Interesting. This poll started out about 60% in favor of the debate board, regardless of the motivation and is more or less staying that way.

I rarely participated on the DB but often read threads there. Several debates were interesting and thought provoking. What I enjoyed about posting on the DB was that I worried less about offending certain members, especially children, by discussing topics there.

Over the years I've seen many threads here get heated and bounced or continued on the DB. It had it's place and served to keep this board less hostile on occassions. I fear that debates will become more common here and threads will be locked or removed when things get out of hand.

It doesn't bother me too much. I liked reading some of the opinions there sometimes, but I never posted my own.

I miss how it was a while back. I don't miss what it had transitioned into.

"All libs this" "all conservatives that" arguments seemed more prevalent than good debate. I could only imagine how the DB would be by October.

Talk of genocide and hatred of all Muslims disgusted me.(yeah yeah yeah, freedom of speech).

The name calling/word filter workarounds was increasing every day.

I miss what the debate board was once upon a time. I don't miss the last few months.

Blame it on lack of moderation? I will not. That is like blaming the police officer because he did not catch the crook. The offending posters carry the blame.

There was no option in the poll to fit my feelings.

I voted I miss it... but I'd just started hanging on the CB and now it's like the debate board just followed me on over. Kinda weird actually..... LOL

It was a good place to sic the controversial threads. Without it, I think the mods will have to do more policing, and I'm surprised that they wanted that.
