I have to share this with all of you. I'm such a proud mom today!

Christopher had his final regular swim meet of the season this morning. He has been hoping to be picked for the relay team for weeks. He's a good swimmer for his age, but about a month ago he started coming up for breaths about every other stroke and it was slowing him down a bit. We've been working on it and I just told him to do his best at practice and maybe he would be picked.

When we got there this morning he was only signed up for the individual freestlye and not the relay. I was disappointed for him, but I didn't say anything. In a few minutes one of the Jr. Coaches had him by the hand and said mom he's going to do the relay.

When it was his turn to swim he flew to the other side of the pool! We were all standing there with our jaws on the floor. I've never seen him swim that fast and he didn't do the breaths every other stroke. His relay team took second place behind the other relay team from our club :cheer2:

When it was time for his individual freestyle he again flew down the pool and won a blue ribbon!!!!!!! He was swimming against good swimmers so I was really proud of him. It was a close race!

After the meet he went to his coach and thanked her for letting him be on the relay team. She told him she didn't "let" him, that he had improved so much that he earned a spot on the team! He was so proud and I was so proud for him!! She doesn't know how much she boosted his self esteem and confidence by saying that!

On a side note, and pretty funny: Christopher has blue (1st), red (2nd) and yellow (4th) ribbons. There are 3 other color ribbons that he doesn't have, and he wants one of every color. The lady handing out the ribbons for the relay thought his team took 3rd so she handed him a white ribbon. When she realized her mistake and gave him a red ribbon, he didn't want to trade :rotfl: . Isn't it great that at that age it's still not all about winning?
way to go christopher

One more post and then I had better get my behind to work around this place. I had my regular check up with my lung doctor today and after nearly three years of being on the strongest Advair he thinks I'm doing well enough to attempt lowering my dosage, keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm going to try and not think about it be a lower dosage as I'm afraid my mind will play tricks on me if I do. It's been a rough road getting here at times but believe it or not I actually started doing better after Katrina, I had most of my really bad spells at work and I have not been there since the storm so I think there is definitely a connection there.

I picked up some sausage and new potatoes at the store on my way home and now I have them in the crock pot with green beans, I hope it comes out o.k. and my finicky husband likes it. I grew up with brothers who would eat anything that didn't bite them back ( and possibly some that would) so I get frustrated with my DH when he won't eat things.

Have a great day everyone,

Debbie

Debbie -- sounds like you have made good progress. Fingers crossed and prayers sent your way.

just coming to say hi while i have a minute. I am trying to get some homework done (we need 10 sources for a 5 page paper--ugh!)
So my goal for today is to find all 10 sources that i want to use..Luckily, i have the house to myself and should be able to start and get it done pretty quickly.

Other than that, i have no big plans for the rest of the week, but i am going to a big DISmeet in Allentown PA this weekend, so that should be fun! Im going with another DISer (kimwim8) and were planning on spending the night and going to dorney park sunday--should be a fun weekend!

Dont have much of a Alex update tonight, but this is what i have so far..My dad was at the hospital today and alex talked to him!! Actual words! He said "one day at a time"...He seems to be doing good and the trach will hopefully be removed this week sometime--we just got an email that we can start buying the shirts, so i cant wait to see how they look!

hopefully ill be back later to chat, but gotta get this homework done first, so yell at me if you see me!
Jen, Did you get your homework done? Glad to hear that Alex is improving.

Cool smilies!!!!

Thanks everyone! I'm going to read all of the congratulations to him before he goes to bed tonight!

Happy Hump Day, DDA! :goodvibes

I hope everyone is having a good day - I've been reading along where I can, but work is stressing me out! I will be very glad when this weeend is over, as it means I will have survived one of my final "big" events of our summer intern program - we put on a "Battle of the Bands" for 300 of our closest friends. :faint: I still have 5 1/2 weeks to go, but there is at least a glimmer of a light at the end of the tunnel!

Sorry if I forget anyone - I'm going off of memory here!

:bday: Happy 3rd Birthday, Olivia! :cheer2:

Dawn - glad to hear that you and Caroline are doing so well, and what a great story about Christopher! I loved swim team!

Kate - was so thankful to read the good news about Nick. I hope you get to enjoy your trip to DC with an easy mind. And your response to the tv reporter - priceless! :thumbsup2 Let me know if you start that business up - I'm looking for a new career!

Elin - glad that you and your family had such a fantastic vacation! 9 books - WOW!! I think that even beats some of my records - and I love to read!

Tia - WTG on the moving plans - it sounds like a great situation for all. As for December travels, I'm currently scheduled to be at SSR from 12/15-12/19, although I'm toying with moving my trip up by a week.

Deb - I hope you guys enjoy your camping trip! Jodi Piccoult is one of my very favorite authors!! Definitely read My Sister's Keeper, as well as The Pact - I finished The Pact in just 2 days - while also touring WDW somewhat commando-style. That was how good it was! :cheer2:

Denise - so good to see you. I loved the pics of the beach and b-day party - that beach house was awesome! Also couldn't believe how cute ALL of the kids were attending that b-day party - looks like there's something in the water down there! And congrats to Rees on losing his first tooth! And further congrats on booking the cruise - Jonathan and I will be cruising the Wonder starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving that year, too! :Pinkbounc

Paula - so sorry to hear about your SIL, as well as your fall-out on the notary deal. I definitely agree that you should look at doing a side business in embroidery. I know I couldn't find a good person to do something personally a year or two ago, and we just paid someone $7+ per piece to embroider a simple logo on 50 aprons for a firm event!

Glynis - :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :Pinkbounc on making your January travel arrangements!!! You will have such an excellent time - and I'm sure all it will take is Alan setting foot on WDW property to realize that it can't all be done in 1,2,3,4 - nothing less than a week, in my opinion! Remember, I owe you for helping me with DL - I would love to return the favor! :goodvibes

Jo - all your recent designs have been awesome! It's fun seeing designs around here again! :teeth:

Amy & Kevin - WHERE THE HECK ARE THE PICS?!?!? :rotfl: Matthew looks like a cutie!

Vicki - hope you have a great time at Girl Scout Camp. Whatever are we going to do without PM and wedding updates? ;)

Anne Marie - I hope you start feeling better soon! Loved the family pic you posted a few days ago!

Janet - congrats on the AirTran savings!

Tammi - the pics of Alyssa were just adorable! For whatever reason, it struck me that she looks very much like I would imagine Cameron Diaz looked as a girl - those eyes!

Robyn - :wizard: on your decision to move to MI.

Marci - I was so sorry to hear about your cat. I hope she bounces back with no problems! If it makes you feel any better, my BIL/SIL's cat was in a car accident as a young cat, and had to have one of her back legs amputated. She gets around amazingly well on 3 legs - it's really remarkable how they adapt. She's faster on 3 legs than I am on 2!

That's all I can remember for now! Miss you guys and getting to hang out more regularly - I second all the comments yesterday (or was it today?) about how incredible the bonds are that we have just from this board.

And I think a DDA cruise would be awesome!!! Could you imagine the t-shirts?!?!?!? :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: They woudn't know what hit 'em!

(You should have seen the other smilies I found on that site..talk about smilie turtle time :scared1: ! I had to preview my post to make sure I copied the right ones!)

Whoo Hoo!! Amy had her baby on Friday and my local friend (Tarmand on the Dis) had her baby today!!! Out of my little circle of pregnant friends, I'm next!!!!!!

I'm catching up all out of order so if my posts seem out order, you'll know why!

I'm just back from my ultrasound and dr's appt. The baby weighs 4.2 pounds! She also told me the baby has lots of hair. I was surprised that she could see that on the ultrasound and surprised that she has hair since I was bald until I was 18 months old and Christopher was bald until he was 14 months old.

My appt. went well. My dr. did say the baby will be short like me :(.
Glad the appointment went well. I don't know how accurate the ultrasounds are, they said Molly was going to be well over 10lbs if I went to my due date. I delivered 2 days earlier and she was only 7lbs 11oz! I don't think she could have gained that much in 2 days.

Well, I have some terrific news!!!! Alan booked our flights to Florida for the half marathon! As soon as he gets home I'll have the dates and I can get a ticker up!

He's also working on renting a house for us while we are there. His sister and brother in law are coming with us as well as another brother!

I'm so excited about this trip. It will be very quick for us, only 2 days in the parks, so we are choosing the 2 we really want to see: Magic Kingdom and Epcot! Be sure that I will be coming to all of you for advice and tips on the whole thing.

I'm so happy!!!!! Now to really pump up my workout so I don't disgrace myself at the half!
:cool1: :cool1: That's great news Glynis! :cool1: :cool1:
