Sorry everyone! Just spreadin' the wealth, spreadin' the wealth ...

[seriously, I thought most everyone was winding down for the day - I guess I didn't wait long enough --- apologies everyone!:flower3: ]

I don't know whether to laugh or recoil in horror!

Btw, that stupid barry manilow sings the 80's commercial was on the same time as I saw that photo. The stuff nightmares are made of! Remember, I'm a single mom this week!

awwww....I love love love hearing stories like these....

at 41, I'm in the 'given up' stage and that's actually a cool place to be - I haven't given up in despair or hopeless resignation, I've just re-positioned my mindset. I like, even love, my life - God gave it to me and He knows more than I do about what suits me best.

Besides all that, we have to save the world from H and his clinton-esque minions - I'm too busy to get married!

yup! funny, but you start to realize that self is pretty good company. and there's a lot of room for kitties in my house when there aren't man feet stomping around.

(wow...don't mean to sound like a man-hater...the good guys just seem to be somewhere else.)

Yup...seriously. I'm a single mom too for the past five months, seven more to go. Good thing I have my big bad (yeah right, haha) doggie to protect me.

I'm warning you, if you let a man in the house the kitties will suddenly like him better. :rolleyes1

it is really weird, 'cause i've nursed quite a few fella friends through all the same stuff i and you go through...funny how difficult it can be to just get two really great people together. like we're living in a time warp of some sort...the great guys are on one side and the great women are on the other.

you start to think, "okay...all i ask for is somebody with a job, something to talk about, and hopefully some sorta hobby."

You're exactly right! at this point, maybe just 'upright' will do?!?!??

which then reminds me that there are a lot worse things out there than not being married....

its true!!! Our cat loves DH the best! The dog loves both of us, but acts like a nut when daddy comes home. Its like having a three year old toddler when he walks in the door. The dog is beside himself with glee!

12 months. I will complain NO MORE! That takes major strength! You have my highest praise!

That sounds a lot like my house. I rescue them and DH gets all the love. Maybe if I wasn't the one giving shots, cleaning ears, triming toenails and other such not-so-fun vet stuff they'd love me more.

you could be a liberal!

naw.. then you wouldn't be so funny and understanding and compassionate!

i found a little dog on the freeway once (yes...i am the crazed female running around in traffic trying to save all manner of things)...and i had a date that night. the guy came in, and the dog used his shoe for a fire hydrant. nice guy just grabbed some paper towels and took care of his shoe, but as it turned out, the dog was right.

the furry children always just know right away. and i like to pretend that the girls love me best and that it ISN'T just because i can open the cans.

You ARE amazing in that you downplay this so much - I'd be whining like crazy but you take everything in stride...and I have a couple of those big bad dogs myself - they're so big and bad that they'd knock me down trying to hide behind me if trouble ever came my way. :sad2:

I met DH when he was already out. Weirdly, I had seen him just over a year earlier at a bar I wasn't supposed to be in. (Easter break, fake id, friends, etc etc) He was home on leave in his dress uniform. I went weak in the knees when I saw him. He was busy talking to his friends so he never looked up. Just over a year later he went weak seeing me - and did ask me out. I guess it all worked out! I am very thankful that I got to see him in his uniform, even if not close up. Through all our moves in the Detroit area we'd always lived within miles of each other. We even went to the same HS. His time in the army had him the farthest away, and somehow I managed to see him during that time.

I guess I'm stuck with him! :)

I have one, as long a you don't mind younger guys. You pretty much summed up BIL (24) he lives in NC, so he's not that far from you..............

Who knew simply by posting in the Conservative Thread that I'd have people offering to set me up! :rotfl: I'm laughing because I dunno if you saw the part of the thread from the weekend where nanner suggested a friend of her cousin's would be a great match for me. I'd need more details from you both. I'm picky.

Yeah, the "what I want" list tends to get more simplistic as you get older. My biggest thing is the guy has to put his relationship with God and Jesus first, and spirituality would have to be the biggest part of our relationship. I'm one of those who believes a successful relationship for me as a Christian has to be based on a foundation of God and His word. So, as I've gotten older, I've realized I refuse to waste my time with any guy who cannot give me that. That, conservatism, kindness, loyalty, trustworthiness, and responsibility are all things I will not budge on. I'd rather be single forever than settle for less.

This trip was all about splurges. I'll have to post pix of my flowers later.
Oh, I'd love to see them! I've never ordered from the Disney Florist before.

i have on occasion thought, "terminally-ill, 98 year old billionnaire", but that's horribly coarse. it is coarse, right?

in 2007 i went on two trips to wdw. one with just me (flower and garden festival) and one with the boyfriend. guess which one felt more like a fun vacation?

I agree! I totally forget that you're dealing with EVERYTHING right now!

Deb>> You're welcome... and thanks back!

My sweet Roo [not the pup in my avatar] once growled at a young fellow who had come to visit. I was silly enough not to pick up on THAT good advice early on. Roo was right and, if I had listened to him, I would have saved myself from a lot of heartache.
