Evening all

Hope you've all had wonderful productive days.

I've been MIA other than a quick read through for the week and don't see it getting better anytime soon.
I'm cleaning out FIL's house so he can come home! (yes Nan I'm being polite and nice) Letting the skeleton out of the closet here ladies,,,,, think hoarders and that has been my life and will be for the next few weeks. Thank god I haven't found any of the animal type things I've seen on that show. I've gotten 90% of the wilton cake pans out of the house and I'm working on selling those. I'm hoping that on friday the dumpster trailer will be here. Tom (gotta love my hubby) cleaned out the worst of the kitchen today. and now I have a place to put trash bags. I will never understand the mentality of saving every receipt, letter and piece of paper. Or the buying issues I have 4 black garbage bags of clothing with tags still on it. My goal is to have 1/2 of everything bagged up and ready to go to the trailer when it arrives. that will also make me feel like I've gotten somewhere. If I can get the living room, kitchen and bathroom ready to go we can get him back in there and the rest he's going to have to help with. God help me on that one.

well off to deliver some cake pans and clean my own house I swear I will have NOTHING in my house other than whats necessary after I finish his. I will NEVER do this to my boys.

have a wonderful evening all

Bless your heart Christy!! I'd come over to help but there is no way I could get back in time for school on Monday!!! Definitely sell what you can to use for his living expenses & definitely to buy more cleaning supplies... I am a bare necessity girl too.. I keep alot but not my receipts..they get shredded.. I keep important kid parents but not every one... Good luck getting everything done for him to come home.. if he doesn't appreciate it with a thank you just smile and say "you're welcome"!!!

I wonder if someone place like Goodwill or Hope could come over & give you a hand -- There is a guy around here who does garage sells for people - he sets up & everything, not sure if you have someone like that around or not

I'm kinda afraid that he will get in there & think he needs more stuff & go buy more -- is someone going to be able to keep an eye on him??

God bless you for what you are doing:hug:

Nan I've already had the silent treatment and I'm stealing myself for no appreciation he was VERY quite the other day on the phone when i told him I'd started cleaning.

Reddy We are selling the car on him (well not on him) he very begrudgingly agreed. he can't afford it and it's his shopping habbits and eating out that have gotten him in this position. We have transportation for dialisys for back and forth only NO side trips. He will be using the senior center (where I work) van for his dr apts so I can kinda of control that too. He will be going there tue and thurs with me. If I happen to be shopping on one of the days he's with me then I will take him otherwise it's give me a list and I'll take Tom's debit card to his acct and get the stuff. I am also talking with the social worker at the nursing home abt getting him some pschy apts to cope with the fact that he's no longer in control and that we are cleaning it out.

I'm sure he's struggling and I feel bad about it for all of about 3 secs when i walk back into that house. L remembers Meme he was 5 when she passed and he just says what would meme say and shakes his head. My heart breaks for him and E. they deserve better than he has ever given them but that's a whole nother story! There are many days I question why he's here and she's gone.

Christy- so sorry to hear about your troubles. Good luck with all of what you are doing.

Rebecca

Thanks Rebecca.

I'm so glad that I have my friends "in the box" that I can talk to and pour out how I feel. I could never tell Tom how I feel. My mom just can't handle it and actually gets me madder. Tom's Aunt already can't stand his father so she's not much of a sounding board. Although she does tell me I'm brave. So thank you all for listening to my whining.

I can feel you pain Christy....come vent anytime you need!!! you are doing a wonderful thing, know that in your heart! sure Tom appreciates everything you are doing also!

my MIL passed back in 2005 and was a MAJOR packrat, FIL hasn't touch anything in her attic space where she stored everything....hoping I won't have to help BIL when the time comes to clear out all the crap, cause it will mostly go in a dumpster! and I'm not going to deal with all the drama I had with going through Jim's things again!

on a happier note, Beauty and the Beast was AWESOME! I saw it 10 years ago in NYC and don't remember it having so many jokes! was very entertaining!!!

Christy - i remember on some of the hoarding shows, the 1 800 GetJunk trucks being used to take stuff away. Have you considered this or is the expense not in the picture? I have no clue what the cost would be - but it might save you some time, energy and heartache!
I have a lifelong friend who also has this problem - I have to admit that although I love her, it keeps me from visiting her home.

Lisa I just want to wack him. It's cloths (2 sizes to big) and papers and just plain being lazy. I wish he'd have cleaned out her cloths and craft stuff after she passed but no he bought more crafts and cake pans. I just would like a peak into his head.

Caroline I have a 15 yrd dump trailer coming, hopefully it will be here friday. Same idea execpt I have to so the garbage hauling out of the house and this will be abt 300 for the rental and 1 trip to the dump.

I took the day off from it just needed a day at home to try to clean up my own house and do laundry.

THANK YOU both

Well, Lisa is your DH going to try and stay near Daytona and see the race tomorrow or is he heading back and going to spend tomorrow with you all?

Rebecca

A CM sister that I know and her husband who live in Port Orange took good care of DH during the rain yesterday. After the race was rescheduled he came back down to Vero, and drove back up to Daytona this morning.

Hoping the race will go on tonight. :car:
