As my daughter was eating lunch today, I asked her what she was going to eat at Disney World. She responded by saying "cake". I asked her why cake? She said because it is going to be my Birthday!
O.K., I know I read this on the DisBoards before, but frankly don't have the time to research it right now. I completely forgot to order a cake for her. Is this really necessary? Is it too late for me now? Man, I thought I was better than this. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

You can order a cake, don't have the number off the top of my head...but CRO wanted to give it to me for my trip this summer...Make sure to have it noted on the dinner reservations and don't forget to pick her up a birthday pin at the park. I am sure I am leaving something else:

oh yeah!!

HAVE a GREAT TRIP!!! And Happy Birthday!!!

I was playing around on E-bay at lunch today and found the most awesome Mickey Mouse purse. I would love to have it, but $199 as a BIN for a white purse won't cut it for me.

The only real drawback is the extremely long handles. I am too short to carry it off.

What do you think?

TOM - Babytrees is right... there is a number you can call for a larger, personalized cake.

Otherwise, especially for smaller groups, the table service restaurants in the parks all have 6" cakes (serves up to 5 I think they said? That's how many we had and it was fine) that are delicious! They don't have names on them, but the Cast Members bring it out with a candle, sing, etc -- and it tastes great! All you have to do is ask when you check in (in fact, they won't do anything over the phone for these cakes). They are $12, and the ones you order can be much more pricey than that... I don't specifics on those, though.

Hope that at least helps provide another option!

ETA: here's the cake from the TS restaurants:

Thanks! I thought I had everything planned out. But, I forgot the cake! There will be 5 in our party, so that might just be fine. Otherwise, I will try to order a special cake for her and maybe have it delivered with balloons to our room while we are out. (If that is even possible? :confused3 ) Her birthday is Tuesday, so, hopefully I will have enough time to pull it off.

Glad to help! Just know that if you order a cake from the bakery (as mentioned, CRO or 407.wdw.dine can give you the number) they require at least 48 hours. Have fun! :goodvibes

Hello all...

Just checking in...I haven't been around much and mostly likely won't be for a bit. My 91 year old father in law fell and is in the ICU. Very long story...but he isn't doing well. Very stressful, and Bill as the only child is having a hard time. We have been faced with some difficult decisions....we signed a DNR. I truly pray for a peaceful release for him...there's just no quality of life left for him. We are exhausted and functioning on only a few hours of sleep.

Hope all of you are doing well.

Kristine
:grouphug: :wizard: Prayers for your family, especially DH.

For you folks that have been to Disneyland - it looks alot smaller than Magic Kingdom. Is it? Or is that just an opitcal illusion?

Disneyland itself is probably a little smaller than the Magic Kingdom, but not by much. The think that makes it seem so much smaller is that the whole resort is in a 5 block (or so) square as opposed to spread across 47 square miles. It takes about 2 minutes to walk out of Disneyland and into California Adventure...a whole new meaning to "park hopping". :)

I think that the main reason Disneyland feels smaller is that there are more attractions in the same amount of space.

So, I gained six pounds this month! The nurse tried to make me feel better and say this was the only weight I've put on, but still...

We heard the heartbeat immediately! :goodvibes The ultrasound is scheduled for February 28th.

Amy :)
6 pounds isn't that bad. :grouphug: Let us know how the ultrasound goes.

We celebrated Nicholas' 5th bday in WDW. Did Crystal Palace for bfast and Chef Mickey's for dinner. I let both restaurants know ahead of time that we were celebrating a birthday and at both locations he got a cupcake, complete with candle, and we were able to sing happy birthday, with the characters joining in. If you think that will satisfy her, I wouldn't worry about ordering a whole cake. Where are you dining on her actual bday?

Also, be sure to let your resort know about her bday. They may ask you who her favorite character is. Sometimes, though not always, they will put a little surprise in the room. We found a bday card from Mickey & gang in our room, with sigs from all of the characters.

Do you have ADR's for a restaurant on her birthday? I would call back the ADR # and request a cake from them. As soon as you check into your resort have them also confirm it.

That is so cute! I love it. It's even better than what I had in mind. Do you think your wife would mind if borrowed her idea and adapted it a little to fit Terra's toyboyishness?

Congrats on the heartbeat, and I guess the weight gain, too. I don't think you have to worry, though. Six pounds sounds ok to me. But what do I know? I was so sick through all 3 of my pregnancies that I lost weight. My doctor told me that I was the only woman she knew who always went into delivery at least 25 pounds lighter than on the day of the first appointment. Unfortunately, all that weight that was lost during the pregnancy came back with a vengeance afterwards!

Are you feeling any better? Any other cravings, yet? How's Alyssa doing with all this? Does she know what's going on? My oldest was 2 when Jacob was born, and when she came to see me in the hospital, the nurse brought her in a present that I had bought to give her. She told Katie that Jacob wanted her to have a gift. It was a little doll, dressed just like Jacob and the nurses wrapped it in an identical blanket that Jacob was wrapped in. She loved it immediately, and never had a problem with the baby after that! Before the birth, she hated him! She would punch my stomach and scream, "no baby!" I was so worried, but all was for naught! They are inseparable, now!
My first was a little over 1 when Zachary was born and when he saw him he told my DH to put him back. :rotfl: Up until he saw him he didn't even give it a thought though. I think it was because he was so young he adjusted well. it is funny how kids react to siblings. Of course, now my oldest keeps asking about another. His reasoning? 5 is a better number than 4. Like that's a reason for me to go through all that again. :lmao:

My nausea still comes and goes, but I definitely feel better than I did a month ago (knock on wood!). My Subway craving has passed...no other cravings have popped up yet. Sweets are completely unappealing to me. Kevin has almost single-handedly eaten a bag of M&Ms because they don't taste good to me. Weird! I do still like Captain Crunch and Coke though (not together!). That might explain my weight gain. ;)

Since I'm barely showing, I'm not really sure how to explain anything to Alyssa. I tell her she's going to be a wonderful big sister all the time. I also have been researching good children's books to buy to "prepare" her for the baby's arrival. Alyssa did get a bitty baby doll for Christmas, but she's not really "into" it yet. Thanks for sharing your story Glynis..I love happy endings! :goodvibes

Amy :)
I have a few books on being a new sibling. I'll dig them out to send to you if you want.

Just don't post this on the CB...they'll eat you alive and tell you you're a horrible parent. :teeth:

I hope Julia1234 is feeling better soon!

Amy :)
Why? My boys sometimes do this, they don't like the dark. Can it cause problems later? :confused3

Tom - tell your DW that outfit is AMAZING!!!!! Exactly what I'd want my little girl to wear!!

Definitely make sure to tell your resort about her b-day (and have her oh so sweetly tell the CM checking you in that's it her b-day).

Both DH and myself celebrated our b-days in the World this year, and we both got cards and a cake in our room, no charge. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, but if they'd do this for 2 adults, I can only imagine the service a 4-yr. old in that Minnie outfit would get! ;)

Yes we do. CRT for breakfast and Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner. Not sure if WCC does cakes or not?

Sorry this is :offtopic: but it reminded reminded me of something someone said to me today. A lady came in to my store today with her Husband or boyfriend. She was probably in her mid forties. They were together a while whatever the case. She asked me which I would rather have for Valentine's Day a dozen of roses or a Black and Decker Scumbuster.

I said the roses. She said to me well you are too young, because the roses will die. So I want a Scumbuster.

No matter which answer I would give I would be wrong. :confused3 Depending on who I was talking to. I was trying not to :lmao: .

So who wants a Black and Decker Scumbuster for Valentine's Day?? :rotfl:

Becky
OK what? :rotfl2: I could see getting one (my DH is practical )but I wouldn't be as thrilled with it as roses and candy. Too funny.
ETA: of course the best gift would involve Disney. :teeth:

Our TA noted that it was Leighanna's birthday on the reservation, so maybe we will be dusted with Pixie Dust.
