Aragon is a book that is coming out as a movie on Friday. It's by a Montana teenager....if your into that type of book. Abi lost interest in it about 1/3 of the way through but it isn't her type of book.

My mother bought that for Matthew, too, but he never read it. Dh did. He said that it was good, though the fact that the author was a teenager "explained a few things." I'm not sure exactly what...maybe the writing was a little less complex than he is used to.

A friend of mine has a dd 13 who loved it and couldn't wait until Eldest came out.

I haven't read it yet.

The author was 15 when he wrote it and 19 when it was published. He is in his early-mid 20's now.

OK, DDA! The bids are finished!!

We got (drumroll, please) our second choice! We are now booked at WL August 15-24. Our free dining ressie changed over, no problem!

Now for the POSSIBLE complications:
DS SHOULD start back to school Aug. 27 because they passed new legislation mandating all TX public schools start no earlier than Aug. 27. If they start earlier we are in trouble. If they start Aug. 20 we would lose half our vacation. If they start Aug. 13 we are squashed like bugs.

The other complication is that DS is starting middle school and I imagine if they have an orientation he will miss it, because they will do it the week before school starts. (Assuming school starts Aug. 27.) There is no info on the district website for '07-'08 yet.

DH's other week is Easter. Since we are going to WDW in February and since Easter is crowded and expensive I think we won't go that weekend. DS might have Friday and Monday IF there are no ice days before then. If he gets the days off we might go visit my mom.

Great news Elizabeth. I'll keep sending PD that the school system now doesn't screw up your plans.

I need some book suggestions for my nephew. He loves to read books like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, ect. Help!

It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen for 7 year olds!

Thank you for letting me know I'm not just crazy!

I especially see this as a problem in that house as they obviously have a very loose parenting style if that 6 year old boy (at the time) had that kind of language. After that "incident" that boy was leaving messages on our answering machine saying he wanted a playdate with the mom in the background telling him to leave a message. I have never met her and she thinks I'm going to let Lizzy have a playdate with her child who wants to kiss her where?

I can see that Yankee Swap getting very "competitive" about who gets the best present and then everyone else leaves in a bad mood.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini, the movie is coming out soon. A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett, I think there are now like 14 books in the series. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer.
