This is what we are doing:

Wildlife Discovery Excursions
Beginning February 15, 2005 Walt Disney World concierge-level resort Guests are invited to explore the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction at Animal Kingdom in the new Wildlife Discovery Excursion.

The excursion is led by a safari guide and takes guests off the regular Kilimanjaro Safaris path in a specially designed vehicle, stopping at observation and photo areas along the way.

Cost - $45 per guest
Schedule - Offered twice daily at 10AM & 1PM
Advanced reservations are required.
Guests must be at least 12 years old to participate.

Guests can make reservations for a Wildlife Discovery Excursion through their resort's concierge host or hostess, or through the Itinerary Planning Office at their resort.

This for AKL concierge:

Sunrise Safari is available to concierge guest on Sundays and Thursdays and is limited to 40 persons. This early morning adventure that departs the Animal Kingdom Lodge at 7am. Offers a guided tour of the Kilimanjaro Safari and takes around 30 minutes. The tour is followed by a buffet breakfast at Tusker House. Reservations can be made 90 days out and the cost is $49.95.

I haven't heard of the Wildlife Discovery Excursion before! That sounds fun. Of course our DS is not old enough for that one yet.

The second one is precisely what I want, but I don't want to pay double for our room to do it. I will definitely ask about it when we check in.

The age is actually a typo on their part....none of my kids are old enough. Hopefully you can get in on the sunrise one...it sounds like fun. Although too early for my kids

Safe travels to all getting ready to leave!

I pray that the time will go slow for you while you're there (but fast for those of us back home!). Because after you get back, then I get to go. :teeth:

There's no sleeping in when I am around! :rotfl: I am up by about 5 AM every morning. Kind of like I have been at home this week! And of course since DH gets up every day at 2 AM for work he has trouble sleeping late. On the weekends DS is usually up by 6:30 so he can get started on whatever it is he has planned for the day (Godzilla movie, building a creation out of paper towel rolls, etc.). Besides, the Feb. trip will be so short I want to make the most of every minute! The 7 AM start time is what makes me want to do it!

There are a lot of age and price discrepancies on all 3 of those safari activities depending on which site you are reading. DS didn't love dinner at Jiko so I don't think we need to do that one, especially with a set menu and $150 price tag per person. And somewhere it said minimum age 16 for that one.

Kristine - I just realized we are also at AK on Tuesday. We're doing the AP preview of Nemo at 10 AM (while you guys are on your Excursion) but maybe we will have a chance to say hello after that!

I agree with you...there is a lot of discrepancies with information

That sounds good to me! That is all we have planned for AK at the moment...we are doing MVMCP that night so I wanted a light schedule...

Great! We're at MVMCP the night before. I'll PM you my cell # and you can give me a call. I imagine we will probably finish Nemo about the same time as you all finish up the tour so maybe we can meet after that. We like everything at AK except Kali. I don't do water rides, especially with them calling for a high between 66-70 that day.

Well I have had exactly 3 phone calls today. I called my morning volunteer and told her not to come in and just now called my afternoon one and told her since there was actually now somebody else in the building I could pee when I needed to so not to come in either...the roads are a bit dicey...but I only live 8 blocks away from work so no snow day for me. :guilty:

Well, because it's been written up in the National Mathmatics Teachers magazine I think the school doesn't want any fuss. He is trying to get all the math teachers to do this grading...which focuses less on getting the correct answer and more on the words you use to describe how you got to the answer. I think he is looking for specific words and since Cassidy is getting the right number answers but not words is where she and he are clashing.

I think he's still a woodpecker!!

I agree with you! Math is one of the things in life that should be more or less black and white. Don't go making things fuzzy and funky. If you know what you are doing and consistently come up with the correct answers, you are right...even if you do it differently than the teacher. Tell Cassidy to hang in there!

It's hard when teachers grade differently. Laura had a couple of woodpeckers in 6th grade. Her one friend who had a different team of teachers used to always comment on how low Laura's grades were in comparison to her own. Now Laura is in accelerated math and science and this girl is in neither. It's just the way the teachers graded in 6th that made it look like her grades were lower.

Thanks and thanks!! (Those are actually last year's photos, but I wanted to make something Christmasy.) We have not been out to get our tree yet. I have my fingers crossed for this weekend, though it's going to get COLD.

I bought my kids matching PJs this year too. I bought the fleece footy ones. They are blue with outspace theme. I got them at Target. Did I mention that I bought a matching pair for myself? I bought the youth XL and they fit!! I'm going to give them to the boys on Christmas eve and we will all match on Christmas Morning. Unfortunately Chris doesn't fit into them, but he prefers short anyway.

Deb

Pictures, girl!!! I'm putting in my request right now for the Christmas morning picture!!!

Thanks Beth!

Elizabeth good luck with the safari, I really hope you can book it :wizard:

Hi Lindsey

Jennifer have a wonderful & safe trip!

It is raining here, which marks the end of our nice weather. Tomorrow it will be in the 30's.

Temp's in the 30's sounds wonderful right now! Our high today is 24. Talk about Brrrrr!!!!! The girls and I tried to go to the store this morning, but our car doors were frozen shut. We had to wait an extra 45 minutes for them to thaw enough for us to get in the car. It is definitely a day to stay indoors with a nice cup of tea!!!

I did that awhile back too, Deb, and was lost as well. Maybe some of the VMKers would put together a tutorial for us. Please? :teeth:

I have such a one track mind I'm scared to even try VMK. I'd hate to leave my family in the lurch! I spend so much time with you all, I'd hate to stretch myself too thin with something else.

Besides, I don't think my almost 40 year old brain could handle it. I would need "idiot" instructions for the game!!! :teeth: There's a project for someone!
