I wish I was done! I do have all of the matching shirts for the family done. But my wife wanted a couple of more for just in case. She is also burning the midnight oil making a couple of special outfits for her. She made the outfit that dd is wearing in my signature.
She has plans to do a Mickey/Minnie outfit, and a Princess dress for her.
She works best under pressure, so I know they will get done!

Well I see the creative juices run rampant in your family...tell your lovely wife that the outfit is beautiful!!

It is a lot smaller than DW....the castle looks like it could fit inside Cinderella's.

I would be in SO much trouble if I lived that close to the Cadbury factory!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Cadbury cream eggs - they really should sell those all year long!!!

I love the carmel ones they have now!! It's the closest I have tasted to the actual English Cadbury chocolate...our american cadbury is just not the same. I also feel the same way about German gummy bears versus our american version.

Kate-

I love your pics...can I ask you one more question? Where do you get your blank shirts? I really like the ringeron your son and saw your daughter in one w/lettuce edge sleeves....they look great!

I have 8 people to do shirts for (in 4 parks, yikes). The teens and adults will be in big sizes while the short ones in kid sizes.

THANKS
Chris

I bought our adult tees here:

http://www.blankshirtstore.com/

I got the ringer tees at Old Navy - they were my favorite - I got them on clearance last year - I should have stocked up on them -I had no idea I would love them that much!!!!!

http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=5962&pid=375475

Julia's shirts came from Walmart and were only $3.50 - they had matching skirt with them

those were my favorite shirts for her!!!

 the prices???? I reckon I can get 6 curly wurlys for £2 - about $3.50 depending on the exhange rate and they're almost 6 bucks on that site excluding p&p

I'm going to send a parcel to Marti at the end of this week so I'll be able to price up postage and packagin from my end then maybe I should go turkish delight shopping here... I do after all live in Bristol - home of the Frys Turkish Delight {I just had my wedding party at the social club at the Cadbury chocolate factory and it's called the Fry's club after the choc brand :)}

The Turkish Delight is on sale! Anyway, I decided not to buy them right now. By the time Narnia comes out on DVD the candy will be old and yucky! We have a British import store a half an hour away and I will be checking there. If not, my dad is traveling to London in April, and I'll have him pick some up. If that fails, I can always try my hand at making some.

I thought I would tell everyone my favorite story on dating...

Cassidy started asking me when she could date right after she turned 9. I told her we would have to see but group "dates" probably when she 14 and single couple dates when she was 16. Well she kept this up...kept asking and asking so I started adding a month every time she asked..We got to 18 and then she finally asked why it was getting older...I told her because you keep asking!! She wised up and started asking when her sister could date!! :rotfl2:

I told her when she's 14.....Cass was furious!! Why? Mom! Why? Because she isn't asking you are!!

Hello all...

Just checking in...I haven't been around much and mostly likely won't be for a bit. My 91 year old father in law fell and is in the ICU. Very long story...but he isn't doing well. Very stressful, and Bill as the only child is having a hard time. We have been faced with some difficult decisions....we signed a DNR. I truly pray for a peaceful release for him...there's just no quality of life left for him. We are exhausted and functioning on only a few hours of sleep.

Hope all of you are doing well.

Kristine

Glynis - My friend and I went to a fancy dress party last year dressed as Justin from the Darkness (english rock band). We took some jeans and cut them up the side with scissors and then added some fabric to make them into bellbottoms (shh we stapled the fabric on as we only needed them for one night and neither of us could sew!) We actually cut them all the way up to the thigh and then we made some tassles with some leather cord and threaded on beads and a feather on the end and then attached these to the jeans with safety pins at intevals - holding the sides together in the process. I wish I had a photo as they looked cool, and very 70s!

Do you guys not have fancy dress (costume party) shops? We have quite a few over here and they all sell afros and other funky wigs.

There are several shops where I could buy a wig, but I just don't think DH would appreciate it! He hates spending money on stuff like this. I'll check around, though and see if there are any sales going on!

I would love to see a picture of you all dressed up like that! I'm getting pretty excited to do this! Should be fun.

A TON!!

My mom booked a one way back from orlando - she is driving with her sister in her car and then needs to fly home -

her total fare - $47.50 one way

You're killing me!!!!!!!!! SW is not an option for us and SIL is pretty insistant on going 11/26-12/3 so she doesn't have to buy a seat for her daughter who turns 2 on 12/4. Right now we are at $267 pp for those dates (down $100 pp since last week....)

:Pinkbounc I am so excited!! Are you going to find out the sex of the baby?????? And, more importantely ;) are you going to share it with us???
PS: 6 lbs is nothing (I did that in 1 week in my thirdtrimester  )

Glynis -- I was in college in the late 60s and early 70s and I never wore a tie-dyed shirt. I wore jeans (bell bottoms and not) onto which I embroidered flowers and peace signs, etc. I also wore what we called work shirts. I had chambray colored ones and dark green ones and navy ones. I think that they could be found in Walmart or Target or someplace like that. Probably in the men's "uniform" area.

I wore Dr. Scholl's sandals every single day, but many friends wore clogs. My hair was stick straight and down to my waist and my glasses were granny type in style. Oh, and dopn't forget the love beads!! In fact... this looks a lot like me back then :hippie:

In general, I think that many of the styles that we hippies wore back then are now commonplace in everyday wear. It would be hard for you NOT to look right in just about anything you can find.

Spencer gifts might have peace sign things or even a place like Claire's possibly. I bet a place like Party City or a costume shop would have an Afro wig too.

I'm definitely going shopping this weekend to pick up stuff for our creations. I think I'll pick myself up a peasant blouse as they are now back in style. It's just too bad that I don't still have my old platform sneakers that I wore in the 70's. I plan on picking up peace signs, love beads and granny glasses. This is going to be so much fun!

My older step-daughter had a "guy-friend" come over to pick her up for a date. She was probably 15 or 16 at the time. Of course she wasn't ready for the date so the guy sat at the kitchen table with her dad, her older brother and his friend. I am sure he felt pretty intimated. Her dad told the guy that he had a shot gun and a shovel and he wasn't afraid to use either one. Well needless to say that was there one and only date. Is my husband a "redneck" or what!!! I was sitting in the other room and couldn't believe he said it. Well of course Melissa is 26 now and yes she survived all the taunts her Dad put her thru....I thought that was funny though.

Another funny date story.......My dad always told me that when I turned 16 and could car date to be sure they guys had really nice back seats. That turned me about 3 shades of red and I explained that I would not be in the back seat. He said that was good 'cause that is where he would be sitting..... :rotfl2: I can still laugh about that one.

I missed the second part of this before. I did that with jeans for my daughter once. Yes, it does work. Slit up the outseam and inseam and insert triangles of fabric.

Beth

Cool, thanks for helping me with this! I think I can actually do this! I really want to do a tie dye for at least my husband. It would definitely push him out of his comfort zone!

Glynis - I think if you were to do just regular tiedying it would not be nearly as difficult and time consuming as the Mickey heads. I think you can handle it, especially with the help of your kids. ;) They would get a kick out of it.

The jeans idea sounds good too. Are you handy with a sewing machine or needle and thread? If not, since this is just a costume, you could probably get away with hot gluing the fabric, or using that stuff that you iron with that makes it stick together. Deb, I'm sure you know what this stuff is. I can't think of the name right now.

I'm pretty handy with a sewing machine, but I thought I'd just use some fusible web to do the fabric inserts. Do you think that would work? I could sew them, I guess, but I'm really just going for quick, easy and fun! I'm definitely going to do some tie dying. Thanks for the encouragement!

How about a headband thingy in matching fabric that you use on the jeans?

Very good idea. I'd forgotten about that. My hair isn't that long, but I've got to have the headband, and glasses, right?

No optical illusion. It is smaller. However, that just means you can get more walking done before your feet feel like they are going to fall off! It doesn't feel that small when you're there, you just get immersed in the Disney magic and it doesn't matter.

Disneyland is the original Magic Kingdom! :sunny: Now that there's a second park, they do refer to it as the Disneyland Resort, but most people will forever call the Magic Kingdom "Disneyland."

Yes, it is smaller, but there's a lot packed in there...so many original features that just can't compare to WDW's MK. There are also several unique rides that WDW never recreated like the Matterhorn, Alice, Casey...

We've been twice...it is a "must do" for every Disney fan!

Amy :)

Thanks, Amy. You put it into the right words. It is a "must do"! We love Disneyland. Granted we've never been to WDW, but we "know" DL backwards and forwards and feel like it is home! My kids want to go all the time, and spend hours every day looking at our DL pictures. We just love it there!
