so tired of cold, rain and snow!! I wish I was going to Florida and getting to see the mouse!! (Although my mom said it got to 94 yesterday!! :scared1: )

I spent this weekend sewing and shopping mostly. I bought a new pattern and fabrics to make DGD more clothes, and to make bear/Pal Mickey clothes. At least it keeps me out of trouble. I also bought myself a jewelry box for my dresser that I really like.

I hope everyone is staying warm/dry and having a good weekend!!

I've converted another! <evil laugh inserted here> :lmao:

Thanks ! Now, heres a dumb question..why are there cockle shells in a garden?!

If we send DGS3 on the pirate cruise, will he be safe from the peanut butter and jelly? Can you get a ressie for that? When DGD went to Disney we always had special things planned for her. She did pirate cruise 3 times, the tea party twice and the adventures in cooking. What do you have planned special for DGS3????????

Can DGS3 go on the pirate cruise? I remembered the age being 3yo for it, but can only find things saying 4yo now. I want to plan the big kids trip for after everyone will be old enough to go on the pirate cruise together, but that means either taking the kids out of school to go in the fall or waiting until the next spring. Both delays mean moving one or two kids from child to adult pricing. Of course, if they will offer free dining a few years down the road, then I'll really be pushing to take them out of school so that we can go then.

Here's a reference to the same thing. I'm looking to find out if I can find more. It is from this website with info on Mary, Mary

With silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids all in a row...All refer to very practical applications. Living in an agricultural area, it is common to see silver streamers of noise makers hung on trees to frighten ravaging birds or animals away. Also, my wife and I have heard that ground cockle shells used to be used as a fertilizer, and pretty maids all in a row were simply her helping hands.

Here's another thought on the subject from the same link above.

I remember visiting Hampton Court Palace in London many years ago. There we were shown Queen Mary’s rooms (contrary Mary — mixed marriage). Her rooms overlooked her garden with ancient and magnificent clipped yew trees. The silver bells were the shapes of the doorknobs, the cockle shells the decorations around the door plates. As for the pretty maids all in a row — there they were, hanging on the wall — beautiful portraits of her maids. Seemed to have it all in one! I think that's the genuine background.

Great pictures, Amy!! The parties all look like a lot of fun. You did a great job on the cake! And Matthew! He's getting so big. Happy belated birthday, Alyssa!

Thanks! much better than the things i found..now i have an idea what to tell the kiddies haha

Stephanie - There isn't ANY regulation for in-home childcare. If I went to work at the "Y" or in a daycare there would probably be some standard checks, but for nannies the only checks are the ones the families choose to pay for. The checks are hugely variable in how thorough they are, so even if an agency runs a background check it is only for the names & addresses the NANNY discloses! Scary, huh? Honestly, most families are FAR more concerned about cost than they are about guaranteeing the safety of their children. Hence the staggering number of people who want a "nanny/housekeeper" for 60 hours per week at a salary of $150 cash.:sad2: And like I mentioned before, everything is slanted very heavily in favor of the family. I don't get to run a background check on them to see if the dad is an embezzler or beats his wife or the mom writes hot checks. The family gets to know everything about me and I just get "enter at your own risk, the agency is not liable". Which is why I have decided to be a donkey about the credit report.
Your children are unruly. You need to trade them in for some nice, compliant children who don't ask hard questions. I know exactly where you can find some!;)

Anne Marie - Glad you got the recital tickets, even if they aren't quite where you hoped! What an ordeal!

Amy - Now I am hungry for cake!:rotfl2: The pics are adorable. It looks like Alyssa has enjoyed all of her parties!:)

Just read 70 pages but still 50 pages behind. I've got to get over my not wanting to post if I'm not caught up!

Everyone has been in my thought & prayers! Things have been crazy.

Easter was way too cold and Emma was up the night before with a nasty cold so we decided to let her sleep instead of going to church. I searched for about 2 weeks for a dress she'd actually wear and then both girls wore velour pants instead.

It's been a super crazy week for me. Busy with projects at work and my family is stressed and I'm getting really cranky with this nasty weather.

My SIL is on the verge of a nervous breakdown-she's a minister so that's a 24 hour/7 days a week job and hasn't been feeling well. I think she's taking a leave of absence.

I've got 3 sisters. The oldest has the most stress dealing with my Mom. My Mom's health is pretty good but she still won't accept her colostomy (it's been 2 years) so she's in a nursing home so they can care for it. She was refusing to get out of bed at all but then one night went to the bathroom alone and said she fell. She wouldn't cooperate for an xray so they sent her to the hospital and they kept her there for observation. My sister called to see how she was and she said "I had to do something." :headache: I'm sure the state will be demanding her house be sold any day now. My Mom is accusing my sister (who has done soooooo much for her) of trying to steal all her things. That sister is also trying to sell her house. It just all so sad as she was living a full life before she got sick and now she's OK but won't do anything.:sad1: :sad1:

My next sister's MIL just had a stroke and is having "issues" with my BIL's family.

And the most serious-the sister I'm closest to-her DH physically went after their DS(18 years) and shoved my sister in the process. Her DH doesn't think he did anything wrong. They've been married 20 years and he's never touched her. She actually hasn't told me (my other sister did). She just doesn't know what to do. My heart aches for her and my 14 year old niece.

And furthering my happy mood-now this is just plain silly compared to my Dsis but it didn't help my mood any. I was searching for shorts for my May trip. I've been wearing the same 2 pairs of shorts for more than 10 years-except for the trip I was 6 months pregnant with Emma and the trip for Joe's 3rd birthday when I was too heavy and it was too cold. Who knew I was so out of style. I just want plain chino shorts that are not below the knee but longer than 6". Don't have ties or cargo pockets and sit at the waist not low waisted. I found a simular style (at an outlet) as the ones I like (Liz Claiborne) but now they are stain & wrinkle resistant so they are just too stiff and don't fall well and I hate them. I found one pair I like at Lord & Taylor by Ralph Lauren but they are $45:scared1: and I really hope this size won't fit me long. I did buy them which wasn't easy as I never pay full price for my clothes. I guess if they don't fit in the future that will a small price to pay for the weight loss. They did have a simular style at Kohl's in their cheaper Chaps branded Ralph Lauren-well they were $45 too but they were 30% off. BUT they were pink. I won't wear pink (wonder were Emma gets her pink aversion from?). I found Polo.com but they had a very light pink and red.

The kids are on vacation this week and its supposed to rain all week so I'll be coming home everyday to a very cranky house.

And to top the week off....now I've got a nasty head cold.

BUT....I'm going to Disney in 3 weeks!!!!:donald: :stitch: :dumbo: :sulley: :tigger: :figment: :goofy: :hmghost: :mickeyjum

Look what I found!
http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=25192

It is the second of four AP pins being released this year! I think this one is even cuter than the Donald they released first! They also have a ton of pins coming out for the 3rd POTC movie, but none of those blew me away. Is it August yet?
That's really cool!

http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=24936 WDW R2 Potatoo (This one is just too funny!!!)

I think I'm turning into Elizabeth! :rotfl:

If anyone who's traveling to Disneyland and see's the Pirate Tigger I'd pay dearly for that one! Bob would LOVE it!

Has anyone ordered pins via Guest Services? Is that something where I'd have to call day of? I've never called to order pins before...or any WDW/DL merchandise via phone before...
I like that Tigger one too!

I may have to get this one:

I am really glad we got free dining by booking in December, because the dates they are offering wouldn't work for us. We also don't have a Disney Visa, so chances are by the time the offer goes to the general public there won't be many rooms left to choose from!
I'm kicking myself for not researching it better. The CR never told me about it when I was there in Dec and I was sure they'd offer it to the general public. Now I'm hoping for lower crowds. It would cost me $450 in additional tickets and lost AAA discount to save $440 for the last 4 nights of our trip. I guess I could use the tickets in the future but I'll already have 2 extra tickets for Joe & I. I'm glad I've got it booked with AAA discount.

I thought I would post who is going to each dinner that we have scheduled for the October trip. I know Vicki is still working on what meal they will be able to attend. If there are any mistakes, just let me know.
I will be leaving early Thursday morning to visit my sister in Marietta, Ga. but I will be able to DIS while I am there. I am taking Chuckie and will take lots of pictures. We will be going to the Rennisance Faire and the Aquarium. I will be home next Monday.

Then in 10 days I will call in for the ADRs.

Thanks for including me in your counts. I'm still waiting for Finance to make the budget schedule. :confused3 I'm a little afraid to ask boss for the time off as he already thinks I'm crazy. I'm also a bit scared to mention it to DH before I go on my May solo (as in leave DH & kids at home) but I know he'll be OK with it as long as he doesn't go more than once a year.

I need to figure out the google thing.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL....................................

We put in a bid on a townhouse!!
:wizard: Cool!!! You've been in my prayers.

At this moment, no I am not planning on going :( We will be signing the papers for the house within the next 2 weeks & I think I might want to buy some stuff for the house(beings it will really be ours :cool1: ). I am keeping my eyes open though, just in case a "I can't resist this deal" comes out :rotfl:

I still have the Oct. DDA trip & the Dec. family trip, so I shouldn't complain. Oct. just seems sooooooo far away right now!

Janet - Have you decided definitely not to go to WDW in August?

Hope you are feeling better Tia!

Good morning everyone! I just read the last few pages, but can't seem to remember any of it. And here I thought that I wasn't very tired today. I think it's the cold messing with my head. I knew it was coming, but was bummed to wake up with a sore throat and congestion today. :(
