Hi everyone!

Things are finally calming down here, so I thought I'd post what I hope is our final update before we go home!

They took Caroline off the antibiotics yesterday and removed her IV early this morning. She's had really good feedings over the past 2 days. She's still spitting up, but it's much, much better. They thickened her formula even more and she's now on the maximum dosage of Reglan that they can give her. The Zantac is definitely working because she's not crying after feedings now.

We had the first part of our Infant CPR training this morning and we'll finish up this evening. A nurse from Home Health came with our monitor and trained us on it. Caroline is now on this monitor rather than the NICU monitor, so tonight will be a test run for us before we leave the hospital. She'll wear it 24/7 for the next 3-4 weeks.

We've also been to the pharmacy for our medicine "training".

She weighed 6.11 lbs last night so she's now exceeded her birth weight. The dr said he wants us to feed her on demand now rather than waking her up every 3 hours for feedings. We'll probably average every 4 hours now, so we'll get a bit more sleep.

Other than updating her medical condition, I've never really posted much about Caroline herself. She's a very sweet baby :cloud9: . As the jaundice wears off she's starting to become more alert. For a while there we wondered if we'd ever see her with her eyes open for more than 3 seconds.

She was pretty jaundiced in the picture I posted, so I'll try to take some new pictures once we get home. Within the next few weeks I hope to get my hair cut and colored and I may even post a picture of myself  . I hear some of you are doubting my existence... ;)

HOW WONDERFUL!!!!!! Sounds like things are working out and you will get to be home and enjoying Caroline.
I am so happy for you all.
Thank you for the update. Have a great weekend.

I came in to get away from the chaos outside, we have holes all in the yard,
right now they are gone to get the parts to hopefully fix the problem, if that is not the problem then it is the water companies problem and they will have to take care of it.

Great news about Caroline, Elin I'm sorry to hear about your water problems, I feel your pain.

I'll check back later,
Debbie

PD that this gets fixed and quick.

The post-Disney funk isn't as bad as I thought it would be. And better than previous times. I think because we are so busy getting things ready for school. The first day is Wednesday. I am not ready emotionally for that. I am getting into a pre-winter funk, too, even though fall is usually a time of the year that I like a lot.

My house is an absolute wreck right now, too. I have a ton of things to do. I am just waiting until the kids get off to school and I have my nursery school room/schedule ready for that start.

Oh, and I now have grand jury duty to look forward to. I will start on 9/18. I'll have met the nursery school kids twice (once for orientation and the next day for the first class) before this starts. I'm hoping that I only have to go on the 18th, since I don't teach on Mondays. I don't know what I'll do if I actually get on a jury. Not only will the nursery school kids get off to a rough start, I'll be in court from 9am -5 pm every day, and that will mess with my own kids' schedules, etc.

So anyway, I'm doing pretty well, and keeping busy enough that I haven't had time for the funk. I am worried about forgetting everything by the time I get a chance to sit down and write a trip report.

Also, knowing June's and Caroline's problems certainly puts mine into perspective. I have done a lot of time praying for them, which in turn helps me.

I just wish I knew when we could go again, even if it's two years away.

So... you're sitting around eatiing bon bons?????? I see.

Just kidding, busy is a good thing when dealing with PDD. I hope the PDD leaves soon and that your week next week goes well.

Well, it's slow here tonight, and I have a movie to watch. So, I'm calling it a night. I'm going to curl up on the couch and watch "Under the Tuscan Sun." Hope it's good. I can only watch "chick flicks" when Alan is out of town. I'll check in with y'all tomorrow. 2 of my kids are fighting bad colds, so I don't know if I'm going to take them to Church tomorrow or not. I just hate to have them around other kids, getting their germs all over the place So if I decide to keep them home, I'll be here. See ya!

PD and prayers that they kick the colds fast

Elin - thank you for keeping up with June for us!!

Jennifer - would you like one of my phenergans? Run on over and you can have one - but only one b/c I really need them!!

I would rank my pain around a 7 today - when I get near the end of a pain pill - I KNOW!! I have no appetite - hey - maybe I will lose a few pounds - yes -I am at this point looking for the positives as I see no way that my knee will EVER feel better!!

I do have this really cool ice pack though - it looks like a cooler and there is cold water and ice in it - it has tubes that go to a bandage on my knee and about once a minute pumps ice cold water into a tube system over my knee - it is so awesome!!

Lots of swelling - minimal bruising - lots of pain!!! and I am bored - but making lots of headway on Nicks scrapbook!!

Hang in there Kate. Relief is a coming..... :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

update on grandmother: shes still hang on. able to eat ice chips. this morning she pulled out her central line. shes going hoem tuesday with pt and nurse visits. care givers will take care of her at the house. hospise is being set up. doctors are worried she might asperate at home and get pneumonia. my uncles like that could happen or she could get pneumonia without asperating. doctors said she would probably die of dehidration before starving(if swallowing doesnt get better). the amout of ice chips she is eating wont sustain her and 3 cans of babay a day wont sustan her either. so the next few weeks will let us know.

Oh Karen. I'm so sorry you don't have better news... :grouphug: Karen :grouphug:

You can never have too many Mom's, what number would you like to be?? :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: Honestly I don't look at it like that though. I hope I'm not called a brat again, If I am, it wasn't me. :teeth:

Uhh, I know that and it is part of the reason why I am doing it. I don't mind at all it helps keep me on track. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Let's just say I procrastinate and I need someone to keep on me about this stuff.

16 weeks is too long for me to focus on one class. I much prefer taking summer classes. I tend to do better taking 3-3 credit hour classes that last 6 weeks than 4-4 credit hour classes that last 16 weeks. If I know I don't have the time I force myself to get it done, if I have too much time I just push it aside and don't do it.

BTW: Assignment is complete, but not submitted as I want to proofread it when I am more awake. I will submit it later today.
