My in-laws are coming for Thanksgiving. Pray for me.

Here's the funny part. I've made it with and without the mustard and I can tell absolutely no difference. I assume that it is for a bit of tang though. It's a delicious salad that everyone asks for at Christmas and Thanksgiving, most people in my family have attempted to make it at one time or another and they always wind up scrambling the egg so it has officially been turned over to me and I am expected to bring it. The only problem is that it smells horrible when your cooking the egg. You have to cook the egg with mustard and lemon juice over very low heat until it gets really thick like lemon curd, then you mix that with the whipped cream and add it to pineapple, white cherries (canned royal anne), and madarin oranges, mini marshmallows, and coconut. Let it sit over night and it's fabulous and luckily no longer stinks .

wow...it really does sound delish. i actually had the scramble situation when i made lemon crud a couple of years ago. i stood there and stirred for probably 20 minutes, walked away for about two minutes, and when i returned the thing had curdled...i presume it had cooked the eggs.

edit: i presume at the curdled stage it was lemon cRud.

Since this is the first major holiday since Mom died, we are going to go to a wonderful brunch at one of the hotels here. We will all come back to our new home and sit and rub our bellies and visit. We are all trying to find our new normal.

My MIL passed away in Sept. We haven't lived near her for a few years but it's not going to be the same either. "The new normal" sums it up pretty well.


y'all are a chatty bunch, it took me almost all evening to catch up. It would be so much easier if my boss would let me have internet access.

I'm just thinking of all of the trouble most of the women in our family and many of my friends have had with their husbands' families. It's all combined one reason I'm a bit leery of marriage myself.

Is that a cake you ordered in WDW? If so, what restaurant was that? That looks AMAZING! It's beautiful.

I got my birthday cake this year from Boardwalk Bakery, and while it was very cute, it was a simple edible screened image on top with blue ribbon frosting trim, like on cakes from regular bakeries, plus some fancy white swirls on the side. Even getting them to put an image on it was like pulling teeth.

That is DD#2's birthday cake from this past May. We were at CRT and had cake with breakfast. It's the strawberry custard filling in vanilla cake. It was so good!!! I designed the cake and it was murder getting through to someone to get it just the way I wanted it. All the hours on the phone were worth it though because it was amazing. The staff was still marvelling over it when I picked up the left overs for dinner.

MMMM WDW cake! That cake is absolutely gorgeous! We were just talking about AKL's cake on the way home from hockey. I used to have a pic of it in my signature, though I have no idea where the pic went or what server I had it on!

My dd will be 23 in a month.. I think that makes me one of the old ones, BUT I can still do the wild rumpus dance!

Who made hockey schedules? I should not be coming home just before midnight on a school night!

What size was it? Who did you deal with over the phone to get it? They kept trying to get us to use the Cake Hotline, but we finally actually got through to Boardwalk.

And, feel free not to answer this, but... how much did that cost? If mine cost $50-something, I hate to see what the price tag was on that one! That's the kind of extra special cake I wanted, but was told nothing else could be done other than a single edible image on the cake.
