Who is using welfare money to buy plates??? :confused3

You know they are on welfare, how?

Now, I don't have statistics, but if anyone can google something, I'd be grateful. I'm going to guess that the easy majority of people on welfare voted for Hussein. Just a guess, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

Another of O's pledges/positions has reached its expiration date:
Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Dachle's (D-S.D.) reported selection as secretary of health and human services could violate one of the pledges set out by President-elect Barack Obama's transition team, consumer advocacy group Public Citizen said this afternoon.

Daschle's work as a public policy advisor in the Washington, DC office of law firm Alston & Bird, the group says, "appears to flatly contradict" an ethics pledge that prohibits political appointees in Obama's new administration from working on regulations and policy that could affect their previous employers of the past two years.

Among other issues, Daschle advises Alston & Bird's clients on healthcare–an area of policy that can fall under the Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) purview–according to the law firm's website. Daschle joined the firm in May 2008, according to Alston & Bird's site.

Public Citizen says that appears to contradict this pledge, outlined on the ethics page of Obama's transition website under the heading "Free the Executive Branch from Special Interest Influence":

Close the Revolving Door on Former and Future Employers: No political appointees in the Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointee will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration.

The same pledge appeared in identical language on Obama's campaign website. The ethics page of Obama's transition site presents much of the same language as its campaign analogue.
Another one bites the dust... more "Change you can believe in" as Obama fills in his administration with Washington Insiders and Clinitonistas.

Well, I took it to be a JOKE but maybe that's because I have a sense of humor. Sigh. Isn't it sad that we now have to back up a JOKE with facts?

No use in googling - it's not worth your time. :)

:goodvibes I hope everyone is doing well! I haven't been around because once I start DISing, I can't stop, really, I can't! School is kicking my behind, but I'm sure you're all glad about that, you don't want a nurse treating you who skates on through nursing school! So my mind has been focused and I can't be distracted. Granted, this past presidential election has distracted me so much. I haven't even put FOX news on since the election. My heart is broken  and I am sick. I don't even want to think what will happen.

As a court reporter, and a Citizen! I am very disturbed by Obama promise to put judges in the Supreme Court who will be "more sympathetic" while coming to decisions. SYMPATHY HAS NO PLACE IN LAW!!!!!!! JUSTICE IS BLIND!!!!!!
I can see it now: Tom shot Mary. But Tom's gonna get off with a slap on the wrist because, you see, Tom grew up in foster care and the system has let him down, so he's a product of his environment and he didn't realize right from wrong. Mary's family, her husband and two little babies? Well, they can go straight to hell because, after all, Mary's husband has a great job and he's making $150, 000 a year and he can afford to hire a full-time nanny. But that poor Tom, he will only suffer more if he is incarcerated.

Yup, that's what we need. Sympathy coming from the bench...

Okay, I've got a care plan I have to write out and hand in on Saturday morning! Just wanted to stick my two cents in! (which, by the way, will be taxed an extra 10 cents because me and my husband make too much money and we don't deserve to have that 12 cents anyhow.)

"Sully" is malfunctioning, too. So sometimes, when no one else is around, "Sully" just starts talking automatically...kind of freaked me out at first, until I figured it out...:rotfl:

We had a Furby that did that once, when my oldest was around 10. Stupid thing would start talking in the middle of the night and wake her up. It freaked her out so bad she shoved him way in the back of her closet, but he kept talking in there and she could still hear him so she finally threw him away. She had wanted that Furby so badly, but she did NOT want a possessed Furby. :lmao: If you ask me, Furbys were a little freaky in the first place.

On what grounds? There isn't a mark even close to his name. How could he argue that the ballot was even remotely intended for him?

Because the oval was not completely darkened by a #2 pencil, obviously. :rotfl:

I'm so sick of our current Pres-elect's ego. Give me a break.

I know...and he hasn't even taken office yet. :sad2:

Hey, who do y'all this vote was intended for?
plymouth1.JPG

Al Franken is challenging this ballot.

Franken is such a joke...I can't believe people take him seriously.

Here's my "Trinity"

Aw...how sweet. What kind of dog is Trinity?

:rotfl2: ...my mom bought my youngest son a Furby years ago (my sister's daughter had one, and since they were the same age, whatever she got one grandkid, the other one got as well...) It did the same thing...and my son threw it away, too. I agree, they were a tad freaky.

I'm not googling because I was using what's called 'humor'.
You're right, MM. It's sad that we now have to back up jokes with what they deem to be facts.

Okay, can I do a totally off topic vent? Totally off topic. Oh, and yes, I'll probably offend someone here (or someone who lurks here) so here goes....

Why does my mother ask me for detailed Christmas lists for me, DH and the kids and then buys nothing from them? She's offended if we give the same lists to other family members, so whatever is on the lists we give her we are guaranteed not to get? Do you know how hard it is to make up several lists for various members of the family and make sure there are no repeats on lists (MIL can't have the same list that my mom gets).

I could care less if I get gifts for Christmas, but last year I made an effort to make up a list of things I really DID want. I didn't get a single thing off the list - and these were all easy things - like DVDs or Soundtracks or a jewelry box. Nothing special.

Why ask for a list if you're not going to give anything off of it?

Okay - I'm ready for the flames now. :)

Mark my words, it (sadly) will be Senator Franken when this is all over. In spite of all of the complaints about alleged GOP voting shenanigans, nobody... and I mean NOBODY, is as good at "finding" new votes as the Democrats in close races!!!

Don't I know it! That's how we ended up with Gregoire's first term. She lost the race, lost the first two recounts she demanded, and somehow, miraculously there were votes out of a county that happened to be found for her. :rolleyes1

Why would anybody flame you for that? That would drive me bananas too. I'm kinda stubborn and mouthy, though, so I'd probably have said "Why, you aren't gonna use it!" by now. :lmao:

:lmao: Has anyone e-mailed this to the White House yet?

I think that I may have to check out this hotel next month. I'm intrigued.

while you're there, don't forget to stop downstairs at the fountain. they make their own ice cream each day. my favorite combination is one scoop of chocolate and one scoop of mandarin orange in a cup. delicious!

She's an Italian Greyhound ("iggie", as some people call them). Your picture of Jack in his winter parka made me smile because we have to do the same thing for Trinity -and we're in NC! She'd never make it in Alaska; I think we're going to have to move to Florida for her sake. :goodvibes

Geoff, I agree... when the dust settles it will be SEN Al Franken. :sad2:

On a related matter, in at least one way I like the position conservatives are in now in DC. With the large majorities in both houses (forget the Seante 60, because Dems already have plenty), H in the White House, and leftists sprinkled all over the tops of every department the Dems are now solely and singly repsonsible and answerable for every decision that government makes, great and small. When the wheels come off this bus there will not be a Republican in sight that even the most desperate Dem can blame.
Reid and Pelosi can quit their god-awful whining and yammering about obstructionist Republicans. They have effective super-majorities. Republicans should count it as lucky if the Dems give them advance notice about times and places of Committee meetings -much less a voice. There is no power or influence whatsoever inside the beltway for conservatives. Rejoice Repubicans, for we are now free from responsibility or influence over anything. There can be no valid critique which includes even a whisper of negativity toward us for the next two years. Democrats have free reign. The pig trough is wide open. Let all the little piggies come, and then let them be slaughtered in 2010 (politically speaking, of course). :surfweb:

The article I read (linked on drudge) just said he was challenging it. I can't fathom why. :confused3 I think this illustrates the level of inanity at play in American politics today.

probably because it wasn't all filled in nicely enough. or not a number 2 pencil. sounds like a BUNCH of number 2 to me....

:lmao:
... and the people challenging this ballot are of the same ideological ilk as those who actually defended the morons in FL who couldn't properly use a butterfly ballot in 2000. :lmao:
