Good Morning!

Not really since I was up most of the night for no apparent reason. But have a good day everyone.

Thank you for the E-Card Heidi.

Elin and Anne Marie-It is federal law that all children be provided with an appropriate education for their situation, this includes gifted and when either learning disabilities and/or giftedness occurs an IEP is written up at a meeting with the parents, counselor and not always though the teacher. The teacher should receive a copy of the IEP each year and they need to be updated, can't recall how often. Here is a link to the guide to IEP on www.ed.gov, I'm not sure if this is the exact link you need for the information that you need however I need to get to work and don't have the time to find it right now.

Love the graphic!!

We have an IEP meeting once a year....it was twice when it was first in place. You can have an IEP or Individualized Education Plan no less than once every school year.

Once we hit Middle School with Abi I don't believe we will have an IEP in place because of the class options.

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for Aurora, the Evil Cat. Hopefully she just has some dust up her nose.

maybe it's wire dust. :teeth:

Seriously Elizabeth...hope Aurora feels better soon.

I am at work right now.......the last day of school before Christmas break was cancelled....we are at the beginning of a blizzard....it's one of the hazards of living so close to where I work!!

Aurora feels well enough to play with her favorite shoe string, so that's good. I will tell DH to keep an eye on her while I am at work today.

I am going to think about attempting to put some lights on the tree. I just realized the lights I bought are NOT string to string lights, so that may pose a problem.

I like the rules of eating, but sorry I will not leave the fruit cake alone. I love the stuff, have some in the fridge right now. YUM

We are all doing well, thanks! It was just a tad more tedious than I had envisioned

It was kind of surprising that they would start it this close to the hectic holiday season. It seems to me it would be perfect to start after the new year. Oh well, what do I know?

Heidi - I have probably tasted fruitcake, but we have never owned one.

Glynis - Maybe they did it on purpose, hoping the holidays would limit participation? :confused3 Obviously the only folks who would be willing to do it are REALLY dedicated. And of course there will be teams who have people who don't pull their weight, and that would be very frustrating after awhile. I don't like group projects anyway, so I would really be in trouble.

DS and I managed to put 2 strings of lights on the tree. It doesn't look half bad. I have 2 more hours before I have to go to work, so we'll probably put some ornaments on it between now and then. DH should be home before I leave, so someone will be home with Aurora all day to watch her. DH is off tomorrow, so someone will be around most of the day to watch her tomorrow, too. DS has to go to the orthodontist in the afternoon, but I don't think they have big plans for the rest of the day.

Elizabeth, you should give fruit cake another try. ::yes::

I like the dark better than the light, plus the one I have now has rum in it. Trappist Monks make it.

http://www.trappistmonks.com/

There is some bakery not too far from here that specializes in fruitcake. If I wasn't trying to think of the name I would have no trouble remembering it.

The link says the monks are sold out. Maybe next year!

Just wanted to thank you all for the wonderful Christmas cards that have been filling my mailbox each day. I love them all, and it is so nice to see all the beautiful DDA families. I was a tad lazy and didn't get my cards out, so please check your PMs for a greeting from us! I wish you all a blessed holiday season and New Year. May God bless each and every one of you!

Heidi - It was bugging me, so I had to look it up! Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, TX. Yahoo cakes is the other one I have seen. They used to set up a store in the mall for a few months to sell all their goodies, but I haven't seen them recently. Mary of Pudding Hill used to have a temporary shop too, but that's another one I haven't seen in several years. Guess they decided it wasn't worth the rent. :confused3

I'm getting ready to head out. Have a great week everone!

Becky - thanks for the update. We got a new IEP for our kids every single year. Whether or not it was because it is a requirement or because the gifted teachers in our school district are all on the ball, I don't know. But Anne Marie -- your DS deserves a better education than they are giving him now and you can get it without spending $10,000 a year. Look into this and see if it will help.

Hmm. I don't think I want to rewrite the "Love Boat" theme. My tree is still naked, none of my gifts are wrapped, heck, I'm not even finished shopping. And it is POURING rain today. :guilty: Of course I am getting so much accomplished while I sit here on the computer! :rotfl:

Aurora has been very "sniffly" this morning. I am worried that she is getting sick. This happened back in the Spring. She started sneezing over and over, then she got lethargic and her eyes got all watery. The vet said she has feline herpes (which I never even heard of), which she probably contracted in the shelter because they didn't keep any of the cats in cages. In cats it is a respiratory thing. She was horribly sick for about 10 days. We took her in to see the vet twice. DH had to force feed her with a syringe. She is an evil kitty, but I don't want her to be sick, so if anyone has some pixie dust for her to be well I would appreciate it. :wizard:

Elin, your plan backfired!
so I see.... but maybe if Aurora is sick she will leave the tree alone.

Elin - If I don't talk to you before you leave, safe travels and have a WONDERFUL trip!

Thanks, Tammi - and you travel safely too. Give the kids a Christmas hug from me, please.
