Their marriage is completely founded on their shared faith. Lots of other things they have in common complement that. But I look at those two in their marriages, and my parents and one set of grandparents, and I say to myself that's what I want.

i suspect this clarity will help you to find the exact right person.

I don't know about that since no one I've met around here even fits that basic description. But it has helped me know what I absolutely do not want. I suspect that will save me much grief in the months and years ahead. Or so I hope, anyway! :rotfl:

Night all! Have a good Wednesday.

Who made hockey schedules? I should not be coming home just before midnight on a school night!

I hear ya'...crazy, isn't it? We haven't done hockey (those early a.m. practices were a big turn-off..) but my son's baseball games sometimes go real late. And in Alaska, we've had games where they've had to call a 'sun delay'...at midnight!...because the sun is in the catcher's eyes.

My all-time favorite has to be, however, when there was a mama moose and her baby in the end zone during a football game. They tried for about 20 minutes to get them to leave, then determined they weren't going to hurt anyone, so they just continued on with the game...and they stayed in the end zone. I so wish I had my camera then.

It's official - Ted Stevens lost his Senate race tonight. Why oh why did he even win the stupid primary!??!?!!??

I know, Debbie. I am so frustrated. He is so well-liked up here...very respected, so he had a big following. I liked the guy challenging him in the primary, and voted for that guy. I wish Stevens wouldn't have run. Ah well, that's the way it goes. The Republican party needs some shaking up here in Alaska, as well as nationally. Let's hope they all get their act together.

or maybe this is a better morph...

Thanks, Debbie...right before bed, too! :scared1:

I met DH when he was already out. Weirdly, I had seen him just over a year earlier at a bar I wasn't supposed to be in. (Easter break, fake id, friends, etc etc) He was home on leave in his dress uniform. I went weak in the knees when I saw him. He was busy talking to his friends so he never looked up. Just over a year later he went weak seeing me - and did ask me out. I guess it all worked out! I am very thankful that I got to see him in his uniform, even if not close up. Through all our moves in the Detroit area we'd always lived within miles of each other. We even went to the same HS. His time in the army had him the farthest away, and somehow I managed to see him during that time.

I guess I'm stuck with him! :)

What is it about a man in uniform? I've been married almost 14 years to my guy and he's been in the service the whole time. I still get a little weak kneed when he comes home from his drill weekends in uniform. One time even my mom said "wow" when he walked in. Military men are so hot

Good morning everyone! I agree, those men in uniform are smokin'!

Oh, I just watched the howobamagotelected video, and I almost cried. That's so sad! I'm a firm believer in that you should have to take some sort of test before voting- something like knowing who's in charge of Congress! (btw, I think that's why Congress has such low approval ratings; Republicans don't approve because we don't like what they're doing, and the Democrats disapprove because they think we're in charge!)

from Newsbusters --

i have on occasion thought, "terminally-ill, 98 year old billionnaire", but that's horribly coarse. it is coarse, right?

in 2007 i went on two trips to wdw. one with just me (flower and garden festival) and one with the boyfriend. guess which one felt more like a fun vacation?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Ummm????? We leave DH at home because he's too cool for WDW. So, I'm guessing the solo trip felt more like a vacation.

I am afraid to say that I don't know a terrible amount of what Robert Gates has done since he has been Sec of Defense. Which is especially reprehensible since he used to be president at my school (A&M). How has he been doing, and more importantly, do you think Obama will ask him to stay on?

I ask this because we recently erected a memorial for 9/11 on campus and it had a quote from Gates right after 9/11. We have a tradition to yell BEAT THE HELL OUTTA (insert school we are facing here). He stated "BEAT THE HELL OUTTA TERRORISM!" Also I ask because it seems quite a few Obama supporters want him to stay on as well. Do you all agree?

I have one, as long a you don't mind younger guys. You pretty much summed up BIL (24) he lives in NC, so he's not that far from you..............
Nope. SD has a lawyer. We can give this one to my SIL in VA. :rotfl:

you start to think, "okay...all i ask for is somebody with a job, something to talk about, and hopefully some sorta hobby."

What if their hobbies are beer and/or narcotics?

Just popping in to say 'Hi'. Always enjoy this thread and the santuary of it. Don't post here often but felt the need to do so today.

Holy Cow!! I'm gone for a day and a half and you all talk about 30 pages! I'm not going to catch up.

Soo....what'd I miss? Anything spectacularily fun?

I bought a dresser yesterday. It was originally marked at $1100 and I got it for $360!!!!! Of course when DH helped me bring it in the house (it's incredibly heavy), I dropped my end of it and cracked one of the feet. Darn it all! Good thing though - it's one of the back feet, but still...

Have a great day today. I'm off to my dentist in about an hour - she's so darn cool and a Republican too so we have some interesting conversations.

Have you ever noticed that your dentist seems to want to have deep conversations with you--but your mouth is all full of gauze, and that little vacuum sucker thingie? Makes the conversations slightly one-sided:lmao:

I'm sick and go to bed early and you guys add what? 15 more pages?

on the way home tonight, i was listening to my fave rave conservative talk radio....a guy called in and said that until the electoral college "votes" on 12/15, BOH is not actually president elect...and since he gave up his senatorial position today, he's actually just...well...just a guy.

and yet, despite his lack of place, i understand he had a little telephone chat with the leader of the PLO today(?!?!?!?)

My co-worker came to my desk the other day, shaking her head. She told me that CNN was going on and on about how Obama is "acting Presidential" but laying low because he "understands that there's currently only one President of the United States" yet CNN went on to say how he was calling CA and "offering help".

Right now Obama is just a US citizen. He's no longer a Senator. He's not yet President (despite what he thinks, his campaign thinks, and apparently many of his supporters think)

Who, exactly, is Obama offering up for help with the wild fires? Himself? His family? :confused3 He's currently not in a position to offer anyone else.

But the funny thing is - CNN went on and on about how Obama was laying low and recognizing that there’s "only one President" and then go into the story about how he's calling CA to offer help and they don't see a problem with their new story??

Thanks for the welcome! And now the aforementioned cake........

Oh my gosh - that cake is amazing! I'm stressing about cakes right now. I want something really special from Disney for my 30th b-day next month but it is hit or miss with them. I've seen some amazing cakes they've done yet I've seen some cakes that I could have bought for half the price at Wal-Mart. I will be calling the Boardwalk Bakery for my cake as I want it served at a dinner at Spoodles. This is a splurge trip for me and money is not an option, so I'm not concerned over the cost of a cake - I just want something amazing and not be something I could have bought at any grocery store as I know the Disney bakeries have the capabilities of pulling off amazing stuff when they care to do so. So, since I'm calling the Boardwalk Bakery - should I try to speak with Kelly?

He's right. It used to be the one time of the year that everybody celebrated no matter your religion.
But I don't say happy holidays or seasons greetings. I say Merry Christmas!:goodvibes

So with all this Christmas talk, any ideas what to get a baby who will be 11 months on Christmas Eve?
He loves Mickey Mouse, Pooh, and Tigger. He has a stuffed Mickey that's about 2.5 feet tall, doesn't talk or anything. He also has a stuffed Pooh and a bouncy Tigger.

Mmmmm.....cake!

I can't believe y'all haven't mentioned Alan Keyes going after Hussein regarding his questionable citizenship.

BTW, does anyone have an update on Hussein's response to the SC? He only has til Dec. 1st doesn't he?

I saw that yesterday. I don't believe he's legal but, I have a feeling he's going to get away with it.....and he knows it. The BC being sealed is key.IMHO That and the fact his medical and school records are so secretive. If he was adopted.....he CAN'T get a copy of a BC for "Barack Hussien Obama". He can only get a copy with his adopted name. There may be more than one issue involved. He "may" have also been born in Kenya. I don't think we will ever know the truth....for the "greater" good of the nation. There is a reason he has only released the COLB. Common sense tells us that.
