Thank you everyone for my Birthday wishes!! DH took me to dinner and a play, so we just got home. The play was very different, a dark comedy called Vigil. Anyway we had a good night.

Kate, congrats on post 5000, and I hope you feel better soon.

And lastly, I just received a very upsetting e-mail when I got home tonight. A friend that I have known for almost all my life is in the last stages of melanoma. They were advised today to begin end of life planning. They have 3 boys ages 15, 18 and 21, that my boys have been friends with over the years. She has been through more than you can imagine, including having both of her feet amputated in November due to a blood infection she got while her immune system was knocked out for a treatment. Anyway, they have been through so much, and now I believe it is time for it to end. It is so sad, and yet inevitable from what I understand. And I suppose it is time for the suffering to end for her, and for her family to try to begin to heal. But it is still just so incredibly sad and hard for me to comprehend. Well, I just needed to get that out.

I need to go to bed.

I am happy you had a good birthday.

So sorry to hear about your friend. I will be thinking and praying about her, her family and yours in this time of transition.

Happy Birthday to everyone that I might have missed. Last week our youngest son turned 27. I feel old and young at the same time. :lmao:

Anyone that is now on a trip or getting ready to take one, hope it will be or is funtastic.

EVERYONE STOP GETTING SICK!!!!!

Denise, sending pixiedust: your way

Anyone feeling blue, I can relate, it is the time of year. All of the holidays are done with.

Now I need to have anyone tell me that it is all in my head literally.

Saturday night my DH and I went out and met our kids to celebrate youngest son's b-day. I knew it would be smokey and told myself that we would leave if it got really bad. After over two hours, we finally left. I went to sleep after taking some medication, and woke up at 5am. :confused3
I took a shower and more migraine medicine and sat in front of the computer and played games. I could just not go to sleep. Hubby looked at me when he got up and told me to go to bed. I did but really did not sleep, just dozed. I noticed I still smelled smoke. I was like a crazy person walking around the house, cleaning and doing laundry to get rid of any smoke smell I could find. Woke up Monday morning and could STILL smell smoke. I finally left work an hour early and went home and rested on the recliner. DH made supper for me which I could only eat a little bit. I took more migraine medicine but it got worse overnight and I stayed home on Tuesday.
Here it is Wednesday and I just cannot get rid of the smell. Could it be my sinuses? Am I going crazy? :guilty: I am very sensitive to light and am not really hungry at all. Of course the next step is the DR but what do I tell him? With no insurance, I am not looking forward to any BS.
Any ideas?

Terry
I am clueless on this but I hope you start to feel better soon!!

I have gone through the same thing!! and it literally stinks :guilty: !!
I am surprised you lasted two hours....I can't last a half an hour and it takes days to get that smell out of my nose. Have you washed those clothes that were worn that night? This includes jackets and things worn by others. If worse comes to worse I spray some smelly stuff that doesn't have quite the same affect on me and smell that for a bit. Doesn't completely take the smell away but it does help. But I can be sick for a week after time in a smoky place. I know there's other things I do but I am so very seldom in a smoky enviroment anymore. If I think of them I will tell you.

Feel better soon!! :wizard:

I don't know how to help you, but I wanted to let you know that this winter I've had many times that I get an almost cigarette like smoke smell that I know isn't real. At first I was tearing the house apart trying to figure out what I was smelling. Then I realized that I smell it other places sometimes, too, and I know that it isn't on me. I have chalked it up to olfactory hallucinations (or me just being plain crazy), but I haven't gone to a doctor for any explanation. I don't have it all the time. Some days I have it more/longer than others. I do get migraines and have sinus problems, but I haven't charted it to see if there is any relation.

HI, all!!! I haven't had a chance to read through everything, and I need to run back out now. I'll catch up one of these days. In the meantime, I'm thinking of all of you!

For those of you who have gone to Disney in October, have you used the EMH? If you have, would you recommend them? Are they very crowded?

Tammi -- The girls and I used EMH one night at Epcot and enjoyed it. We got to ride Soarin' with no wait. The thing is, that is probably too late fo your little ones. Can't speak for the other ones though.

Theresa,

I washed everything. Even the sheets, my coat, aired out my purse. This smell is staying with me like an unwanted nagging fly buzzing around my head in the summer :confused3 :lmao: I used some Zicam, also some stuff that I can rub under my nose but absoutely nothing is working. I was even using a bleach pen last night and was cleaning a spot on the counter, and that didn't even work :worried:

Sounds like a really bad migraine and reaction to the smoke. Take your migraine meds, drink caffeine, and rest. For the smell, have you washed all the sheets, clothes, etc? Also use Febreeze spray on anything you've been near. Smoke is terribly hard to get out of fabric, so you'll need to air it out. It may take a week or so for it to 'fade'. In the meantime, you can put a gel (lipgloss, vick's vapor rub, etc) under your nose to mask the smell and introduce a more pleasant aroma. Yes, Vicks isn't pleasant, but it should cover up the smoke smell and help clear out your sinuses!:rotfl2:

Congrats on 5000 and glad you're feeling better today. And, you totally suck, because I stayed up until 1am last night watching that movie on the Disney Channel because you said it was good. Now I'm tired and it's your fault!!!:rotfl2: BTW, it was really cute, but I didn't tape it (yes, I have a VCR!!!!!!!), so I'll have to wait until it's on again. We can't get a DVR or TiVo as our TV's are all 15 years old and don't have any inputs except the coaxial cable. DH refuses to buy a new TV when these work fine. :sad2:

Ok, Brantley-Kate is much better today! DH's Nana did well with surgery. Now, it's just wait to see if it helps improve her kidney output and failure. Still haven't heard from PBS, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I broke my wireless modem card last pm, so I have to go buy a new one today. DH was not happy. OH, well!

Oh, and if anyone is around I need some help this am! The kids are studying space and the solar system at school. We have to make "space helmets" for school tomorrow. They get to go to a "planetarium" and "outer space". It should be fun. They suggest using bike helmets which I have. Any ideas on how to convert them to space helmets? I want theirs to be the best! I thought about covering them in tin foil and adding antennae (pipe cleaners with Styrofoam balls on the ends). Any other ideas? They can be anything (themes like favorite characters, colors, etc). Just remember I have to do 3 by tomorrow!
