I'm really getting jealous of all the romantic proposals. DH and I were watching videos at my parents home one evening (Hello Dolly!) and about halfway through he looked at me and said, "So, you want to get married or what?" I seriously started laughing and when his face got all sad, I realized he was serious. I sobered up instantly and told him, "Yes." I guess he realized that it was not the proposal of my dreams, though, because about a week later we were at a rehearsal for a play we were both in, and he proposed to me again, center stage, in front of everyone else in the cast. He had a bouquet of a dozen pink carnations and one red rose in the center. He had wired my ring to the rose. It looked beautiful, so I again said, "yes." So, even though the original proposal was a bust, the second one made up for it. Something must have worked since on May 26 we will celebrate 16 years of being married. I just can't imagine what my life would have been like without him. He's definitely my best friend.

Glynis--

You at least received a wonderful second proposal. My husband turned to me and said "I am ready now." Loooooooong story but that was all I have gotten as far as proposals (from him at least).

I shared this on the other thread (I think! Please forgive me if I'm repeating myself on the Trouble-Free thread). My DH proposed to me on Main Street USA during the fireworks.

In typical "us" fashion, however, it was April Fools Day!

We need to get a couple of our DDA men to give a training for some of those husbands that need help in the romance, WDW, and other important areas. I know we have at least three that would do an awesome job teaching (luckily, my husband doesn't need any training).

Does that mean he took it back after April Fools ended? :rotfl:

That's so sweet! So you DO have a romantic proposal story, it just spanned the course of a week! :goodvibes

My DH had a romantic proposal planned but I had a 103 fever - so I kind of ruined it -

instead of the best restaurant in town - he proposed to me by my parents Christmas tree

he made me a very sweet card about how he could not imagine his life without me and all this really sweet stuff written on the front - inside it said

I want to ask you the most important question I will ever ask -

that was all the card said and when I looked up = he had the ring out - it was VERY sweet - he is good in the romance department but I am not always properly appreciative of it - well I wasn't when we dated =-) so now I don't get it!!

I blew it!!

Okay while I was at Walmart at lunch...I found something I bet Julia would like Kate....a Belle Pez. Okay I LOVED it!! :rotfl2:
There were quite a few new Disney pez's there...my husband collects the dispensers.

What dept. in Walmart do you find the iron on paper? The lady in the craft and fabric section looked at me like I was nuts and finally showed me ONE package of paper but I don't think it's the right one. :confused3

It's in the office/school supply section at Walmart. The same place you would get paper for your printer. They have both the light & dark transfer paper there.

I looked there....I thought it was a skimpy selection. Going to have to try another one if this paper doesn't work.

Thanks

For those that liked the MK Field Guide book, I just saw this on the theme park board:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/07...ref=sr_1_1/102-4253725-8299340?_encoding=UTF8

I think this could be even more interesting than MK, but maybe because I felt like I knew that park better already having been to DL weekly for a few years.

That's cool! I knew they were doing each park, but I assumed it would be longer in between. Let's hope whatever date is posted is when it actually comes out this time! The MK book was MONTHS late!

Thanks for posting! :goodvibes

Hey Vicky-

I am bored at work and the only one here. What's your excuse for being on and not working on your scrapbooking? :lmao:

This is great news!!! I also hope it doesn't take too long for it to actually come out. I LOVE my MK one. Lots of neat stuff.

I'm wondering the same thing myself - why aren't I working on my scrapbooking, or my t-shirts, or my autograph pages, or my ... :lmao: Instead I'm sitting in the living room watching Aladdin with my sick DD17 and chatting with the DDA.

Ok, well I guess I have to brag on my hubby too. Although, maybe if I didn't, he would finally come out of lurkdom and post a defense or something!

But he did a nice job. I think maybe he just couldn't decide, because otherwise there's NO excuse for how spoiled I was that day!

He did it on my 19th birthday, maybe so I wouldn't suspect anything? :confused3 That was not really a problem though, becuase just about 2 weeks earlier we had had a HUGE argument about how we just weren't on the same page, etc.... poor guy, having to try and get off the topic, all while knowing darn well that the little ring box was already safely tucked away, plans secured. I drug that discussion out for over an hour! :rotfl: So throughout the day, I didn't know why he was making this birthday such a big deal, but I HONESTLY didn't suspect a proposal! I kept telling myself it was because my 18th birthday sucked, because we fought, because he never has time for me w/med school, etc

He asked my family (Formally) about a week before, and worked out with them what outfits I would need, etc. He picked me up around 1:00 in the afternoon, and took me to Lunken airport (a small, nearby apt for private planes, etc) where he had booked me an introductory flight lesson. It's on my "list of things to do before I die" to get my private pilot's license, so I was stoked! After going to Lunken, we went back to his apartment where he told me to put on a dress that had been packed, so I got ready to go out on the town. We went to a restaurant called Palomino, which overlooks fountain square
fountain_nt.jpg

where they had reserved us a separate table in the corner, with candles etc! That wasn't even his doing, he just had mentioned it was my birthday!

After dinner, he had specifically arranged for a horse-drawn carriage to pick us up and take us to the ballet. Well, the darn thing never showed up! So instead, we walked about 4 blocks in sleet (and stiletto heals!).... yeah, not cool. But I got over it :p At the ballet (Sleeping Beauty), we saw another couple propose in a nearby box, and kind of made a joke about it, etc. I wonder what he was thinking then

So the night was over, I had asked over and over why he did so much for my birthday, and he said things like "you're special", blah blah blah. I believed him though ;) and was ready to call it a night.

At about midnight he brought out a cake and sang to me, and gave me a red rose with the ring tied on the stem .... and did the whole one knee, cute speech thing (although I honestly can't remember what he said... I was hysterical :sad2: ) and I cried, of course.

And then I yelled at him (while laughing, mind you) about arguing with me and telling me he wasn't ready yet. Nice ending, huh? :rotfl2:

C'mon, how many times has Julia1234 seen this movie now...at least 15-20 times, right?!! :teeth:

Write me a 20 question quiz for any of the following:
The Breakfast Club
St. Elmo's Fire
The Lost Boys
Better Off Dead
Say Anything
Sixteen Candles
Pretty Woman

Shall I continue? ;)

Amy :)

I could probably give you a run for your money on some of these too ;)

Ok, here's our proposal.

It was the night before we went back to college for our senior year (we went to different schools) We went to a fancy restaurant in downtown Chicago, a limo picked us up from dinner and took us to Buckingham fountain (I wouldn't get into the limo at first because Tony used to always joke about taking someone else's limo...)
The limo driver had a camera and took pictures of the whole thing  But the stupid camera broke and the film got exposed instead of rewinding :furious:
I do remember that while he was on Lake Shore Drive on one knee asking me, someone drove by and yelled out the window "Say no!!!!!!"

Off Topic: DH agreed to go to Babies R US tomorrow to check out the Maclaren Techno stroller and if he likes it I am going to order it on-line :woohoo: I can finally retire my big Graco travel system we have been using for 2 years that is getting very creaky sounding!!! We bought a lightweight cheapo to bring on our trip last fall and the back wheel kept falling off :furious: Everytime we were on the ground trying to fix it, someone would wlak by with a Maclaren and I would give him the I told you so look :rotfl:
