The Crazy Life of a New Floridian & Ongoing TRs

Thanks for such incredible photos of our home away from home ... THE BOARDWALK:cool1: :thumbsup2 :cool1:

We use the resort delivery for packages all the time at BWV
and I can't remember the last time it was delivered to our room.

So sad about Pleasure Island closing ... although I am hoping that will mean more entertainment at the BW.:confused3

Almost spewed by cocktail when I read your comment about reading the menu and not ordering ... DH and I will celebrate 25 years of marriage (most of them happy) at WDW in June (see countdown in sig). We have been saying the same EXACT thing to each other for all these years ... hence the reason we are still together:laughing:
Jeff sure does have the bluest eyes I have seen in some time ... tell him Pedro can't hold a candle:thumbsup2 Although Pedro sure could bring me some of those beer samples:yay:

Looking forward to more ....

That bread pudding IS 2 die 4!!!! OMG, that stuff is the BOMB!!! Sticky toffee pudding is one of my favorite desserts, too, I'm so sad it wasn't that good at RR. I've never had it there, but I had LOADS of it in Scotland with a DGF (who is Scottish), and it was delicious!!

Love reading about your trip, I feel like I'm on vacation instead of yelling at my kids to do their homework!!!:rotfl:

Oh well...back to whippin' the kids!!

E

that food sounds so good. Is that I am stuck at the hospital or it is really good. I'm thinking that it is really good.

Sounds like a fabulous time, and a great dinner! I am sad that we never got to eat at RR, I'm sure we would have loved it!

We are the same exact way about saying we will wait and get something later, only to never end up getting it, or having to make a special trip TO get it! Good for you for going ahead with your purchase!

I was talking to my sister tonight and she said the first time they went to Disney they stayed at All Stars and they had their packages delivered to their room then, so maybe they made an across the board change, whenever that way.

You think I was sweet on sweet Pedro, just wait until you hear what Jeff said about our waitress at Le Chefs! :rotfl2: We're both all talk, but we have fun and like to joke about it! Fact is, we're too old and wouldn't know what to do with these sweet young things! :rotfl2:

Ellen - If it makes you feel any better, I'm back to yelling at mine to do her homework now too!!! So I guess writing about it makes me relive it some more!

Laura - so glad that Tim is out of surgery and doing better. Here's hoping he'll be back on his feet in no time! :thumbsup2 And by the way, the food WAS that good!

Oh, just wait, Jeff still made me back track during the trip to get little gifts for the gals in his office! Even though I am woman, hear me roar, I had the gifts picked out at the beginning of the trip, but he didn't listen to me.....

Lovin IT!:thumbsup2

Thanx, Jillian! Less than two months until our DISmeet!!! I still haven't told Ally about 1900PF, but I'll save that for my next PTR!!!!

My sister IM'd me today asking me why I hadn't sent her any photos yet. I sent her the link to my TR! :rotfl2: She knows about the DIS anyway, so I told her she'd just have to check in every day for updates!!! How sad, I'm making my family talk to me through the DIS now! :confused3

Loving the pictures Kara! :) You know now, I must add DTD to our "must do" list because of stitch!

Love the update Kara! :thumbsup2 I am really excited to try RR now! Funny, DH would love what Jeff got, including the dessert - and I would love what you got! Hmmm - must be our personalities! What was the deal with the "gaelic" did they all talk with an accent?

Oh, and yes, Stitch spits!

Renee - Depending which entrance of WoD you enter, you will find Micky, Stitch, or the Princesses. Inside it's basically a Disney mall, with about 8 different stores inside. It's awesome! But there's also the Lego store and all the Lego "sculptures" outside that kids love. Seriously, depending what they do with Pleasure Island now, DTD is almost a must see all its own!

Tammie - as for the gaelic, who knows? The little hostess was a bit.... odd. Jeff and I couldn't help but laugh at her as we watched her seat other people. She got lost when she was seating us and made a bunch of really sharp turns and backtracked. And when she talked to me, I think she was trying to be funny, but I didn't understand a word she was saying. I think she might have called me chickenhead, but I"m not sure. Again, I just smiled and nodded a lot.

Oh my lord -- I ADORE Raglan Road! Great food and alcohol porn, Kara! As expected, everything looked delicious! That bread pudding? Ok - I need a moment!:worship:

Count me as someone else who never recalled packages being delivered directly to your room. Was that when you were staying at that Bonnet Creek resort?:rotfl2:

Yeah, right! Whose acting like a cougar now?:rolleyes1 :lmao:

OK, here ya go! http://www.wyndhambonnetcreek.com/directions.php

It looks like it's "technically" not on Disney property, but when you see it, it is nearly across the street from OKW. And the directions even say to pass under the Disney sign. See? I'm not crazy!!!

Cougar! Only in my mind! ;) :lmao:

Great TR!

Now I want to stay at the Yacht Club. Actually, I want to try them all. Guess I may have to get a job.

You sound just like me discussing Pedro! That was me and the DSD at Tuttia Italia except there were about 8 waiters to choose from. We love Raglan Road also.

Haven't made it over to the Boardwalk, but know we need to do it sometime.

After a good night's rest, we were up at 7am, and out the door by around 8ish, trekking down the hallway to hop the bus to AK. I'm thinking that YC should have some rest stops in the hallways, you know, to fill our canteens for the long journey to the lobby and beyond. Whew! I think I had blisters before I even got on the bus!

We headed out along the boardwalk first and I snapped some more pics of BC this time....

BCbwmainentrance-1.jpg

I love the way BC and YC are connected, they're the same, yet different. So after roaming through BC halls for awhile, we headed out to catch the bus to AK.

Pic of BC from the bus stop....

BCfrombw-1.jpg

I swear, we hardly even used the YC bus stop - we always took short cuts from other resorts.

We got to AK shortly after the park opened, not trying for any rope drops this trip, just taking it "easy." Yeah, right. I wore my pedometer the whole time just to keep track of steps. When we were there in May, our heaviest walking day was 19,000 steps. We killed it this time!

As soon as we got to AK, Jeff agreed to go on Dinosaur with me if I'd ride Mission Space at Epcot. I made NO promises, but still got him on Dinosaur. He HATED it 10 years ago when we honeymooned at Disney, about 2 weeks after AK first opened. And he hated it again!!! :rotfl2: He kept his face down throughout most of the ride because he knew what was going to happen.... I loved it! And I can hardly wait to take Ally on it in November!

After Dinosaur, we headed over to EE, which only had a 10 minute standby wait. I've never seen the queuing for EE cause we've always done fastpass, and it was pretty cool.

I snapped a couple of pics as we were going up the hill....

AK-viewfromEE1.jpg

AK-viewfromEE2.jpg

From here we headed back toward Nemo: The Musical. It was just getting ready to begin when we walked in. Score!

And this was an awesome show!!! In fact, the woman sitting next to Jeff was almost as entertaining as the show itself. She sat with her mouth hanging open from start to finish, except from time to time to utter, "awwww" or something along those lines. Jeff thinks she had never seen the movie so she was shocked when Dory got hurt, and I thought she was going to cry several times.

Seriously though, great show!!!

We then trekked across the park to hit KS before heading out. Even though we said we were going to give AK the time it deserved, we just didn't want to eat lunch there this trip, so we knew we'd have to head to Epcot for some good eats.

A few KS pics....

I think this photo might have been taken in my backyard, not sure.... :rotfl2:

Ak-KS13.jpg

I'm always amazed that Disney has changed the landscape of Florida to really make you feel like you're in Africa. Love to ride KS every time we're here! And did you know how the lion always seems to be laying on the rock off to the left when you pass by? Disney has air conditioned that rock!!!!! Love Disney strategery and trickery.

For the first time ever, we blew off Festival of the Lion King, which, IMHO, is worth the price of admission to AK. I love that show and hate that we missed it. And once again, we bailed out of AK early. But in 2 hours we were able to hit 4 headline attractions, including a 30 minute show. Not bad!!! The park seemed very empty, even compared to May when we usually go.

So now the debate comes in. Should we take a bus to Epcot, or a bus back to BC and enter through the International Gateway? :confused3

The walk to the resort buses was closer, so we headed over and hopped a bus to BC - waited no more than 5 minutes for the bus and off we went. Quick stop at the Mahi Mahi, then on to BC. The driver asked all 5 of us on the bus which resorts we were needing, so he didn't even stop at the others. Love that driver!!!

From BC, we headed through the lobby and strolled right into the World Showcase through the IG. I just love this part of Epcot. In fact, the WS is my favorite part of all of WDW!!!

The first thing we noticed was.... NOTHING! As in, there was nobody there!

Epcot-WS4.jpg

This was at 12:30, so the WS had been open for an hour and a half by this time. And it was EMPTY!!!! Oh, did I mention that it was after 12:00 noon?

Time for this......

Epcot-slushies.jpg

Ahhhhh! I had never had the Gran Marnier Citron Slush before and it was - 2 numbers and a word - 2 DIE 4!!!!! Tasted just like an orange creamsicle! Jeff got the Absolute Citron Slush, which was lemony and refreshing, too.

Since we were just passing through France, next stop Morocco and Jeff wanted to eat lunch at Tangierine Cafe. We ate at Restaurant Marakkesh 10 years ago and were very pleasantly surprised then, so figured we'd try the Moroccan counter service this trip.

But first, an obligatory photo in our fave country in the WS!

Epcot-WSMorocco1-1.jpg

Who is that man and why is his hand on my knee??? Must be the gran marnier slush making me "easy."

Let me just say, this is now my new favorite CS in Disney!!! It used to be Cantina de San Angel or Yorkshire County Fish Shop, but I think Tangierine Cafe has surpassed those two.

I had the lamb wrap with lentil salad and couscous. I must find the recipe for the lentil salad - this was cold and refreshing, would be a great pot luck recipe in the summer!!!

Epcot-TangerineCafeKaraslunch.jpg

Jeff had the Shawarma chicken and lamb platter.

Epcot-TangerineCafeJeffslunch.jpg

And baklava for dessert.....

Epcot-WSTangerineCafedessert.jpg

Now that our bellies were happily full, it was time to walk off lunch. And what better place than around the World Showcase? And we're off......

Next up, our afternoon at Epcot, and dinner at Le Chefs de France.....

OH, I hope it is empty like that when we are there this weekend. I may have to try the Gran Marnier Citron Slush, I've tried the other also and liked it. But there is the Fiesta Margarita also.

Wait, where's Pedro?

CHICKENHEAD! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I laughed out loud at that one!

Jeff cracks me up on Dinosaur! You must take him on Jurassic Park at US sometime! :thumbsup2 Loved your pics of AK from EE! I would be afraid I'd drop the camera.

Slushie time - Yeah for an empty WS! Looks like you had a nice lunch- and you look really great, BTW!

Thanks Tammie, but I"ve got this growing out mullet thing going on right now with my hair. I really want to get to the chin length bob, but don't know if I'm gonna make it!!!

Jeff actually likes Jurassic Park at US/IOA. That one scared me more because I didn't know what to expect. The first time I rode Dinosaur, I won't kid you, it scared the poopoo out of me. But this time I just laughed watching Jeff. Now HE is a true chickenhead!!! :rotfl2:

What a great day so far ... no crowds in WS ... and Gran Marnier Slushies:woohoo:

I so want to try Tangierine Cafe!! Everything looks so yummy. Maybe I will get there in December ... Guess I will just have to drag DH and DD there and then let then get hamburgers from the CS at the American Pavillion:lmao:

Oh no, I'm late for your TR! I just got back from a quick trip to Animal Kingdom and Sea World, but I'm all caught up now. I'm glad you had a great time!

All your food pics look so yummy! And I can't believe how uncrowded Epcot was. We went to AK on Monday and it felt packed, but we didn't wait for anything. I rode Dinosaur for the 1st time and I LOVED it - but I can see why Jeff would be scared. :lmao:

I think they might have had chicken nuggets for kids. But really, my wrap was more like a gyro. Soooooo good!

Ya know, AK always seems crowded to me. I think it's just the way it's laid out, and the fact that the paths have a lot of plants growing right up alongside that you feel closed in. I think it's so pretty, but even when we only waited 10 minutes, it still felt crowded. But it wasn't. Make sense?

How bout them Jags this weekend????:thumbsup2
