Everyone has told me about the day before the test :scared1::scared1:

But what about the day after? Do you have a stomachache or anything?

Sorry if this is TMI, but I will reschedule if it is going to ruin a summer weekened. If the test is on Wednesday, do you feel normal by Friday?

TIA

I was fine after mine. In fact, immediately after it was over I was starving and went out to eat lunch. I was a little loopy the day of the test, even after lunch but I was fine the next day. Of course, ymmv!

I had no problems with mine. I went and ate a huge breakfast afterward, and then went home and slept some more (I think the anesthesia was still lingering). Woke up and went about my day, and was back at work the next day.

TBH, the prep was nothing, too. People told me how awful it was, but it really wasn't that bad.

Now I will say that I was only 32 when I had it done (younger than most), so my recovery situation is a bit different than, say, my Dad's. But it wasn't bad at all.

That day I ate lightly and slept in the afternoon. The next day I was completely fine. A friend said she was a little sore, but I've never heard of anyone being in pain, nothing a little ibuprofen couldn't help.

Prep was easy, test was easy, afterwards was a breeze (literally!! :rotfl2:).

YOU will feel normal by Friday BUT the day after you do tend to feel crappy(no pun ....or maybe it is ). The first time I had one I did not take the day after off and I felt horrible. Dr had to up the anesthesia so I did not feel well. Three years later I told them to make sure I had enough to knock me out from the beginning but I called in sick the next day anyway just to be sure. What I try to do is schedule the test for a Monday so I only have to take two days off MON and TUE because as I am sure you now you aren't going anywhere the day of your prep.

I took a nap in the afternoon after having mine in the morning, but other than that I was fine.

DH wanted to drive home but I wouldn't let him. He wanted me to take him to get food right away. Then we went shopping. :thumbsup2

So maybe I'll leave the appointment as is. I am a little sensitive to anesthesia, but my test is Wednesday afternoon, so if I sleep a lot on Thursday I should be able to drive by Friday.

I just don't want to ruin a perfectly good summer weekend for a test that is not an emergency.

Thank you for all the responses :thumbsup2

Plan on havng something to eat afterward and then taking a nap.

My first one had to be scheduled in the afternoon. I was still groggy most of the next day.

No pain or cramps. You will just me hungry.

When I had mine I was loopy after and DH took me out for a bagel, of which I have no memory. I was fine by dinner that night. No discomfort at all.

If you have it Wednesday you should be fine on Thursday.

You'll be fine the next day. The only time I had any problem was when they put a tube down my throat and my throat was sore for the rest of that day. They didn't admit that they had to put the tube down my throat, but I know that is what happened, because I've never had the problem of a sore throat before. They used that powerful drug Propofal that killed Michael Jackson - and they pointed that out to me before giving it to me. What?

Dh had one recently. He was totally dopey after. He had a conversation with the doctor, where he asked the doc questions and made jokes. On the way home, he kept complaining that he wanted coffee. We must have passed 10 Dunkin Donuts or McD's and I'd offer to get him coffee. Each time he said no, but would immediately start talking about wanting coffee after we passed the building. He must have asked me what time it was 10,000 times.

He felt a little queasy, and didn't eat much that day. He had a nap, and afterward asked me why the doctor never talked to him.

I have to schedule one for me and I'm dreading it. But if I ask about coffee, he'd better stop.

I was fine-went out for a big lunch - a little bit 'dopey'. Went home and watched some TV. Went back to work the next day and was fine.

Notice how the common thread is hunger!!!

Between DH and myself, we've had 10 colonoscopies. DH is a wuss:goodvibes and even he had no issues the day after. All of our procedures have been in the morning, we drive each other home, nap the rest of the day (residual from the anesthesia) and are fine by evening.

The prep day, otoh, is a pain.

This happened to me, too. Just like a PP they gave me Propofol, and it knocked me out in seconds. Apparently, as I was coming to, I started ranting and raving about how much I hated Tom Brady?!?!? I'm not a Patriots fan, but far from a hater, so I'm not even sure why i would be doing such a thing. The doctors thought it was funny, but I remember none of it.

This is a timely thread. I just had a colonoscopy a couple of hours ago! I feel totally fine. A litte groggy, but not enough to take a nap, so I am relaxing on the couch. Not sure how I will feel later on, but so far so good!
