Scenario #1: Jack goes duck hunting before school and pulls into school parking lot with shotgun in rack.
1973- Vice Principal comes over and checks out the fine Remington model. He then shows Jack his own shotgun that he has in his truck.
2007- School goes into a lock down, the Police are called and the SWAT Team does a tactical take-down and Jack is hauled off to jail and he never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors are called in for traumatized students and teachers.
Scenario #2: Johnny and Mark get into fist fight after school.
1973- Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and eventually become friends.
2007- Police are called and arrest Johnny and Mark for Aggravated Assault. Both go to jail and are expelled from school, even though Johnny started it.
Scenario #3: Abigail curses teacher out.
1973- Abigail is sent to principal's office where she is subsequently paddled and given after school detention for a week. When she gets home, mother grounds her and father puts her over knee and spanks her.
2007- Teacher writes up Abigail who then calls her mother herself from her cell phone. Mother responds to school to confront teacher for mistreating her child. Father is unknown.
Scenario #4: Robert gets a bad report card.
1973- Robert's parents ground him and take away his bike. Robert works harder and does better the next quarter.
2007- Robert's mother shows up at the school with Robert's "other mother" and wants to know what the school plans to do about it. There is a meeting with all five of his teachers, the Assistant Principal, the school psychologist, his assistant, a counselor, an attorney that represents the family, the School Resource Officer and a board member. The board member tells the Assistant Principal that if Robert's grades don't improve, the Asst. Principal will have to go back to coaching the girls track team.
Scenario #5: Jeffrey won't sit still in class, disrupts other students.
1973- Jeffrey sent to principal's office for a good paddling. Jeffrey sits still in class.
2007- Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin, and becomes a zombie. School and parents get extra money from the government because Jeffrey has a disability.
Scenario #6: Billy breaks neighbor's windshield and his dad gives him a whipping.
1973- Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.
2007- Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang, becomes a lifelong criminal. A state psychologist tells Bill's sister that she was abused, too. Billy's dad is sent to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with state psychologist.
Scenario #7: Bobby slaps Angie in the buttocks and says, "Nice game" after a basketball game in gym/P.E.
1973- Angie says thank you.
2007- Angie tells her P.E. teacher a week later because she was embarrassed and traumatized by the incident. Again, the police are called and a sex abuse detective is sent. Bobby is arrested and now must register as a sex abuse offender wherever he lives for the rest of his life.
Scenario #8: Michael falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him for comfort.
1973- In a short time Michael feels better and goes on playing.
2007- Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She goes to prison for 3 years and Michael undergoes 5 years of extensive therapy.
Scenario #9: Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin/motrin.
1973- Mark shares aspirin with Principal who is out on the smoking dock.
2007- Police called, Mark is "zero tollerenced" for drug violations. His locker, car and home are searched for drugs and weapons.
Scenario #10: Johnny takes leftover firecrackers from the 4th of July and places them in ant hill.
1973- Ants die.
2007- ATF, Homeland Security, and FBI called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. FBI investigates parents and all siblings are removed from home. Computers, cell phones, and files are removed from home. Johnny's dad is put on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.
Scenario #11: Two students are "making out" behind the stage curtain.
1973- Brent and Suzy, ages 15 & 16, are told to leave and not go back there again.
2007- Brent and David, ages 10 & 11, are sent to the office and parents are called. Both sets of parents say it's perfectly normal and acceptable for their children to express love in any way they feel comfortable. The ACLU files suit on their behalf because they were caused "embarrassment and mental anguish" by a school system that is obviously intolerant. The families each receive $2.3 million for their suffering
