Did anyone see the Daytime Emmy Awards last night? They did a wonderful tribute to Dick Clark for all his years on American Bandstand. He was there and became quite emotional when he receive a standing ovation. It was pretty moving.

I will say, however, that I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the so-called tribute they gave to As The World Turns. It was literally about a minute and a half blip. Then they didn't even have the cast up on stage. It was introduced by the couple who play Holden and Emily. They showed the video and that was it. I remember last year they did a much nicer job with Guiding Light. I think after 57 years on the air they deserved a little more than what they got! What are your thoughts?

Missed the awards last nite, but wanted to say it is sad about ATWT. If you think they did a nicer job with GL last year than this must have been horrendous:eek: GL's cast and crew got the Royal Shaft and I knew it wouldn't be long before ATWT was on its way out as well. Sadly, I see a pretty sad ending for ALL soap operas in the near future.

I'm wondering if I'm thinking about the Soap Opera Digest Awards instead of the Emmys. I remember that they did a very nice tribute and had the whole cast up on stage. I remember Kim Zimmer was crying so hard.
But yes, it was pretty bad as far as "tributes" go. I feel the same way about soaps too. They will all soon come to an end, I'm sure.

I watched lastnight. I don't really have an opinon about the tribute as that isn't the soaps I watch. I did enjoy seeing the lady that was crying and called her daughter up on stage. She seemed genuine which I can appreciate.

I thought I was going to be a crying mess watching Dick Clark. I haven't seen him on tv since his stroke a couple years ago and seeing how he can't really get up and has some speech issue just hit home. LOVED the American Band Stand tribute with the video and the singers.

I'm pretty sure soaps will be gone soon. I guess not as many people are watching but not DVR and I imagine it costs alot more to make than the reality tv that is taking over the world.

I watched today. That was a really nice tribute to Dick Clark - got me crying at the end when he was crying. I've been a longtime watcher of ATWT - my mother also and her mom before that. It was a lousy tribute. Kudos to Michael Park (Jack) and Maura West (Carly) for their lovely acceptance speeches. Cried yet again when Maura brought her crying daughter up on stage.

I don't watch any soap operas (though I did, growing up), but tuned in last night because I was bored. I was glad to see Cash Cab and Ben Bailey win awards.

Dick Clark sobbing, though, about killed me. It was amazing how he held it together through all the videos, etc, and then poor guy just lost it with the standing ovation. I could cry again just thinking about it.

I'm a longtime viewer of CBS soaps, and am crushed that ATWT is going out like GL. I totally forgot to watch last night - does anyone know if they will re-run this on SoapNet or any other channel?

I was wondering that as well. Did any Days of our lives win anything

No, it was the Emmys. The thing that most of us GL fans were so upset about was that they DID have them up on stage, but the cast and crew barely got up there and (I believe Kim Zimmer was supposed to make a speech) but they barely got their ovation and it literally cut to commercial before they got the full goodbye.

It's really sad to see the way the soaps have gone now and after so many years on tv to see how they are disrespected by the academy.

I missed it.. Someone mentioned to me that Janet (from ATWT) received an award.. Is that correct? If so, I'm very happy for her.. I think she's a great actress on that show..

I'll miss ATWT - been watching it for more years than I can remember..:(

Anyone know the final air date?

I watched it but I couldn't get over how BAD Marie Osmond looked and sounded last night. She really should stop singing. And she has obviously had lip injections done on her top lip. It looked really bad on her. I won't say who it was out of respect, but someone last night looked a little orange.

This is very harsh, you do realize she just lost her son a month or so ago

Sorry if it sounds harsh, it is just my observation be it right or wrong.

I was disappointed that they didn't have a In Memoriam for those we lost this past year. Frances Reid, played Alice Horton on DOOL since the beginning and she will be greatly missed.

I know thought for sure they would have had it.

We didn't really get very many clips from the shows either. They usually show clips of why they were nominated.

I really thought James Scott would have won

He lost to some one from As The World Turns , it went to the woman from there too so Nicole didn't win.

The old Bille won for the Bold and the Beautiful

They were probably scared to after the whole Oscar 'fiasco' last year where they didn't include a singer and a mainly TV actress in the Memoriam.
