So, DH just told me that Rush thinks Hussein is setting HC up for a fall with the SOS position. The thought is that Bill's money that he gets from overseas (?) will disqualify them.

Here are my thoughts....if that's the case, I'm sure Hillary's savvy enough to figure this out. Soooo, if this is what's happening, I think she'll let Hussein disenfranchise her once again. Then she can quietly work behind the scene to make sure Hussein is a flop, blame it on him, and run for the dem spot in 2012 regardless of his incumbancy.

Ok, taking off my tin foil hat to hear what y'all think....

I don't quite have it all worked out yet, but I KNOW that The One is offering it to her because it provides some sort of advantage for HIM. He's a political animal, and he HATES the Clintons. I think it's more likely that he'll give her the job, and then "remove" her in a couple of years for being ineffective, thus labeling her as the failed Secretary of State ever after. He certainly isn't going to give her any diplomatic success stories to run on next time around. She ought to tread very carefully, because this is all about HIM gaining political advantage over HER.

See, the interesting thing to me is that Barack Obama has never been loyal to a single person in his entire life. His political career is absolutely littered with the corpses of people he's thrown under the bus. His start in politics, in fact, came because he screwed his mentor out of her state seat. So I ask you, WHY would anyone who hopes to have a future in politics go to work for this guy? Really. Why? He is going to be a one-man wrecking crew of democrat political careers in D.C. I mean, I'll enjoy the heck out of it as an observer, but haven't these people who are giving up House and Senate seats to become this guy's next victim got a brain?

Please be in prayer for my aunt. She fell and broke her hip Saturday. She has been staying with my mom because her rental home was foreclosed on so my mom found her lying outside after she fell. My mom is very upset because this is bringing back bad memories of my dad in the hospital and his death earlier this year. I may be taking a trip down there to help.

Welcome! Yeah, things can get a little vicious "out there" sometimes, but if you stick to this thread and the fluff threads you should be okay. Just stay awaaaaaay from the controversial threads. There's not a lot of constructive debate around here (out there, that is) from what I've seen. It just turns real nasty, real quick.

Hey, over on the OS thread they're comparing GWB to Ahmadinejad and suggesting that Obama needed Secret Service protection when he visited Bush at the White House. Ummm, that's when they aren't lamenting all the "hate" on this site.

I agree. But my gut tells me that HC is no dummy. she has to be aware of this. I think this is an interesting political dance, and I can't wait to see what happens. I just can't see Hillary making a move that would hurt her politically.

My other all-time favorite Christmas movie is The Ref. DH and I have a tradition that we watch it every Christmas eve.

You can definitely count me in the camp of people who do NOT believe "everyone should vote." Like, for instance, if a person can't actually register himself to vote, he shouldn't vote. A basic civics test before voting would be a good idea, oral or written, whatever. I know that's a pipe dream, but imagine the government we'd have if idiots couldn't vote or have their votes "cast for them." I mean, Al Franken is a freakin' candidate for the U.S. Senate — and he almost won! Al Franken! The guy is a total wacko, and hundreds of thousands of people voted for him. Why? Because he had "D" after his name.

i agree...something like this anyway. especially newcomers who may not have been receiving accurate information in their country's media. you can vote AFTER you have taken numerous u.s. history and u.s. government courses and passed. and only after being here for a minimum of 10 years and AFTER giving up citizenship to another country. i know this is wildly unpopular thinking, but if you vote poorly, you then dislike the results, you get to escape to your home country? no! you vote and stay here to deal with the results. (crawling back to hide behind something now...)
