Hi everyone!!!!!!!!! I am back from Vegas!!! I was surprised at how much there was to do there. We got to see Phantom of the Opera (wonderful), the Titanic exhibit (very moving), & took a gondola ride at the Venetian. The weather was chilly, about 50's but very sunny!!!

Hope you are all doing well & someone can bring me up to speed with what has been happening while I was gone.

Yep & that is after the freezing rain! We have a winter storm watch out from 3am Thur. - 12pm Fri. I do hope that this amounts to nothing. I will keep my fingers & toes crossed for you!

I am freaking out...we are supposed to get a foot of snow tomorrow night...and we are to fly out Fri. am!

Good Morning, DDA!!

It's a brisk 20 degrees outside and not expected to get any warmer...we have probably 3 inches of snow and it's still coming down.

Hey Theresa, I don't know if I remembered to tell you this, but my trip to Colorado that was supposed to be this week got postponed, but now that I hear about your weather, I am glad I'm not out there.

As it turns out they rescheduled for the week of Jan 8th, which is when I will still be at WDW after the 1/2 marathon, so my coworker will be going instead of me. Since I was going to have to share a vehicle with 6 people and sit through boring meetings, and not be able to visit you, I don't feel too bad about missing the trip anyway.

I agree with you! Math is one of the things in life that should be more or less black and white. Don't go making things fuzzy and funky. If you know what you are doing and consistently come up with the correct answers, you are right...even if you do it differently than the teacher. Tell Cassidy to hang in there!

It's hard when teachers grade differently. Laura had a couple of woodpeckers in 6th grade. Her one friend who had a different team of teachers used to always comment on how low Laura's grades were in comparison to her own. Now Laura is in accelerated math and science and this girl is in neither. It's just the way the teachers graded in 6th that made it look like her grades were lower.

Beth, I thought that with the newer NYS learning standards that they were required to grade on the thought process more than the answer in math. I found that to be very frustrating at times, especially for my older DS who is very gifted in math, but not so great at communicating how he does things. I'm not sure if it was just certain grade levels in math that were graded that way though.

Beth - Thanks! We are so excited about this trip! (Except DS, who has no clue. )

Kristine - Oh no! I hope the weather moves through quickly so they can get the flights going. DH said our airport is closed right now due to this huge front coming through. The temps are dropping 30 degrees in an hour as it moves through, so it is causing storms and a tornado watch. Momboss doesn't have to work tomorrow so if we all have to stay home due to ice it won't hurt anything. Any frozen stuff should be gone by Sat. AM when we are leaving.

Glynis - Good luck convincing Alan to do a family WDW trip!

Well, DH found out today that the bid calendar comes out on Monday, bids are on December 11. That means we will have to reserve our August package through the "book ahead" deal without knowing whether or not we can actually go! But people are saying the dates can be changed, so maybe if he can't get the one week I really want he might get one of the others. There are only 2 full weeks that we could go before school starts. The other week would have to be a split ressie because the first few days would be before the promo starts.

I will hope that one of those weeks is left over for bids. If not, maybe DH can convince somebody to trade out a week. If not, we'll have to book for a time without free dining and hopefully get an AP rate on the room. (But maybe I will take DS for a quick trip with free dining even if DH can't go.)
