Hello DDA'ers,

We are back from our week at Disney and had a great time. I finally got to have a Dole Whip and Beer Cheddar Soup.

I loved the Dole Whip!!!.....I had mine in a cone and my Aunt liked it so much she went back and had one in a pineapple float. I couldn't find them until our 2nd day there in Adventureland.

The weather was great. Out of our 6 days we only had rain on 3 of them. At Epcot and MGM the rain started around 6pm but only lasted a couple of hours. We dodged it with our rain ponchos and still went in and out of the attractions. Our 1st day at MK on Tuesday it started raining around noon.....we had ADR's at Tony's and the Castle so we got fast passes for Buzz Lightyear before our ADR's and went our separate ways for our lunch and then met back and did Buzz. We left the park then.....around 4pm and went home to rest a bit and put on some dry clothes. We knew it would be cooler in the evening. We headed back around 8pm and was able to do the Haunted Mansion and the Speedway before the 10pm Wishes and the 11pm Spectromagic Parade. GUESS WHAT?? I was on main street at 12:15am and it was so beautiful and so quiet!!! That is what I wanted to do more than anything.

For 4 days we had 18 people with us......one day 21 people and one day 20 people. We had a few family members that live down there that only came for one day. My cousin Cammie helped me with the FP's. I would get everyone in line for an attraction and we would take off to get FP's for a larger attraction. I think our longest wait time for any attraction my have only been 20-30 minutes. That was at attractions that didn't have FP's.

Most of the time I would put them in line for a thrill ride and keep the 4 smaller kids with me and I would go get FP's for another ride. We had 2 - 3yr olds and 2 - 5yr olds that couldn't ride all the rides.

My Vertigo was o.k.......still bothered me at times so I didn't tempt fate and go overboard. The only roller coastser I did was the Mountain Railroad at MK. I really wanted to do RRC and SM but I was worried about it being in the dark. I did so Soarin'.......I was a bit worried but it was GREAT!!! I loved it!!!

All in all it was a great trip. It was difficult at times with 18 people. 5 of them are smokers so I really had a hard time with finding smoking areas for them. They were easy to find on the map I just didn't want to stop for them. That was the biggest compromise I guess I had to make. I hated sitting there waiting 10 minutes for them to smoke when we could be heading to the next attraction.

I did get to talk to Glynis and Jen. I had two sleeping little ones in a stroller waiting for everyone else to get off SM. Glynis was in the waiting line at Carosel of Progress. I told her when everyone got off I would come over to wait for her. Well when everyone got off we realized we left our red/black backpack in Adventureland. We took off over there and found it right where we left it. By then an hour had passed and Glynis had already left for WCC to have dinner with Kate and everyone. I talked to Jen but they had already left to get their marathon passes. They were at MK but heard that the wait time for the passes was short so they left quickly to get over there.

That is the short version.........only version..........for my trip report. We have already strated talking about Jan 2010 for our next "big" trip. I am pretty sure that David and I with the boys will do our own small trip before then.

Oh and by the way.......on Jan the 1st we were at MGM. It was my mom's
60th birthday and we all had matching shirts on.......there was 20 of us on that day. I went to guest relations to get her birthday pin and asked about my mom and stepdad being in the parade and they said YES!!!! It was the most magical thing that could have happened to us. They were in the 1st car in the parade and got to stand in a VIP spot and watch the rest of the parade and all the characters came up to her and gave her a hug. Of course when the other 18 of us saw them coming we all started waving and screaming. It is something I will never forget.

Lynn

Theresa - no, no, no! You are supposed to be better by now! :wizard:

Lynn - sounds like you had a magical trip! Thanks for the report!

Well, I picked the kids up and we went out to eat at Olive Garden. I wasn't really hungry (I think I'm still full from the Melting Pot) so I just had the 3 appetizer platter for my entree. I didn't get a present from the kids, because it "isn't ready" yet. From the slips they've made, I'm guessing I'm getting a coffee mug from a paint your own pottery place we have here. I think it still needs to be fired. Anyway, they had done one for me a few years ago for Christmas, with their handprints on it. It was my coffee mug I used at work, until several months ago when I dropped and broke it. I was heartbroken. I still have the pieces in my office, as I can't bring myself to throw them out. So, I hope I'm getting a new one!!
I hope you get the coffee cup!
oo speaking of tests, we found something out yesterday that i forgot to post..
My brother got his state wide EMT test scores back (his graduation was just for passing the class , not the test)...They say that 60% of people that take this test do not pass it the first time......but, my brother called me yesterday and

MY BROTHER IS OFFICIALLY AN EMT!!!!!
WHO HOO!
So, the good news - I have a new ticker! :cheer2:

The bad news - it's not for when everyone will be there in a couple of weeks. :guilty:

We are compromising and going 3/2-3/5 for our next quick trip, instead of that last weekend in Jan. This way, we'll have plenty of time to get some things accomplished around our house, and I'm sure we'll REALLY need our Disney fix by then.

I can't decide where to stay though - it's likely between the WL and CBR, both of which we have done before. I would have liked to try the CR, but there are no rooms available for the whole time. Plus, these peak season prices are :scared: , even with an AP discount! I've got a WL Woods view booked right now, but might switch it to a CBR King. Our first and only trip to the WL was kind of a bummer (we got food poisoning!), so I thought it would be nice to give it another try, stay in a renovated room, etc. The one thing I don't like about WL is that most of the king bed rooms double as the barrier-free rooms, and the shower in those kind of gross me out (they always just look dirty, since they're all tile). We really loved our first stay at CBR - we were on-site newbies, and just had such fun there. I do like the added amenities of a deluxe resort, though. Decisions, decisions...

Anyone got any thoughts?
I know it's not one of your choices, but Coronado holds a special place in my heart!
Woo-hoo!!!!
All hail me, for I am finally done with my MDT test!!

Has anyone seen the footage of when Tiggers attack? On the Today show they just showed Tigger hitting what appears to be an obnoxuios teen.Provoked? Can you really be provoked enough to justify hitting a kid? Makes you wonder about who is under the mask. Cast member has been suspended and there is a law suit.:confused3
Congrats on passing! Haven't seen the video footage yet - I'll probally check that out at work with high speed. No idea what that cast member is thinking!?

I think it is a good possibility and just for your information.... Coldwater Creek has shorts. And some of them are on sale..... :rolleyes1
You're just trying to make me look at that site, aren't you!!!

Enabler!

:rotfl:

I have been so busy the last couple of days, that I am behind!

Let's see what I can remember from the speed reading and skimming that I have done!

Tammi and Elin, sounds like you had a great time! Two bottles of wine? You know how to partee! :goodvibes

:welcome: Dana, aka Kingdaddy! Nice to see another guy around here!

Lynn, so glad that you had a great time! Wow! I don't think I could keep up with that many people in a group!

Chris, congrats for finishing your test!

Jen, tell you brother Congrats from me! Way to go!

Lindsay, If I had the opportunity to stay at the WL, I would definitely take it! I want to stay there sometime!

Theresa, hope your end of the year reports get done in a timely manner! It is nice to hear that your migraine has finally let up!

Steffy, good luck with your reports too!

Jennifer, Hope you shoulder improves more! I know how hard it is to work, even with just a little pain!

Janet, have you started packing yet? I bet you are getting excited about your upcoming trip!

Tia, I will have to let my wife know about the homeschooling books that you are reading. She would love to homeschool Leighanna, but we're just not sure!

Vicki, drive safe to Lansing today! I would love to have some of our old home movies put on DVD, I will have to find out which brother has them, and get the ball rolling!

Debbie, I hope you are feeling better. :wizard:

Elizabeth, good luck on the long drawn out process that you are dealing with now!

Beth, nice to see you posting again! Love your designs.

Denise, nice of you to pop in too! I have missed seeing the pictures of your beautiful children!

Heidi, sounds like your husband is very proficient at laying flooring! It always takes me longer to do a project than I had originally planned on!

I know that I have missed alot! Sorry! :wizard: :grouphug: to all!

I am in need of sleep! Good-night all!

Good morning, DDA! Mr. Sun is going to be looking at us this way

Morning

Got some interesting news this morning. Seems my Bio father is in the hospital, not doing good at all. Now this may seem harsh to some, but its no big deal with me.
He was never around and I never really knew him.

It's snowing here today! FINALLY! I hate the snow, but goodness, it needs to snow now so it doesn't snow in the spring! It's almost like we need to add a month before October to even the seasons out!

Well, in two days I have to teach 10 people about how to buy a Disney package and enjoy their time there...anyone have any suggestions on what to "sell"? My powerpoint goes into detail about the parks, hotels and types of packages - I'm wondering if I should remove Adventures by Disney all together (only three slides) and talk about Fastpasses and the touring the parks more. And I'm still waiting on a box of brochures to be delivered. Apparently no one told me we are down to 4 brochures - and the TA that orders brochures always forgets about Disney - go figure - so of course it's my fault...so if you were traveling to Disney for the first time - what would you like to hear about?

Yes, I did see that and read a lot of it on the CB. I'm not quite sure what happened. I have a really hard time thinking Tigger just hauled off and whacked someone for no reason. That kid had to have been doing something to Tigger's back that can't be seen. And it appears to me that he did not get punched, rather slapped with an open hand. I'd like to believe, that with that head on and his peripheral vision blocked, that he was just trying to swat away whatever was happening, and unfortunately the kids face was there. I wish the video wouldn't cut off because it actually looks like they are starting to pal around a bit. I'm really trying to give the CM the benefit of the doubt. I hope it all comes out eventually.

Lindsay - oh man, I was hoping we would get to meet. But I'm glad that you are going. I haven't stayed at CBR but loved WL.

Hi Tom.

Hi Janet.

Hi Chanon.

Morning

Hi Heidi.

:grouphug:

I need to get ready and get the kids off to school. Then I'm going grocery shopping. I'm going to make your shepherd's pie tonight, Heidi. I hope my kids like it!

Have a great day everyone!

We watched The Devil Wears Prada last night.....the book is so much better...but that is the case almost every time. I actually think Ugly Betty comes closer to the book than the movie.

I have ordered the final Pants book that comes out on Tuesday...all three of us girls have loved reading the series..I can't wait to see where the girls go.

Santa brought Laura a Barnes and Nobles gift card so that she could get the final Pants book. I forgot that tomorrow is the day!

The first time I saw it,I thought it may have been an accident, but as they continued to show it, you could see Tigger hook the kids left arm to hold it and turn to hit the kid. It does look like he was appologizing at end.
I,m off to work talk later.
Tell Deb good morning for me.

And my backyard is a swamp!

Just think if all this rain was snow!

I just said that to Michael last night! I am so glad that it is staying above freezing and giving us rain rather than snow. I'm sure that the ski operators are not.

I definitely think that you should talk a little about Fastpasses. It's always amazing to me the number of people who don't realize that they do not cost extra, how to use them, etc. I also think that first-timers need to know about getting ADR's.

I read the thread on TPAS and watched the video clip several times. It does look to me like the kid is trying to do something behind Tigger's back, such as unzip the costume. It also looks like the hit from Tigger is intentional from the way that Tigger hooks the kid's arm. The hit didn't look hard, though. It's hard to tell from the video. The kid doesn't look particularly upset at the time, and his glasses don't seem to move at all. The part where the father asks his kid how hard Tigger hit him seems staged, and the father isn't much of an actor. I think that Tigger was provoked. I think he was wrong to smack the kid, but the family is now blowing it all out of proportion.

I could be completely wrong, though.

i saw this...to me, it looks like the kid is trying to either upzip or put his head underneath the head of tigger..I heard that "tigger" said when the kid was doign whatever he was doing, it was making it hard for tigger to breathe...appparently, they wear some type of thing under the head, like a ski mask type thing, so i could see if it got pulled ,eh would have trouble breathing..who knows?!?
