Zack spit once at school. I told the teacher to feel free to throw the book at him so to speak. And then he was also disciplined at home severely. No priveleges including after school treats for a week. I was downright horrified. Luckily this teacher knew me from Blake and knew it wasn't normal behavior for our kids. But things like this is why I don't let the kids watch Shrek and movies like that. Zachary with all his problems doesn't differentiate from a cartoon being funny to it not being polite in real life.! I didn't realize that children and parents like that really existed until this year's preschool class. I have one child that has become very hard to deal with, and I think that he is making it hard for the other children. I am working to have him removed from the class if he can't begin to behave.
The part that really floored me was his mother's attitude. I told her Tuesday that he has become very disobedient and defiant and that he is spitting at people and on the furniture. Not just raspberry type spitting either. She basically laughed it off and said that in his favorite Tom and Jerry cartoon they spit milk out and he thinks it's funny. She told me that she tells him to stop. I informed her that I was ignoring some of the behavior (because he's definitely testing for a reaction), but when it impacts the other children, I need to take some action. Today he ended up sitting in a chair away from the class at least a half dozen times in 2-1/2 hours! Next step is that she or his father will be called to remove him from class for the day. I told dh that I have suddenly become in favor of corporal punishment in the classroom (only half joking!). If I ever had a report about one of my children like that I would be![]()
, and here she just laughs it off. Today his father dropped off and picked up, and he didn't even make an attempt to find out what his behavior was like today.
Sorry that myfor you turned into a vent for me!
