Well, today was the day that DD's, DH and I went to Okemo...DD's were so funny last night laughing about "missing school"...LOL
DH and DD6 had "group lessons" well, being midweek BEFORE Presidents Day, there was NOBODY on the mountain! DD and DH actually had PRIVATE LESSONS! 1 hour 45 minutes worth EACH!
I didn't have to pay for the lessons as they each used one of my comp tickets. DH did have to rent skis, but that ran us $35.00
We packed a huge lunch, coffee and hot chocolate. DD got pretty tired during her lesson, and hungry as it was from 11-1245, she usually eats by noon at the latest..
but I am VERY PROUD to say that DD6 HAS LEARNED HOW TO SKI!!!! She would NOT listen to me when I tried to teach her, typical of course, but she picked it right up, and by 3pm when we left, she was going up the Poma lift on her own, and actually making s curves coming down! her wedge looked great, and she was in total control of herself!
DH also mastered it! He had fun, but doenst think skiing is for him, his ankles and knees hurt....from the abnormal position the boots put you in, but I think if he did it more it wouldnt hurt, and also if he purchased boots and had them fitted to his feet, it would be better than rentals.
It was great for DH to see DD7 (the MASTER!) ski...he couldnt believe all that she could do, as today was only her 4th day on the snow...she was so funny, having him follow her down the mountain, turn this way dad....now push with this leg....wedge, wedge WEDGE...SLOW DOWN DAD....YOU MUST BE IN CONTROL!!
We spent after lunch at the Poma, never did the chair lifts, which was fine for DH and DD6..I might a day later in the month and bring DD7 alone, as she is much further along that DD6 and is comfortable on the quad chairs etc...
As we were driving home, DD7 says to DH ......
"Dad, 1 more day on the Poma lift, and I think you'll be ready for the quad....Your doing great" LOL....
I have to say- I am SO GLAD I took them out of school today, they had a great time, and it was such a nice change from our normal hectic schedules...and DD and DH had a great time in the lesson....
