We will be making our first September trip to WDW this year, and from what I understand it is usually during this month that the crane is up installing Christmas lights to Cinderella's castle. What should I most likely expect for the last week of the month. I know the crane isn't the end of the world, but I'm just curious what its status has been in the past around this time of year.

TIA!

I'd forgotten about the crane :( Hope it's finished before we get there that last week. we do stretch into October, so we might get some shots without it hopefully.

Well, darn. I was hoping for my husband (this will be his first trip) to see the castle scene without the crane looming in the background, but oh well--we are all gonna be delighted to be in WDW, crane or no crane! :rainbow:

Anybody know how early in September it goes up? We will be there 8 thru 15. Just curious, there could be worse in life than a silly crane!

In my experience It goes up after Labor Day. But I've also been told the crane was already backstage since late July & there was a chance the crane could go up early since they were already working on the castle stage walkway.

I want to say that I saw pictures last week that already had the crane up because of the Hub construction...

At least my DS will be excited to see it when we get there next week... He loves any and all construction vehicles! :-)

I went on the 15th last year, and it was there. On 2013 I was there on the 12th, and it wasn't. I must say though, I went back on the 19th last year for a Halloween party and it was there but it was lowered, and it wasn't as noticeable.

It's always hard to judge! We used to always go around MLK weekend and NEVER saw the crane, then last year for the first time it was there! I was so surprised - I guess we've always just lucked out.

In the past few years, we've been there as late at September 15th and no crane. It's always been there by the start of Food & Wine, though. When people ask me why it's there when they see our pictures, I tell them Tinkerbell isn't a morning fairy so they need to send people up there to make sure she gets up. Even an annoying crane can seem magical if you try. :)
