The DB Board, How do you REALLY feel?

How do you really feel about the DB?

  • I miss it, I liked it, I participated in the DB.

  • I am glad it is gone. Posters were rude and arrogant.

  • I liked it because it "kept them over there".

  • I couldn't care less.

I have been reading the posts regarding the DB board and it would be interesting to quantify the feelings here regarding its demise, not that it would matter but it would be interesting.

I posted there only occasionally but I read often and I miss it now. Most of the posters there were interesting and not mean at all. I can see from the poll results so far that most CBers apparently don't know that.

While I would post on the DB, I liked the fact that it was a separate board, because then if I wasn't in the mood to deal with all the "personalities" on the DB, I didn't have to.

Now the CB is becoming the DB, and I don't like that. I liked the CB being more fluff and pixie dust!

I will miss it. I didn't post there much in recent months, but I did often go there and read. Threads disappear to pages 2 and 3 too quickly on the CB to keep a good Debate going.

I don't see that at all. There's still a very high ratio of fluff to DB type theads.

It would be great to see the rules applied to all threads involving the following: cats, prayers/pixie dust (with all due respect), physical ailments, and E-Bay.

In the words of Milhouse from "The Simpsons" when Bart, as hall monitor, dragged him away after violating a school rule: "Sure we have order, but at what price!"

I used to like the DB, but unfortunately a few bad apples who wanted to personally attack each other ruined it for everyone who genuinely wanted to to debate. Now it's gone. :(

I see that too and that's why I subscribe to them so I can get quick access.

You're right. Maybe I should post my "kids sitting in coach while DH and I luxuriate in first class poll" over here. I wonder if it would come out differently?

I really don't care either way. There was a time where I liked the DB, but these days I'm too lazy to post on debates or any thread that I have to continually check or keep up with. I don't really care if they are here or there. What I do find annoying is all the back and forth with "us" vs. "them" and the insinuation that all DB'ers are heartless jerks and all CB'ers are incapable of deep thought. Hopefully that will die down within a few days.

Do it Dawn - would be interesting to see if the results are different ;)

I rarely posted on the DB. I'm not much of a debater.;) I don't like to argue. I thought having the DB was a good idea for those that liked to debate to go to when they wanted to though. Like Disney Doll, I enjoy the fluff of the CB.:teeth: I can understand why those that are upset the board is gone. To some, the DB was a way for them to relax. Some of the posts over there made me roll my eyes, but then there have been some here (including some of my own;)) that have made me roll my eyes at too. I thought it was totally disrespectful of those that "danced on the grave of the DB". But then some, one in particular, I'm pretty well used to rolling my eyes at because he tends to dance to too many circumstances that hurt others.

I miss it very much. Yes, some threads (usually due to particular posters) turned nasty, but many of them were very interesting, and often very funny. For me personally, it was interesting to get views of Americans and Canadians on topics.
I have been dipping into the CB for some time, but find that threads disappear too quickly. Now with people putting debates on the CB, that situation is only going to get worse.

Didnt vote because none of the choices really reflected my feelings
I miss it, I liked it, I participated in the DB. ...nope I would go over and read but I wasnt a regular

I am glad it is gone. Posters were rude and arrogant...... Nope didnt feel that way everyone is entiltled to opinions and when they had a place to debate I never had a problem with the posters

I liked it because it "kept them over there". ...nope To much of an us against them attitude

I couldn't care less. Well that's not true either.

I miss it. I didn't post on everything but jumped in on issues I felt strongly about. I didn't care if people disagreed with me. That's why debates exist- differing opinions. I did feel some posters took it WAY too seriously. I think soem of the things that got people so riled-up were posted in just to keep a thread going. Those posters were pot-stirrers--knowing just what to say to get people going. If you stayed long enough you knew who to believe.

I read the DB everyday, although I never posted. I must admit that aside from enjoying all the banter (except for the whole genocide suggestion, which the majority of the DBers really called the guy on--but geez--genocide--made me sick!), it really made me think about certain issues. I came away seeing and appreciating others' points of view, and although most times my opinions weren't swayed (I'm a Kerry-loving Demo!), they sure made me think--and giggle a lot, too. Some of those DBers are very witty and clever.

I'm sorry that a handful took things too far, ruined it for the majority, and that the DB is gone. I respect Pete and The Mods, and the jobs they do. I'm sure it was a difficult decision, one not taken lightly, and done for what they believe is best for the boards--obviously not what everyone thinks:) but such goes many things in life. I spent a lot of time lurking at the DB, and when I was finished with the heavy stuff, I always came back here for some fun & fluff.

Try to run and hide DBers, but I love ya' and am giving you all a great big kiss!puckerup:

I would have to pick the first category but I didn't really post much on the DB.

I do miss it and I did read it on a regular basis though.

Actually, I'm one of the unique DB'ers here that don't mind the move. I tended to only visit the DB with occasional visits around the other boards as time allowed. Now I can easily participate in a couple different types of conversations without having to jump from one board to another.

So, yes, I'm actually FOR combining the DB and the CB.
