Stress is:

The confusion created when one's mind overrides the body's basic desire to choke the living crap out of some jerk who desperately needs it.

So if we were going to list our "obsessions" - I am only using that term b/c that might be how someone else sees them ;)

Disney Planning
T-shirts
The DIS
High School Musical
Cars
Pal Mickey and Friends
Crocs
Fanny packs

am I missing anything else?!!?!?

I really think Dr. Phil should do a show about us!!!

I think he should start with a notice to us like I said before - in 12 hours a car will pick you up to bring you to Disneyland - videotape us all for the next 12 hours - which will include a frenzy on our computers - frantic packing and trying to print any research we can - maybe a trip to Wal-Mart for last minute items and a DL guide

Then videotape us at DL followed up with a session in our studio -

I think the whole thing would be HILARIOUS - the frenzy of us getting ready - being at DL without any preparation and then all of us together in his studio -

and I think what he would see is that we are an amazing group of women who have become great friends that would have a great time together!!!!!!

and then the whole world would want to join the DDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

If we're talking DL, things would be ok. Planning isn't such a necessity there as it must be at WDW. Besides, if you had Paula, Tia, Christi and me along, you'd be fine. We'd make sure of it!

Vicki, Thanks for the shirt and name card for Rees' PM. The kids got home late last night. I just showed it to him, and he was so excited. Their birthday party is at 2pm today and John's family is all coming in today, so I'll be back tomorrow or Monday to post and show pics from the beach and party. Hugs and hi to all the DDA!

I'm sorry that you are having some tough times with Katrina. Is there anything I can do to help?

Thanks for the offer. I just have to spend some time with her to make sure she knows she has our support in whatever path she takes. She is struggling with what to do with her life. So many people her age have a direction and she just doesn't yet. I was the same way so totally understand but she is stressing over it. Plus, she doesn't have the best set of friends. People tend to take advantage of her - I had the same thing at her age! Of course, knowing that she is like mom doesn't help!

What's wrong with being like you?

Especially with it being DL. I have never been there and I wouldn't know where to start. Help....I can't catch my breath.....my heart is palpating.....sweaty palms......

This isn't even for real and I am in a panic!!!!!

I'm there for you Tammi!!! I'll send along all my Disneyland info. that I gave to Lindsay, and to Kate for their DL trips. Truthfully, if you can handle WDW, DL should be no problem!!!

No one wants to be like their mom when they are 20 years old! No matter how cool their mom is!!!! :lmao:

Christi, You have probably left but I hope you have a nice time.

Heidi, that is good news about your mom.

Tammi, if DH is o.k. with it then why not? Ummm no ulterior motive here for a place to stay! No, seriously, If it is something you are considering I would (as mentioned by Paula I think?) put down your pro/cons on paper & give it a good long look. Something like this may be a great new start to your new life.

Theresa, I would suggest a dr visit if you still have your headache.

June, love the cc idea! Cool!

Kristine, Wow 50 credits...you should be so proud! Great job!

Vicki, you pictures are a hoot!

Hi to everyone else, I should have taken notes reading all the posts so I am sorry if I missed anyone. Hope you all have a great weekend.

BTW, anyone else's *************** ticker not working? My doesn't change days...It should read 1 month 15 days....I think I am going to change it back to my old ticker.

Speaking of obsessions.......

with all of the drama that is going on in my life, a great idea popped into my head today, while I was thinking about what will be coming down the road. Plans were for me to retire in Spring of 08. Now I don't know if I will be able to afford to do this, and not have something to supplement my retirement.

Well, what if I sold our house and moved to FL and worked for the Mouse?!?!?! What better job could there be to add income? The market in FL can't be as expensive as it is here, right? Sounds crazy, right?

Now I know all of you are saying 'do it' 'do it', and I hope it is not just so you will have a free place to stay when you go to disney. :teeth:

Personally, I think you need to do whatever will make you HAPPY!

My dream is to retire to DL and work there with Alan when we are done raising kids, etc. I think it would be great to work in "the happiest place on earth"

Oh, and the place to stay at WDW definitely sounds good to me, too!

I know the wheeled sneakers are popular but I think she would probably be safer with roller blades because she would actually need to plan on skating and not just skate at any time.

I agree with roller blades, get her all the safety equipment too. With the roller blades she won't be random places and than just skating whenever. Whatever you get make sure she practices using them in a none crowded area and help her learn. Don't just throw her out there and expect her to know what to do. Maybe even get her some beginner lessons, it can't hurt and it might help keep you sane.

I learned to skate in the Fisher price Adjustable size skates, I also used to roller skate in a friends basement when I was younger, I could skate with few problems. I ended up breaking my wrist in the 5th grade at another friends birthday party at a skating rink. I was skating along, a guy about 6 feet or taller was on speed skates and skating backwards he ran into my shoulder which spun me around and threw me to the ground. His momentum is what caused me to fall and break my arm in 3 places.

I went bowling in my cast and less than a week after I got my cast off I went skiing for the first time. My doctor told me I could and so I did. Nothing like trying to test fate. :rotfl2:

I knew what I was doing and still got hurt, some people at the party were only learning how to skate and were falling all over. It was a Friday night and crowded definitely not the way to learn to skate.

This isn't meant to chase you away from getting Katie some skates it is just letting you know that things happen but you can reduce her chance of injury with safety equipment and teaching her how to skate. I know you would like to hold her back but don't, if you give her the proper equipment and help her learn the proper skills her chance of injury will be less likely and it might help to boost her confidence by learning a new skill.

Good advice, Becky, thanks!!!!

I know about all the work. There are days when I'm doing tomatoes from morning until evening, that I curse the day my mother taught me how to can. I feel the same way about sewing. My sister can sew anything, and make it look like it came from a depatment store, but I just can't do that. My stuff all looks homemade. My kids are getting to the age where that's just not cool anymore!

Glynis,

I kept meaning to reply to this but didn't get the chance until today. It was my MIL who taught me to can and since I usually only did tomatoes, it was not really bad. I did do pickles two years in a row and they were great.
I tried making applesauce but gave it up since she always did it the best. I can remember one year she had ran out of it and tried to pass off store bought and tried to doctor it up. The kids just looked at her and said "Oma, this is not your applesauce" :rotfl:

As for sewing, I could never grasp the zipper thing in pants so I only made things for my DD. She loved it cause I would then make something for her Barbie. She even learned how to sew and made her Prom dress like I had.

The best thing was when a lot of us in our neighborhood started up a food co-op. We would buy for the month and if it ran out, tough cookies.
The kids were not too happy with some of my choices but we sure saved a lot of money while doing that. We bought everything that way except toiletries, cleaning supplies, and laundry soap. Just could not talk Proctor and Gamble to work with us :rotfl:
I like the Sams and Costcos but buying that way was sure fun.

Matthew is here!!!!!! :jumping3:

He was born at 10:17pm (EST) and weighs exactly 7lb. They're not sure of his length yet, they're going to measure him when they bathe him.

She was still 3-4 cm when she got to the hospital, and didn't get a room until 5:30. Once they broke her water she only had an hour and 10 minute labor, and around 3 pushes. He wasn't reacting well so the Dr. used the vacuum to get him out. The cord was wrapped around his neck but he is fine.

Amy sounds absolutely wonderful for having a baby less than an hour ago!

She asked me to post since it was so late on the east coast.

Hopefully we'll see some pictures soon!

And he got his 7/7 birthday!

Hooray for Amy and Matthew!!!!! I'm glad that all eventually was ok. I can't wait to see pictures!

I think that those of you that have been to WDW numerous times would be ok. However, I think us newbies would have a tough time. I'd definitely do it, though! No question about that.
I'd do it for Disneyland even though I have never been. I would just make the best of it.

I guess we should have Amy have a baby more often!!!!! Think she'll agree? :rotfl2:

Ummmmm. NO!!!!!

Hi Gang.

I found a computer terminal in the waiting room here in the mommy-baby unit. Haven't had a chance to really read everything but this one kind of stood out. The Doctor kept making references to the next one last night as well. Not going to happen.

Anyway, everybody is doing great. It looks like we will all be leaving the hospital by midnight tonight. Amy, Alyssa, Matthew and I thank you for all the good wishes.

I'm sure Amy will update later. And of course there are lots of pictures we will send along. Talk again soon.
