Bernadette - "smart parents" is kind of an oxymoron in my business.:rotfl2: Most of the parents are INCREDIBLE in their chosen careers. When it comes to their kids they are clueless. They love their kids, but they are completely baffled by them. So they set out to find a nanny. They ask their co-workers where they got their nannies. They do a Google search. My favorite agency does not have the best website - that probably isn't good. Some of them put ads in the paper or on Craig's list. It is kind of scary. They don't necessarily understand that they should list with multiple agencies to get more candidates. And if the agency says "you don't want a nanny with a child" then they will believe that.:headache: At least I feel REALLY good about 2 out of the 3 agencies. And the one I met with this evening said they have a sort of reciprocal agreement with 3 other agencies. If one of those other 3 agencies has a job they can't fill (no qualified nannies) they will share the listings and split the placement fee. The other 3 agencies are not agencies I would think of as having high-end jobs, so if they HAPPEN to get one then chances are they won't have a qualified nanny to fill it. So I potentially have access to the listings of 6 different agencies. And Momboss has said whenever I am ready she will send a mass e-mail to her attorney database. She has done that in the past for some of my friends and gotten some decent replies. It is just a matter of finding the right family at the right time, who doesn't consider DS as some horrible affliction.

Imagine that....a prom goer, a middle schooler and a newborn. :scared1: I really would qualify for the looney bin then!!

My Mom was in college, her sister was in middle school when their youngest sister was born. I came along 5 years later.

Robyn- great pictures, Molly is getting so big. They both have beautiful blue eyes.

Here's a couple of cakes we are looking at as well - we found out our cake person - www.thecakeloft.net - so getting some more ideas together!
FallWhiteCake.jpg

Channon - I liked both, but this one is very unique and elegant! :thumbsup2

I got my Jim Brickman Cd's in the mail today!

I love Jim Brickman! What CD's did you get?

BTW - if you haven't seen his DVD special from the Magic Kingdom, it is so worth buying. My mom and I actually saw him filming some of it on my birthday evening, 2005, right after Wishes. :cloud9:

that is so right! Plan for heat, October DDA! It has been hot the past 4-5 years.

::yes:: Oh yes, it can be quite steamy!

nope!! nothing!! nada!! zip!! zilch!!! and I have a nasty headache and the start of an asthma attack...I am hoping to stave that off.

Continued :wizard: :wizard: Theresa!

So I went to my 2nd interview tonight, and I really liked the interviewer! She was very nice and asked great questions. She was a nanny herself for nearly 20 years, so she "gets it". I certainly HOPE I can find placement through them instead of the agency from this morning, but it depends on which agency the families I like are listed with. Families with new babies don't know one agency from another, so there isn't any logic to who they list with. That means the nannies have to list with EVERYBODY for maximum exposure. Of course if the one from this morning refuses to refer me for anything since I have a child (what was I thinking, having a child?) then being listed with them will be pointless. Grrr.

It sounds like things might be looking up, Elizabeth. :wizard: Although I can understand the dilemma if you have to leave your little friends earlier than you'd like. At least your bosses are being supportive - and hopefully the new set of little proteges will be just as sweet. :goodvibes

Well, I'm caught up (thanks for keeping it down). Jonathan didn't feel up to going out to eat for his b-day tonight, so we just ordered in a pizza, he watched 24, and I got the pleasure of finishing our taxes. The good news, though...we are getting a refund! It's not a huge one, but we have NEVER gotten a refund in our entire 8-year marriage, so we're ecstatic. Now I know why some people get so excited for tax time! :rotfl: ;)

Good night, DDA! Sweet Disney Dreams! :cloud9:

What a day! DDA hugs and :wizard: are just the best because today as I was going to lunch, I got very good news. If everything goes okay, one of the heaviest weights on my heart will be lifted. I swear, the good news coincided with your good wishes. I thank you...

I didn't even know about the shootings until I came home. How horrific.

Stephanie, I think you need a few
Thanks! :goodvibes

Steffy - someone might have Steve Soares website .
Thanks! :goodvibes

Thanks!:goodvibes

Good morning DDA!

Stephanie I am sending you lots of  as well!
Thanks! :goodvibes

Stephanie I'm sorry that you're having some personal stuff right now, but YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY IN A WEEK!! and you're coming home to a clean house.
Thanks! I am soooo excited!:goodvibes

Steffy~ to you, too. Not much longer and you'll be spending time with your main mouse!!
Thanks! I can't wait!:goodvibes

Stephanie- I am so sorry for whatever you are going through...I think hiring some professionals sounds like a great idea!! :for whatever you are going through.
Yes! They will be here on Thursday!!

Steffy-- I must have missed your post, but I wanted to add a hug to you for whatever you are going through.
I absolutely could not believe people got snow today! Thanks for the hug!:goodvibes

Dana opened the window & look at the house & turns out there is a huge hole in the cedar siding & that is how the water got in. It must have been there for awhile but we never knew it since we haven't had such bad rain in years.
Hope you get that fixed soon and that it doesn't cost a fortune!!:goodvibes

Here's a couple of cakes we are looking at as well - we found out our cake person - www.thecakeloft.net - so getting some more ideas together!
FallWhiteCake.jpg
I like this one..:goodvibes

It is so horrific.
I'm at a loss for words.

Thought I'd post some pics of Mo's birthday celebrations...
Great pictures. Love the party. Great cake!:goodvibes

:I am starting to fear that I will find a FABULOUS job that starts right now. If I take it I will lose the summer with my little friends, who are my heart. If I turn it down then in September there will be NOTHING and I will be kicking myself. I am not one to pray, but I might have to start since I will really need some guidance with this!
Good night, Jen!
That's going to be a tough decision.  you know me with my stories, so I'm going to end this very long post with one.

Follow your bliss. A friend of mine was offered a job today. We discussed it at lunch. It might not pay what he is worth, but he would do the job for free. He's good at it. It's a good fit. And he is uniquely qualified for it. He just happened to be a the right place at the right time. He didn't go after the job, the job came to him. And it is a perfect fit.

Follow your instincs (if I could spell I could rule the world) Go with your gut. Pray for guidance. And also pray that you can correctly see the message.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for all your help with the transfer. I did manage to get all the parchment peeled off, and Jacob can't see anything wrong with the shirt, so I'm good with it! Now I know how to deal with it, I'm good to go! I printed off about half of the transfers I need for our June trip, so guess what I'll be doing for the next few weeks.... yup, washing shirts, and ironing on transfers! I would let my sister do some, but after today, I'm thinking I don't want anyone else messing with "my" shirts!:lmao:

Theresa - Hang in there! Things have to slow down at some point! I can't wait to see the dress that Cassidy picks, and to see how the Mary Janes go with it! I'm still crossing my fingers for your house!

Channon - I really like both cakes, but I would love to see the first one with delicately colored Fall leaves instead of white. I think it would be really pretty with a touch of color!

Jen - I'm still hugging you long distance as you deal with your loss! It's a tough thing, and one I'm not looking forward to, as my own furbaby is getting up there in years!

Elin - I can't tell you how relieved I was to remember that your daughter was not at Virginia Tech! My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to all those affected by this terrible tragedy! What a horrible thing to have to deal with!

Tammi - Alyssa is a darling girl, and what a sweetheart to agree to wear her "old" dress! I can't talk any of my girls into dressing up for Disneyland. At least they'll wear the shirts I'm doing for them!

Lindsay - Hooray for a tax refund! It's a great feeling, isn't it? I'm so sorry that Jonathan doesn't feel well! Here's hoping that he is much better tomorrow, and you can go out for his birthday at a later date!

Robyn - Darling pictures!!! Molly looks so much bigger now! How does that happen??? I love the pictures of both girls together. They really look like they are friends as well as sisters! So darling!!!!

Elizabeth - Well, it sounds like there is the possiblilty for good things to come from the interviews. Hooray for that! Now, we'll just have to send out good vibes for a family to fall into your lap, and not to mind about your son! I would think that you having a child of your own would be a good sign as a nanny! At least it shows that you've got PLENTY of experience with kids!

I know I've probably forgotten someone! Hugs and pixie dust to everyone!!!

I'll talk to you all in the morning!

Stephanie - I SO hope that things work out so you can stop feeling worried and stressed!!:wizard:
Thank you for your advice, and for keeping me in your thoughts!:) Somehow this will work out. I wish the best for your friend! How wonderful for the "right" thing to happen and him to be able to recognize it! That is what I want. I want to recognize the right thing, because I don't want to regret the choice I make.

Glynis - Congrats on your shirts! I already admired you, but the shirt project really puts you over the top!:thumbsup2

Lindsay - I hope Jonathan feels better soon!:wizard: I am sure I will love my new charges eventually. I loved Brother & Sister after about 3 months, and I have loved them more each day since then. The thought of leaving Brother gives me literal chest pains. I think that is why it is so important for me not to leave before September unless it is for the best job EVER.

Chanon - I must figure out how to post a picture of Aurora. She is furry, but she is also FAT. DH loves orange kitties. He would like to have one.

Good morning, DDA. Today is so sad around here. We are all trying to get in touch with friends and people we know to make certain all their children are OK. It is a very hard contact to make. How do you ask someone if their child is alive? I am dreading the announcement from Tech with the list of names.

I will check in later with you all. Have wonderful mornings and hug those beautiful children of yours very hard. If they ask you why.... tell them I wanted you to.

Robyn - I can't believe how grown up Molly is looking!

Stephanie - I'm so happy things are turning around for you!

Elin - thoughts and prayers are with you and your friends today. :grouphug:

Lindsay - I got the Disney Songbook (now I have Cocktail Hour music!! :rotfl: ) and to see if Bob like's the song "Beautiful" and Escape so I could listen to "Not Alone" as a father/daughter dance.

Well guess I should get moving...I have a half day today, then a faculty meeting but i still should get home earlier than usual, so im looking forward to that!

HOpe you all have a great day!

Good morning!

Elin

Lindsay, yay for a tax refund! Hope Jonathon is feeling better :wizard:

Roybn your pictures were great, thanks for sharing!

Stephanie & Tammi how many more days :yay:

Beware of Disney sizing! There is no rhyme or reason to it. I had to send in the DL shirt my bosses bought me for an exchange because it was WAY too tight, even though it is my normal size. I am crossing my fingers that I actually DO get a shirt back from them because the whole process made me nervous. Exchaning park merchandise is different than Disney Shopping, though. Good luck!:wizard:

Elizabeth -- I've worked with WDW via phone/mail in exchanging a shirt I got my Dad when I was there in December. When I first called, they told me they were out of the shirt -- the computer showed no stock. I asked them if I called a specific shop and found it if they would get it. They said that normally they wouldn't, but to let them know. I called the GF, where I bought the shirt, and they had another one in the correct size. I did end up getting the correct size, so I hope you do as well.

More :wizard: for your job search. You are smart to be proactive and start the process.

Good morning, everyone.

Morning everyone!

Tammi-LOVE your countdown!!

Morning! Sending you more prayers, Jen.

Glynis, I'll get back to you.

Tammi & Jennifer, thank you for the suggestions.

Jen :woohoo: on 115,000

Chanon, cute kitty.

Chanon I like the white cake.

Ellen :cheer2: on 116,000

Tammi I did the pick a pearl in Downtown Disney. They will try and sell you the most expensive setting, just tell them what you want. I waned a ring but for a cheaper setting she suggested a necklace instead and it didn't come with a chain, that is extra.
So for $50.00 I got the pearl she drilled a hole in it and set it in the charm. When I got home I used a chain I had.
