I would think up the questions and she would answer - I should note the four questions she missed were because she does not know how to read!!!

That's so sweet! So you DO have a romantic proposal story, it just spanned the course of a week! :goodvibes

Yup. I think he really realized he blew it the first time around, and had to really do it up right the second time around. Since then, I have to say, he has become incredibly romantic! Now if I could just get him interested in going to Disney at the drop of a hat, I would have my dream man!

My DH had a romantic proposal planned but I had a 103 fever - so I kind of ruined it -

instead of the best restaurant in town - he proposed to me by my parents Christmas tree

he made me a very sweet card about how he could not imagine his life without me and all this really sweet stuff written on the front - inside it said

I want to ask you the most important question I will ever ask -

that was all the card said and when I looked up = he had the ring out - it was VERY sweet - he is good in the romance department but I am not always properly appreciative of it - well I wasn't when we dated =-) so now I don't get it!!

I blew it!!

That is so sweet! I think every girl should go through an illness while dating a prospective husband to see how he treats her then. It's quite a barometer for marriage. When we were just dating, I came down with pneumonia. Alan came to my apartment every day to feed me, and he even washed my hair for me. He has a gorgeous singing voice, and would sing me to sleep at night. He still does that sometimes. I knew he'd be a wonderful husband if he could treat me so well when I was sick and cranky. And he is!!!!!

Ok, well I guess I have to brag on my hubby too. Although, maybe if I didn't, he would finally come out of lurkdom and post a defense or something!

But he did a nice job. I think maybe he just couldn't decide, because otherwise there's NO excuse for how spoiled I was that day!

He did it on my 19th birthday, maybe so I wouldn't suspect anything? :confused3 That was not really a problem though, becuase just about 2 weeks earlier we had had a HUGE argument about how we just weren't on the same page, etc.... poor guy, having to try and get off the topic, all while knowing darn well that the little ring box was already safely tucked away, plans secured. I drug that discussion out for over an hour! :rotfl: So throughout the day, I didn't know why he was making this birthday such a big deal, but I HONESTLY didn't suspect a proposal! I kept telling myself it was because my 18th birthday sucked, because we fought, because he never has time for me w/med school, etc

He asked my family (Formally) about a week before, and worked out with them what outfits I would need, etc. He picked me up around 1:00 in the afternoon, and took me to Lunken airport (a small, nearby apt for private planes, etc) where he had booked me an introductory flight lesson. It's on my "list of things to do before I die" to get my private pilot's license, so I was stoked! After going to Lunken, we went back to his apartment where he told me to put on a dress that had been packed, so I got ready to go out on the town. We went to a restaurant called Palomino, which overlooks fountain square
fountain_nt.jpg

where they had reserved us a separate table in the corner, with candles etc! That wasn't even his doing, he just had mentioned it was my birthday!

After dinner, he had specifically arranged for a horse-drawn carriage to pick us up and take us to the ballet. Well, the darn thing never showed up! So instead, we walked about 4 blocks in sleet (and stiletto heals!).... yeah, not cool. But I got over it :p At the ballet (Sleeping Beauty), we saw another couple propose in a nearby box, and kind of made a joke about it, etc. I wonder what he was thinking then

So the night was over, I had asked over and over why he did so much for my birthday, and he said things like "you're special", blah blah blah. I believed him though ;) and was ready to call it a night.

At about midnight he brought out a cake and sang to me, and gave me a red rose with the ring tied on the stem .... and did the whole one knee, cute speech thing (although I honestly can't remember what he said... I was hysterical :sad2: ) and I cried, of course.

And then I yelled at him (while laughing, mind you) about arguing with me and telling me he wasn't ready yet. Nice ending, huh? :rotfl2:

I love it! What a great story! Make sure you write it down, so you can remember every detail to tell your children! I just love hearing how other people got engaged. Especially at this time of year!

Boy, you are a lot braver than I am! She scares me! :rotfl:

Okay -- while we are talking about romantic, my DH told me I had to tell you the rest of the story from last week. If you've been following my saga, I have a fantastic husband, but I have one major complaint -- he has no sympathy for all my sinus infection/allergy problems. Anyway, last week I told him about my posts here on that topic, and I think he actually started understanding that it really hurt my feelings. Anyway, he surprised me with this big bouquet of flowers. I was so excited and posted my good fortune on here, before seeing what he had done. He had the florist do red and yellow flowers (who do we know that wears fed and yellow???) AND....
he had her put a hidden mickey in the water of the flowers. He really gets it! (this addiction to Mickey...)

THat was so sweet of your DH. I wish mine would get my disney addition. He just rolls his eyes when I mention something disney.

Here is a picture of our "cadillac" stroller. This was taken in 2001 and it wasn't the first trip for the saddle bags. There is a bag on each side of the stroller and a larger one on the handle. The two saddle bags each had 3 compartments and were designed to fold in the middle creating 2 shoulder bags when removed from the stroller. Each was held on with 3 snaps so putting them on and off was really easy. I made the large handle one with a vinyl liner so it was perfect for wet bathing suits/towels. I really miss not using the double stroller now as it was so easy to take everything we needed and everything was very easily accessible.

Please excuse my stupid pose, but it was the best photo of the bags that I had.

Deb

Edited to add the photo. I posted late last night and didn't include the photo. DUH....

Deb

Okay guys - I just watched High School Musical.

I must admit, I thought it was a bit cheesy at first (and I'm a girl that has Grease memorized!). But...I ended up really liking it. Those songs are catchy!!!! :thumbsup2

I would say, though, that someone needs to teach Gabriella how to lip-sync better!! :teeth:

Okay am I Blind or is it really gone? I am trying to find the thread that was made of everyones upcoming trips. Could some one direct me to it please?

Delinda
