The craze has started!!! TMX

My mom just called me and said she just bought 3.

We had the original Elmo that drove me nuts so I am still not convinced this Elmo is worth the hipe since my guy is under two and plays with toys for two seconds. He'd rather mess up the DVD's or throw cards around the house anyway.
I am grateful to Elmo for my tag tho' :goodvibes

OMG-- I cannot believe what they are going for on Ebay..... :teeth: . I ironically had thought of getting one and sitting on it until later November to see if it was HTF- then listing....hmmmm....sure they're sold out everywhere now.

They had them at walmart.com, though, so it's on the way!!!

Just keep on top of this.

I ordered something from Walmart.com last year thinking I was so smart shopping online early and having it shipped directly to my nephew.
I got all the confirmation e-mails verifying my order and giving me estimated shipping dates, etc.

Long story short... Bad Walmart.com experience!

I ended up rushing out and buying something locally (not what I wanted of course) and then paying a fortune to ship it so he would have it for Christmas.

So glad Elmo is not on my list this year ;)

One up for auction right now still has 1 and a half hours left and is up to $164!!!! :faint:

My aunt ordered one for DS1 online last week for Christmas on a presale. I remember what my parents went through for us to have Cabbage Patch Kids in 1983 so thankfully I won't have to worry about that myself just yet! The original one used to freak out the little boy I used to babysit for 10 years ago- this one seems like it is a bit better.

Oh boy this brings back memories. 10 years ago I was serving my first year as a Toys R Us employee.

We all got to wear a sticker that said, "No we have no Elmos, we have no Elmos today!" (as in the banana song? )

It was crazy, every distant relative asked me to get one for them.

DS got one then for our annual Christmas party in November (weekend after Thanksgiving) from my aunt who worked for Walmart. We actually talked about selling the thing when they started going for 200 bucks! But, he slept with it and really loved it, so we couldn't do it. We still have that first Elmo!

there are now over 12,000 of them listed on EBAY and the auctions are going at close to $300.

I think most of the buyers on EBAY right now are probably people hoping to turn around and resell them closer to Christmas. I really can't imagine that there are that many parents out there even thinking about Holiday gifts yet.

The news articles are saying that Fisher Price has (of course) WAY underproduced these compared to expected demand. They didn't even produce as many as what the "old style" Tickle Me Elmo toy sold last Christmas.

I showed my 3yo the video from money.com and he thought it was hilarious.
