Congratulations on your upcoming trip :cool1:
What a gorgeous name you have chosen for your son :)

Ok hun you have less than a month to go you must have some sort of plans, ideas, holiday shopping, something to give us?

Ok, I'm starting to get worried. I've been reading on the boards about the bad stomach virus going around Disney right now. There's a thread with 10 pages of people saying they got sick! And seriously sick, too, not just once or twice. To the point of dehydration.

So my question is this. Do I stay home and make sure I don't get sick. Or do I risk it and go, hoping it's cleared up by now? It's been going on for about a month I think. I really shouldn't be getting sick like that, plus who wants to be sick on vacation?? I Lysol and Purell with the best of them, but everyone is saying even that doesn't keep you from getting it. It's airborne. :scared:

What do y'all think? What would you do? :guilty: I hate this!

Hmmm...I'm not sure. We were there Nov.14-18 and none of us got sick. We stayed at Pop.

If it were me, I would probably go. I went pregnant back in May (I was around 20 weeks) and I just made sure to wash my hands a lot and drink a lot of water.

Thats a really hard one to call on. Personally I would go. Things like this always happen, not nessercarily at Disney World but in general and, and if you avoided everything just in case you would never end up doing anything. But then again if I was in you situation I can't say I would 100% feel the same. And I would hate to tell you to go and then for you to get sick. I think you have to do what you fell is right on this one.

I say go. Your best bet is just drink bottled water and keep some anti bacterial wipes and stuff with you. You should be fine!

Hi Heather,

I completely understand your concern, but think you can pretty much get a stomach thing anywhere this time of year. We're home a week from WDW and I ended up with one here, you know? Just be aware of washing your hands and all and see if you can take some extra vitamins...vitamin C and that sort to boost your immune system? Can you take Airbourne while pregnant? I would hate for you to cancel your trip because of this, cause it's everywhere right now. Good luck with your decision!!

OMG that was just so weird. I typed Disboards into Google like I always do and at the top of the search results page it said 'The Dasani Girl is....', I was like "What?"

I think you should go. You're still about a month away, so that's a long time for it to run its course. It's true that you could get sick anywhere. It might seem more prevalent here because there is a place to write about it. In theory, there could be an outbreak anywhere you're planning to vacation, but because there aren't any message boards, you wouldn't know. That being said, I'm sure I'd be worried about it too. Maybe you could talk to your dr. or nurses about it and get their opinion?

I'm 19 weeks pregnant and we're going to WDW in 16 days. I'm going, virus or no virus. I figure that I can get sick just as easily at home by going to crowded places (the mall, my job, the movies) as I can at Disney. I'm going to be very careful and wash my hands a lot as pregnant women can get more sick than non-pregnant women. However, no stupid virus is keeping me from my long awaited Disney Vacation!

He he you are so funny :lmao:. I think that would be my attitude too

Thats a tough discussion.. especially with you being pregnant. I don't want to tell you whether you should or not.. but I hope either way it works outs for you!

Thanks for the opinions everyone. If it were just me, of course I wouldn't hesitate to go, but I have someone to be responsible for now. My doctor told me that if I ever get a stomach bug and can't keep anything down to go straight to the hosipital because I would dehydrate fast. So if we get there and end up with an ER visit, it would be horrible, not to mention that ER fees are ridiculous, even after insurance coverage.

We talked about it all last night. We're still debating...:guilty:

If you decide to go, lysol and purell everything as you always and maybe even opt for a surgical mask or scarf (but i doubt it'll be that cold) It may look a little silly but least u'll be at disney and know ur baby is safe :thumbsup2

There was a similar virus going around last year when i still lived and worked there. My boyfriend and i never caught it and we were at the parks almost every week. Just play it safe

We just got back from Disney, were there 12/10-12/17, and I didn't hear anything about this. We also didn't catch any stomach bugs, just a nasty cold, but I think that was on the airplane on the way back.

I probably would not cancel b/c you have been looking forward to the trip so much and you can get sick anywhere. I would just be extra careful to avoid touching hand-railings and things like that and wash your hands often.

But if you do cancel, could you reschedule for a few months after Brayden is born - that would be fun too! :goodvibes

We went when our baby was 2 1/2 months old and if you do decide to reschedule, that is a GREAT time to go. We had a blast and the baby centers were the best!!! I highly recommend that age...he was cute in pictures and slept most of the trip so it was like we were still on vacation!!:cutie:

Merry Christmas!!:santa:

I know I have said this before but now I am saying it for real, so...

:santa: MERRY CHRISTMAS:santa:

Hope you all have a great day.
