I really enjoy people who have such a flair for the dramatics.:rotfl: So is anyone here part of the "bunch of folks" who declared that racism is dead??:confused3

I never sad it was dead, but I did just post on that thread and said that race as an overriding American issue has been effectively shelved by the Obama election. It has. I'm sure the responses to my post, though, will be vitriolic. The left really likes the race issue. They won't let it go quietly. Too much money to be made.

In fact, here's a link about Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan holding a big 'ole meeting to make sure they can still make money off of race.

i heard exerpts from you-know-who's book, dreams from my father, (in his own voice from books on tape) and he sounded pretty intolerant of caucasians, i must say.

Hi guys. I've not been on for several days. My father passed away Friday. This, plus the fact that me and my DD have been sick has left me pretty bummed right now -- I haven't even watched the news since last Friday. I'll try to get caught up with you all but I am going out of town the rest of this week for work. Anyhow -- didn't want you to think I've abandoned you guys.

 I'm so sorry AP. Wish I was more eloquent but you're in my prayers.

Maroons- as someone here posted, they won and they still aren't happy. Reminds me of the bratty kid who opens 100 presents and then pouts because there aren't more.

Like the new avi, Zip. :thumbsup2

The song "Wind Beneath My Wings" always reminds me of the farting sound you can make with your hand in your armpit. :lmao:

Did your ears bleed and your head hurt and your throat get raw from throwing up?

I thought he didn't know his father. He only saw him 1x after he was 2. Must have been the dreams of someone else's father.

The OP of that thread screwed up. He could have opened it up for a discussion on racism, but he chose to preface it by stating that here on the DIS there are "a bunch of folks" who have stated that racism is dead in the USA. So in his attempt to chastise fellow DISer's for something that I have yet to see, he removed the focus from the actual acts that he wanted attention given to. Then again, perhaps a discussion about racism wasn't his actualy goal, but rather to continue a divisive atmosphere. Who knows, and such gross over generalizations will just leave many feeling dismissive.

:lmao: Honestly, have you ever seen such a bunch of malcontents as those whom are OS? Always looking for trouble. It really is such a shame. It's like they are afraid to be happy and always on the look out for the next catastrophe or manufactured problem.

would it be rude to just reiterate this and point out who the president was in august of this year?

"Negotiators have finalized a deal which will see the complete withdrawal of US troops from Iraq by 2011, the top Iraqi heading the team told AFP Friday."

i'm just sayin', you-know-who didn't have anything to do with this, and i'm NOT gonna sit down and listen to the guy claim credit for "ending the war in iraq". so there.

I am not Caucasian! I am Irish-Russian-Austrian-American, and insist you refer to me as such! I've never even BEEN to Caucasia!

Sorry.... I'm warming up for my fight against political correctness that I get in every year around Christmas- oops, that should be the "holiday season"! :p

You should join us at our Whack-A-Tree Anti-PC rallies. BTW, we haven't had one of those in awhile....:rolleyes1

Ideas for you as a WAHM:

make quilts! I have a friend who did this. She sewed and then paid some women at a senior citizens day program to do the quilting. I have 4 of them!

alterations-You could make a fortune. $15-$20 for a simple hem! A lady in our smallish town-20000- has opened a business doing this and she is busy all the time.

clothing construction- My DSIL is +sized and has a seamstress who makes all of her special occasion clothes. She charges $500-$900 and that doesn't include the fabric!!!! That is strictly her fee for constructing the garments.

I agree with this. JB, I remember you posting a pic of one of your quilts that you were working on before. You could make them and sell them to people in your area, and put some on Ebay as well. If I saw one that was "right" for me, I'd buy one from you gladly.

Just have to post - I'm at Disney!!! We're having a great time. It's cool (67 for a high) clear and the crowds are light. This is awesome!

Lucky duck! Hope y'all continue having a great time! Eat a serving of School Bread in Norway for me! And maybe a sweet cream cheese filled pretzel from Tomorrowland too. ;)

Just wanted to subscribe to this great thread. Thanks.

Hiya! Hope you'll join in and post with us. :goodvibes

Hi y'all!!! I'm disappointed, I expected y'all to be on a new thread by now :lmao: . I still don't want to go back and catch up - too long. But I think for our next title it should be The Conservative Thread - don't blame us, we voted for McCain! :teeth:

Seriously though, I'm half glad McCain didn't get it - especially with the way he's acting now. We need strong conservatives folks!

Heh. I saw the video of McCain with Obama this morning, and I just shook my head. I know this will get some up in arms, but I'm seriously just counting the days until he pokes the conservatives in the eye yet again. Because he's a "Maverick!" Why else ya think I have always hated him saying "My friends..."? You aren't my friend! Don't get me wrong, I respect his service to the country so much, and how he was an example of loyalty and honor when he was a POW. I appreciate his stance on the surge and some other things. But otherwise, I am not a fan. Never have been, and the election did not change that.

Hey everybody... just checking in and wishing every one well. :goodvibes

Guess what! I just registered yesterday for a continuing ed event in ORLANDO the first week of January. Leadership team features lots of creative types from Disney parks. The event includes a day in MK with some behind the scenes peeks, guided touring, and an emphasis on connecting with how Disney uses creativity (and how participants can use that in various settings). :teacher:

Sounds like I went into the wrong profession. I want a business related trip to Orlando!

AP, I'm so sorry. Y'all have continued to be in my prayers. I know I'm not near you geographically, but still please let me know if you need anything.

Uggh! It's too early for me to be getting Christmas greetings from anybody. :goodvibes I'm one of those scroogey types who bravely resists all things Christmasy until the day after Thanksgiving, then I turn into a big ol' sentimental puddle of holiday sappiness and joy.
:thumbsup2 I was shopping in Kohl's earlier this evening and my eye started twitching when they played "Here Comes Santa Clause!" :lmao: NOOOOOOO, it's too early for this! Sigh.

Ever read MO's college thesis? That isn't so great either. :sad2:

Tell me where it is so I can fill up the Expedition, throw in my chain saw, and fill the cd with CHRISTmas tunes!

Oh, and you sounded quite angry in your post, too. I didn't see where they got that one.

I thought he didn't know his father. He only saw him 1x after he was 2. Must have been the dreams of someone else's father.

Someone mentioned "An Inconvenient Book". I just bought it Saturday. I hope it's as good as it looks like it will be. I didn't get my Books A Million mailer on time, so I got to use the sale discounts late. I also bought Christmas Sweater since a couple of you mentioned it was really good. Now, if only I'll stop staying on this site so much, maybe I'll actually get to read them. :surfweb: I doubt that will happen, though. I'll just get less sleep. :rotfl2:

Hi guys!!:cool1:

NO WAY!!!! I was just in Kohl's like 3 hours ago and they were playing the SAME SONG!!!!!!!:scared1: I just rolled my eyes and made for the exit!!
