Thank you everyone for my Birthday wishes!! DH took me to dinner and a play, so we just got home. The play was very different, a dark comedy called Vigil. Anyway we had a good night.

Kate, congrats on post 5000, and I hope you feel better soon.

And lastly, I just received a very upsetting e-mail when I got home tonight. A friend that I have known for almost all my life is in the last stages of melanoma. They were advised today to begin end of life planning. They have 3 boys ages 15, 18 and 21, that my boys have been friends with over the years. She has been through more than you can imagine, including having both of her feet amputated in November due to a blood infection she got while her immune system was knocked out for a treatment. Anyway, they have been through so much, and now I believe it is time for it to end. It is so sad, and yet inevitable from what I understand. And I suppose it is time for the suffering to end for her, and for her family to try to begin to heal. But it is still just so incredibly sad and hard for me to comprehend. Well, I just needed to get that out.

I need to go to bed.

 Ellen. How sad about your friend. I can't even imagine what she has been through. I wish the best for you and her family at this hard time.

OK, here's my question. Any of you other DVCers, feel free to chime in as well.

Do you still plan something for everyday? I am a commando planner and I can't get past the "not having something on my itinerary" idea. Do you still do a park each day. We are only going to be there Wed-Sun in Oct, but will be going back for a week in Apr/May. So, I really do want to slow down, but the OCD planner in me can't let go. We will be getting APs so that is not a factor. How do I slow down, but still get my thrill out of planning?
I just typed out a HUGE response and Nick hit a button and deleted it - UGH!!!!!! so here it goes again!

We go to the parks as much as possible - the beautiful thing is that you feel much less pressure to get things done - so you do things at a slower pace!! My kids will sleep wherever and so we never go back to the room - our big trick is at least one sit down meal a day - this really gives us a chance to relax and make sure the kids eat a good meal!!!

we plan our MK days for the days of MNSSHP - even when we weren't going - between 2 and 6 - there is NO ONE in the MK - we got so much done on those days - then we had dinner outside the park or went to DTD - I highly reccomend this and have a ton of tips for you!!

I say plan away Tammi!!!!

Thank you all for the get well wishes!

I feel MUCH better today - but I need to be careful b/c everyone else who had it felt better on day two and then sick again on day 3!!

woo HOO - time for my daily dose of High School Musical!!! Julia LOVES it and so does Nick - but I think since we have now watched it 10 times since Sunday - that maybe I have seen it enough!!

I did break down and watch it last night. It was pretty cute. I have to agree that the Grease similarities helped in its appeal as I LOVE that movie. Apparently my sister has watched it every time that it has aired since Friday. I think that I'm going to have to record it to DVD for her when it's on next week. Maybe then my mom can get to watch something other than that every night during prime time. :)

I wait to slow it down until we arrive. The OCD planning part is just as fun to me, but just because I plan the heck out of the trip doesn't mean I don't slow it down once we're there. I think that I plan like a commando, but tour like a local/frequent visitor. We tend to get a lot done, but we don't worry too much about hitting as much as possible. I also tend to plan the first few hours of the morning in detail (Dumbo to Peter Pan to Pooh, etc), but after that I'm doing good to know what park I'm spending the afternoon in. Hope that helps! :confused3

Theresa,

I washed everything. Even the sheets, my coat, aired out my purse. This smell is staying with me like an unwanted nagging fly buzzing around my head in the summer :confused3 :lmao: I used some Zicam, also some stuff that I can rub under my nose but absoutely nothing is working. I was even using a bleach pen last night and was cleaning a spot on the counter, and that didn't even work :worried:

Terry

Well. gee willikers!! I have no idea....I would hate to say just let it wear off because I know the pain you are going through. Can you "taste" the smoke still?

That's what we do too! It works out so much better for us. When we went with my parents and my dad's co-worker in August we went back to the condo the 1st day. Well, Terra fell asleep just before lunch and woke up right before we left to go back to the condo. During the break, she got bored and had to be entertained the whole time. The rest of the week my mom and I stayed at the parks with Terra while everyone else took a break. We got so much more done that way and Terra was much happier to not be stuck in a hotel.

That's a great idea! I had wondered in December how the parks were the afternoon of the parties as they seemed pretty good when we came in around 4.

We have yet to see High School Musical, much to Cassidy's and mine consternation :sad2: I also think the lead is a cutie pie and I always tell myself that I am just looking for Cassidy :teeth: . Saw the object of Cassidy's desire...I mean her crush :lovestruc ...Jake at the school today. He is cute but I am trying to figure out he passed her test as she hates boys who have their bottoms at their knees!! He was one of the few boys in a tie for the honor roll ceremony...so he is smart, loves Disney and cute...no wonder Cass likes him. :rotfl2:

Ditto! I love to plan commando style, but realistically with Kyle only being 3.5 on this next trip, he won't be able to do it.

We had hoped on his last trip when he was 2.5 that he would just snooze in his stroller- but did he? NOPE- NOT ONCE!! But I shouldn't be surprised - he was never the type to sleep in the stroller or the car (even as an infant) there was just too much to see! We had to go back to the resort everyday for a couple of hours and hit the pool or even just chill in the room and let him play with his matchbox cars. The one day we didn't we go the mother of all meltdowns...........

Since I am in the early stages of planning ( :rotfl: Who am I kidding? I have 7 different plans depending on which day of the week we arrive - which of course is contingent upon the d#@n airfare :rotfl2: ), I have built more relax time in. MIL is crazy commando (worse than all of you- I assure you!!!!!!!) and doesn't understand why I have all this down time. I have tried explaning that we will be there for 8 DAYS! There is plenty of time, but she is a hurry-up-and-get-it-all-done in the first 5 days and then go back for repeats later. Try telling a 3 year old "Sorry, you already rode Dumbo on Moday, grandma says we can't go back until Friday or Saturday!" :lmao:

Kristin

Ellen - I am so sorry for your friend and her family. Lots of prayers coming your way.

Kate - I'm glad you're feeling better, but so sorry you caught the flu after all.

Marti and Skunka - Welcome Home! Get busy on the trip report!

Ok, then. The most I will plan is what park we are doing on which day and the corresponding TS meal. I can live with that.

I so hope we can get into one of the boardwalk resorts, as it will make my planning so much easier.

Thanks Everyone for your kind words!

Denise – So sorry to hear about your Dh’s grandmother, sending prayers & pixiedust: .

I will say a special prayer for the insurance. It is so difficult to get the help your special needs child has and still maintain some normalcy for the other children. Just because you and DH work to provide does not mean you still don’t need that insurance! Grr! :furious: The whole system irritates me! Denise, when Grace’s insurance denied the claims. I went to the pediatrician’s office with a letter in hand, all she had to do was sign it. She was happy with what I wrote and signed it right then, made a copy for Grace’s chart and things were changed. It took some time and research on my part but was well worth it.

Good Luck on Everyone’s Airfare! I hate looking for airfare. Thank goodness I am related to the Queen, I don’t usually have to search for it myself! ::yes::

"I just read an article in our paper about a couple that was trying to make it in one of those dream houses with all the taxes. They said that most people couldn't possibly keep the home and come up with the taxes. I haven't seen the new one." From Beth

I think I could come up with the taxes if I did not have a mortgage, but keeping up with the home is a whole other issue!! I often wonder that on Extreme home makeover. How do those people do it after the crews leave? :confused3 I need to watch some follow-ups! I hate the housework I have, I cannot imagine in an 8000 sq ft house!!!!!! OHHH I just registered for it! Itis in Ashville NC! Wow! You could probably use it for vacations and a rental and make big $$! :thumbsup2

Amy, what is your favorite restaurant? OMG I miss Cincinnati! I live in a small town now, not many places to eat out at all. And now we can’t return to one of our favorites, because Julia threw up all over it Saturday!!! And the reservations were in my name!!! UGG!! :crazy2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Happy Birthday Ellenbenny! I am a day late! party:
Lots of thoughts for both you and your friend.

Jennifer, Your match list looks great! I know this waiting is making you CRAZY!

Tinker1bell What is the deal with your signature? It is flashing a big gray bar under tink? Can anyone else see it??

HOW TO STOP PEOPLE FROM BUGGING YOU ABOUT GETTING MARRIED
Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals

Well, Grace finally went back to school. Everyone was back to their normally scheduled programming.... I work at school til 11:30 everyday. I decided to wait til Grace returned from lunch to see how she was doing before I left. She came around the corner and threw up at my feet! :crazy2: Se also had the rash again! I had not seen the rash since Sunday!

Since she had the rash during Dr.'s hours I went straight to the Ped's office. DH met me there. They did a strep test, urine test and both were negative. Since that was neg. they sent me to the hospital for blood work. Oh Fun! Grace fell asleep at the Ped's office and again at the hospitial. The blood work came back negative. So it is just a nasty virus!

I decided to keep her home from school the rest of the week. Today she seemed better, but did not eat great and slept a ton! I cannot stand this! I may jsut go back to the Dr. on Friday for reassurance!

Everyone else is better and back to normal, if there is such a thing! Thanks to everyone for their prayers and PD!

:lmao:

I like this one the best!

Since I am on a roll and noone else is around... Here's another :rotfl:

Man of the House

The husband had just finished reading the book, "MAN OF THE HOUSE".
He stormed into the kitchen and walked directly up to his wife.
Pointing a finger in her face he said, "From now on, I want you to
know that I am the man of this house and my word is law! I want you to
prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, I expect a
sumptuous dessert afterward, Then after dinner, you are going to draw
me my bath so I can relax. And when I'm finished with my bath, guess who's
going to dress me and comb my hair?"

His wife replied.

"The funeral director would be my guess"

:rotfl2: :lmao:

Oh no! Is she running a fever? On a few times my kids would break out in a rash if they had a fever....roseola, I think.

Thank goodness no. That only lasted a few hours. Too bad it is really cold here because if some farmer would clean out the barn, that might help or if there was a dead skunk (sorry Paul) on the road that would really clean out the sinus canal

That's a good one too, Nancy. Got anymore?
