Just for fun post, but in case you were wondering. Total points needed: 17,302. At $145/point

Contract Purchase: $2,508,790
Yearly Maintenance: $112,463

Lets hope they dont start charging to park.

Who's in?

Wife and I had just figured out the totals for CCV last week. Great minds think alike.

The downside with Golden Oak is you can't walk/boat to the park.

I think staying in a one bedroom for a year would be pretty limiting.

I think I could probably rough it in a Grand Villa Theme Park view for year round living:
40,600 points required.
Direct purchase ($225/pt): $9,133,425
Yearly dues: $259,770.

I was waiting for someone to point out that Golden Oaks is buses only. :)

(The 4+ BRs do provide a little extra room...and the annual dues are a little cheaper...)

I'll slum it at SSR in standard view 1BR for a year (April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020 calculated) at 10,778 points.

Buy in today at, say, $100pp is....... $1,077,800
AD based on 2019 dues is.............. $68,979.20

Oh, and it would cost me less buy in since I already own 650 points. So I only need 10,128 more.

Didn't even know Golden Oaks had busses to the parks.
And the dues include park admission, something the dues to DVC doesn't.

(reminds herself to buy a Powerball ticket)

I do believe you can't own more than 4000 points per resort. So you might have to split stay between Boulder Ridge, Copper creek and Bay lake.

That's per contract. If you title the first contract as John A. Doe, and the second as John B. Doe, and so on and so forth, you can get past the restriction. The problem would be that you'd have to book 4000 points of stays at a time, and risk some small amount of unusable points in each contract.

Disney sells guaranteed weeks so I'm sure they wouldn't turn away your money for guaranteed months or years...

I'd like to imagine the guides eyes popping out of his head when you ask this guaranteed year question... Imagine their commission on that sale.

Ha!

"I see I can have a guaranteed week on my contract. Would it be possible to have more than one guaranteed week?"

"I'll have to check, sir. How many weeks were you thinking?"

"Fifty-Two"

For a similar amount of money you could buy one of the less expensive homes in Golden Oak

2.35M, with 33K a year in property taxes and another 25K (not sure if thats accurate) a year in membership fees. The 25K includes park tickets and transportation to the parks.

Bargain, as far as MF goes... I wonder if owners at Golden Oaks are allowed to sell privately, or are contractually bound to only sell through the developer (like nursing homes/retirement village units)? Could they rent out some weeks via Airbnb?

OK enough day dreaming. 3 weeks worth of points is as much capital as I'm willing to park in a non-productive, depreciating asset!

You'd probably still have to hop around. I believe there is a rule to prevent you from establishing residence by staying in the resorts. :)

GO is definitely the way to go if money is no object and you wanna live in Disney 24/7.

You can only stay something like 28 or 30 days in a row at one resort. Then have to move. We were entertaining a dream of owning enough points to do 3 winter months. But with all the DVC shenanigans as of late, that dream has been quashed.
