Reason number 768 that Kate is Queen...She emails DDAers with Ding fares! Thanks to an email from Kate this afternoon that there was a $125 (yes roundtrip!) fare from Providence, Terra and I are headed to WDW this weekend. It was a struggle to make the hotels work, but we worked it out. We are headed out Saturday morning and will be back late on Monday. It will be quick, but SOOO worth it for everyone I think (Phil had another terrible morning so he is ecstatic at the idea of some quiet).

I'm not sure what we're going to do yet, but I'm not too worried. I think we'll just hit our favorites, get some autographs and catch a few parades and fireworks. I'm SO excited!!! :mickeyjum :goofy: :donald:
WooHoo!!! :woohoo: Way to go, Tia! Oh, and Kate too!!!

Hi, everyone. Will have to go back and read to catch up. Feeling better here- FINALLY!

I have something I'd like some advice and feedback on, please. I got a call this morning offering me both prenatal classes each month (instead of just the one I teach currently). If I teach both prenatal classes, I would only make $100 short of what I'm making currently. That's 2 days work a month vs 12 days (plus workshops, etc).

I'm also considering working as a substitute teacher in the public school system where the kids attend starting this fall (if I quit teaching preschool). Then I could sub when I wanted, not have to worry about missing their activities, volunteer at the school, and hopefully not get sick so much. I do enjoy the preschool and like the women I work with, but it is a 40 minute commute and not much money, I'm not sure. BTW, subs make $60 per day up to 10 days, and then it is $70 per day.

Now, if I could just figure out how to sell these shirts (or something else) on Ebay, I wouldn't have to worry about it at all!

And, thanks to Kevin for the inspiration for my new signature. It's definitely my favorite one yet. And yes, my dreams really did come true!

I think that the prenatal opportunity sounds great. That would leave you open to other options like subbing when the kids are in school. Plus, it would be easier to work around illnesses, therapy, etc. I'd go for that if the money is fairly similar.

Matt has a brainteaser question for his homework due tomorrow and Paul and I are scratching our heads. Can you please help???

Reese is giving you a puzzle to solve. He says, "It weighs nothing. It can be seen. If it is put in a can, it makes the can weigh less. What is it?"

And the kid is only in second grade!

Helium?

Denise I say definately go for it. 2 days a month vs. 12 will give you more time to focus on your kids. I'm sure that you can get plenty of days subbing, I know that they are always using subs at my kids school. Since your kids are moving on it would be a perfect time for you to move on.

Deb

Denise - I tend to agree with everyone else. Go for the prenatal classes and the subbing. The thing about subbing is you can work when you want. If they call you and you have plans, or just don't feel like working that day, you have the option to say no. I would just love to be able to say "no, I don't feel like working today." I know around here where I live they have such a teacher shortage that subs actually can teach just about everyday if they want. Plus you will be where your kids are, if there is a problem. I go into Nicholas' class once a week to volunteer. I like knowing who the kids are that he is playing with. This will become more important as he gets older. My commute is 50 miles, so I feel your pain there. Have you thought about getting your teaching certificate so you could be a full-time teacher? Does that interest you?

I also must comment on your siggie. You have beautiful children and I love the layout of the pictures.

Okay, here's what I would do. I would take the second class, quit preschool, sub and go to all of my kids activities. :cloud9:

That is so great. All hail the Queen. This last minute planning is getting contagious. Too bad I can't catch that as I do all the sicky stuff around here. :confused3

YAY!!!

Have a great trip!! :rainbow:

I'll take a guess. Could it be a helium balloon. That came to mind immediately so maybe it is too obvious.

Deb

Chris is thinking on it, so I'll post what he comes up with later.

Ooh. I'm jealous. To just jump on a flight and head to Disney. I'm saving my money so we can afford DVC by the end of the year. That way, maybe I can do the same thing in the future.

Have fun!!!! (Like that isn't going to happen!) :rotfl: Glad it works out for your DH as well.

Tia - ditto to all of this! :goodvibes

Chris likes the hole idea. I did explain that it will only work if material is actually removed from the can, not if a hole is poked through the can as then it would weigh the same. Very tough question for a 7 yr old.

I was the queen of spontaneous trips, but haven't done so since we flew to Vegas to get married (long story, but it was actually DH's idea). I'm hoping that Terra likes spontenaity like I do so that I can resume at some point. I can't even get Phil to TRAVEL, let a lone spontaneously.

That's awesome. Maybe when I have kids.... somehow spontaneous solo trips don't sound as cool  I don't think Kyle will EVER be so spontaneous to take a trip the same weekend.... shoot, I don't think he'd do one 6 weeks away like other fantastic DDA husbands ;)

This was my first thought, too, but I like the hole idea more now that I've heard it.

Hi..

Just checking in. I haven't been on in some time. Bill's dad continues to be dying in the hospital. I have never in all of my life seen a worse situation. Every day this poor man has a new issue...today they have decided he now has a staph infection. This is on top of: pneumonia, heart attack, UTI, fever, e coli infection. I hate to sound awful, but most people wouldn't let their pet suffer like this.

I hope everyone is well. There is no way I can catch up..if there is anything new or pressing, could someone please PM me?

Thanks!

Kristine

Kristine,

I am so sorry that the news is not good. Please know that Bill's dad is in my prayers. If there is anything I can do, I'd love to help. This must be such a hard time for you all. I hope that his dad does not continue to suffer any longer.

Kristine - :grouphug: to all of you. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh Kristine, :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I so feel your pain. I'm so so sorry. I know during my Mom's last days I begged God to let her come home. I had her moved to Hospice, where they told me she was pain free, but I didn't believe it then, don't believe it now.

If she were a pet, they would have locked me up if I let her suffer like that. It is a personal peeve of mine that we are not allowed to put our loved ones down with the same dignity as our cats. Okay, off the soapbox and back to our regularly scheduled dising..... Many hugs and prayers to you....
