The sugar cookie dough is all mixed up and chilling in the fridge. Just watching Santa Clause 2 until it's ready to cut and bake. The house is going to be smelling awfully good pretty soon.:goodvibes

I just made gingerbread cookies.....yum.
Sugar will be next weekend with DD.....LOVE Christmas cookie baking.

I made cut outs, chocolate chip and peanuter butter today. I also made snickerdoodle but had to throw them out.

I have never been able to get snickerdoodle's right. They always come out to be a funky texture and they taste weird so I finally gave up on making them. My sugar cookies are all baked now. I'm just waiting for them to cool so I can decorate with DS11. He loves decorating with mom!:goodvibes

My sugar cookie dough has been chilling all afternoon. I baked up a test batch for us to have tonight as we watch "It's a Wonderful Life." Tomorrow i will bake up the rest and decorate them as well.

When I have cookie dough, it only has a 50/50 chance of reaching the oven. I can consume mass amounts of raw cookie dough. You're making me hungry for it right now. Chilled cookie dough...yummmmm....

Do you freeze your cookies when you make them this far in advance? Or do they keep?
I also would love to make all of my choc dipped pretzels now, but I'm not sure if I sure refridgerate them, with the chocolate and jimmy's (or 100's of thousands as my DIL from Ireland calls them) or leave them in a sort of cool place (cellar). Any suggestions?

I'm not going to freeze this batch. I'll probably end up making more later so we'll have some for Christmas. My boys have been begging for sugar cookies and my dad has dropped a few hints. I'll take some to my parents tomorrow and the kids will probably eat the rest during the week. I even put a few extras in their lunches during the week before Christmas so they can share with their friends at lunch.

I've never made chocolate dipped pretzels. I wonder if putting them in the fridge or freezer would make the pretzels soggy when they thaw out? Maybe someone else has done it before?

That's why I used egg substitute in cookie dough. It's pasteurized so we can eat cookie dough without having to worry about eating raw eggs!

My sister and I are having a cookie-baking weekend, beginning next Saturday. We both work at the same company and decided to do fancy cookie baskets as holiday gifts for co-workers. This will be my first attempt at decorating beyond sprinkling sugar or a swirl of frosting. We'll be cooking them on sticks and decorating them for "bouquets" of cookies. Wish us luck that they turn out pretty and we don't kill each other. ;)

Here's a pic of what we hope to accomplish - although the Santa may be a bit advanced for us.

I feel so much better after reading that. I can bake just about anything (within reason) But I can't get snickerdoodle's to save my life. Maybe it is because I can't stand them. lol My poor kids love them ,but not mine. ha ha
