~The Daily Grind~ 5/7/10

 Rebecca! I'm so glad to hear that your Dad is doing well!

I got home from jury duty around lunchtime. By then, I was an ice cube. Boy, was it cold in that building. Here they are grumbling about $$ in the budget. They could save lots of $$ if they turned the thermostat up a bit in that huge building! Anyway, I didn't get picked to be on a jury so I'm off the hook until next time!

Yea, Rebecca - so pleased your dad is making nice progress! I've been thinking about you.

Congrats, DIT on NOT getting chosen for jury duty!

Rebecca so glad to hear it's going so well for you dad.

Ann I feel your pain literally, I have done that job in my parents old house we did like 3 rooms UGH

Brooke continued prayers for Blythe and family

Pam how's DH holding up? and boo hiss for bullies you need to move north my friend here we don't tolerate that behavior. the kids actually take care of it themselves cause one administrator thought she could teach them all to be friends. That person ended up with war on her hands and got the picture real fast that the parents aren't backing her behavior.

Holly hang in there. I'm not going to lie it's going to be a rough time. But your mom gave you the stength to handle this and you will. Remind yourself everyday that she was proud of the person you are and how well you've raised Bubba is a tribute to her. Hug him a little tighter and be strong for him as well, he's going to be hurting to especially when he sees you hurting. Hugs my friend I'm here when you need a shoulder.

Rebecca ~ good news for Dad!!! Continued thoughts and prayers from our home to yours!!!

AWM, as your pulling those staples out imagine where you could stuff them if the need ever arises!! That has gotten me thru many remodels.... The people who remodeled this house should have had their heads examined because we have had to fix their "remodel" because they half did the job or rigged the job... It's a mess.... but once we are finished it will be good and safe for all of us.... We found spliced wires behind a sheet of drywall that led NO WHERE! We traced them to NOTHING but an empty box.. no electricity going thru them from either end...but they were spliced with MASKING TAPE!!!

DIT ~ Congrats on NO Jury duty!!! :) DH was alternate once..had to sit in the hallway the entire time..... He was livid.... livid....

That is some bad remodeling. The builders who built our house only did a so-so job. Nothing hideous, but enough that we have to redo some floors. The tile in entry way is bad. The carpets all buckle. The back door leaks. Oh and yes, the basement leaked. Stupid leaks. Makes me say bad words.

I've got some band aids on my boo boos from the finger joints and knuckles being pinched between plier and wood block lever. Oh and being slammed to the ground when a stuck staple finally comes loose. Got a few of those. :sad2: Wish I would have put on the leather gloves before I got those.

I'm done with what I can do. There are still about 10 I just can't work loose. Need more weight that I have to move them.

Welcome home, Deb.

Prayers for beautiful baby Blythe - may she thrive and prosper!

gloves and knee pads are your friends (and safety glasses, too!)

Out of memory error.

My goals for the day were to go to the gym, run errands, scrap, and visit the historical society to do some research.

I ended up sleeping through gym, did run errands and do the historical society. I'll scrap later.

Last night at stamp class we made a gift bag and matching card. It turned out SO beautifully, I decided to have my neighbors in for a class with that as a project. Now, who can I give a gift to?

Happy day, all.

We found spliced wires behind a sheet of drywall that led NO WHERE! We traced them to NOTHING but an empty box.. no electricity going thru them from either end...but they were spliced with MASKING TAPE!!!

When my parents remodeled the 80 year old house I grew up in, there were several layers of wallpaper. When we stripped the wallpaper, we found the holes and wiring for pairs of light sconces is three different rooms behind the wallpaper, not even behind a wall. And at least one pair were live, and my Dad got a little shock. The house had 2 converted apartments upstairs, so there were lots of little "surprises" everywhere.

Knock on wood, the previous owners of our house seemed to take care with their projects. The inspector pointed out several "good" things they did that other people might be tempted to skimp on.

When we first moved in... I'll have to find the photo.. I had lime green, turq Blue & white striped & flower print wall paper in my dining room..and I had the lime green/truq blue carpet to match! It was BEAUTIFUL, if we were still in the 60s!!!!
One day DH came home to find I had pulled that wall paper off the wall...and started on the carpet...

Welcome little Blythe!! Such a strong name!

Rebecca - glad to hear Dad's treatment went well and the tumors are shrinking so quickly!:thumbsup2

DIT - yay for quick jury duty!

Holly -

MM2000 - your comment reminds me of my old neighbor who used to say "Brother from another Motha" and "Sistah from another Mista"

Thanks for the smile.

Friday moving along here - Christy - still no saddle!! UPS tracking has it arriving today but since I was in town this morning I checked but UPS had not delivered there yet. I wonder if DD will ask me to drive back down after school??;)

SIOH- Hope little Blythe had a good first day! Sending P&PD to her and her mama and daddy!

rlovew- Sounds really good for your Dad! That's so great!

I had my eval today. Pretty much confirmed my impression that dayshift is not the shift for me. After 26yrs of evening shift, I'm not fitting the "dayshift mold". Went from role model to just plain average. So, while it was a good eval, I'm resigned to the fact that I can't change his impression of who he thinks I am, so I give. I heard a rumor today that there might be a full time evening shift position opening over the summer. I did the happy dance and was smiling for the rest of the day... hopefully it's a true rumor!!

Welcome home, Deb.

Welcome to the world, Blythe. May you get stronger each moment. I agree with Ann, her name brings to mind a petite strong southern woman! She is going to be a fighter!!

Stephanie, would you believe I have never been called for jury duty. :confused3

Holly
Nan, good luck to DS13's tournament.
PBF, we know there is no such thing as a non crazy day in the government work world.
rlovew, hope you feel better soon, and how wonderful that your Dad's treatment is going so well.

Things have been choatic around here, DD was up again last night. It's definitely an early night with sleep planned.

Have a great weekend, ladies!

Rebecca, glad to hear your dad's treatment is going well!

Deb, hang in there, dear! Hope that job comes thru!

I went to see Blythe today, but only parents and grandparents could go back, so I just got to see her beautiful pictures. My brother's wedding ring fits my thumb (and I have little bitty hands). His wedding ring goes all the way over her arm, and stands out all the way around in a big circle. It's the most amazing thing. She is off the respirator, though, and just has the tube in her nose, breathing the same kind of oxygen we do. They said she may go back to the respirator when tired, but otherwise, she's hanging in!! She's going to be a strong one!! Thanks, everyone, for all of the prayers and positive thoughts!!

That is good to hear Brooke...So tiny though..but one heck of a fighter!!! She's got a lot of DIS-Auntie support here!!!!

Brooke She is still in my prayers what a fighter.

I didn't get a darn thing done on my list after the errands. I sat down on the couch and next thing I knew it was 4:30. whoops

Oh well now i'm going to bed. Have a great night all.

I will keep her in my thoughts. It is so great that her little lungs are working properly.

Stephanie, would you believe I have never been called for jury duty. :confused3

This was my first time ever. Some of the people there have been called up lots of times. I guess the computer just never liked my name!:rotfl:

Brooke, I'm so happy to hear that Blythe is doing well. Continued prayers for her. She sounds like such a strong little girl!
