yeah...i don't understand this "if you don't affirm my own beliefs, then you'll need to be vaporized" thing....

the political images and sites intended to be amusing...i appreciate the irony in most and the effort put into others. gotta laugh or what's the point in any of it?

Exactly, I can laugh at myself. And I can laugh at somebody else. As long as what's posted isn't intentionally offensive then I say let it go.

Yes, this thread is being "monitored," with the express purpose to shut it down. Think about that for a minute.…Let it really get into your consciousness.…Again, the owners of this site are free to ban whatever they like, but just know that there are people in this country who genuinely believe that silencing their political opposition is a laudable goal. Think about that. Just think about it for a moment. I have never once in my entire life tried to silence someone because of their OPINION about a political or controversial issue or a politician. Never once. I am simply genetically unable to do that. Free speech is the most crucial liberty in order for a society to be free, and it isn't always polite and it isn't always tolerant, because those terms can be defined and redefined to suit one's political preferences. Speech is simply FREE. And yet there are some who would like to tell us that some speech is less free than others. I find it just stunning. Thank God for the U.S. Constitution, and those marvelous little words preceding the First Amendment "Congress shall make NO laws…" Imagine if it said "Congress should be careful which laws it makes…" Lord would we ever be in a world of hurt. But, thankfully, our brilliant forefathers made it utterly unambiguous. Even an Obama-appointed Supreme Court is going to have a hard time getting around that.

Yeah, it stinks that some have to be so petty.

And ITA with the rest! :thumbsup2

I'll bet! ;)

I can't help it - I think this is so funny :rotfl2: :

This is what I just can't comprehend. I think we are all better off if we can discuss an issue freely. Give me your point of view....I'll give you mine and we can toss them out into the arena of ideas and debate them. Sure we may never come to an agreement, but we are all better of for having the discussion.

I think that when some people know deep down that they can't defend their indefensible arguments or positions, they take the easy road out and try and take away the other's right to dissent either through outright censorship or by painting them as a hate mongering bigot. I will never understand someone that has so little respect for the Constitution that they will try and take away another's right to speak freely.

I have seen this type of anger on both sides of the coin, unfortunately.
I just remember a woman posting a thread about her daughter who attended a Catholic school who was called into the headmaster's office and hit on the head by another student for being pro Obama.

I do not know where you are all from, but where I am from the hate for Obama lovers was and still is strong. It is overt. I know there are radicals on the left, but they also exist on the right.
Oh that's awful. I hope the parents are taking action on that.

We subscribe to Fusion (Glenn Beck's magazine) and it is always good for entertainment. Sadly, most of his satire is pretty well-rooted in truth.

I finished reading his book too- The Christmas Sweater. Excellent read, but be prepared with tissues. I am so disappointed we can't see the stage show, but I am going to his book signing when he is here in December.

Back to la la land for me. I'm in need of sleep and Jacob is snoozing peacefully for (hopefully) at least another hour.
I've got to read this book. Wonder if the library has it.

So now I need to get "Godless", "The Christmas Sweater" and "America Alone". Looks like I'll be quite busy for a while.

oh...and I forgot to mention that any of you guys who like Stephen King--did you hear what he had to say about our military last week? utterly pathetic. The guy is a waste of space:

Majority of our military have more education than he does, and you must know how to read to enlist, so I'd sure love to know where he gets this idea that our military is full of stupid, illiterate people who can't have any future anywhere else.:sad2:

I never bought any of his books, and I never will after hearing that.
Gah. I hate it when people rip on the military.

i received a 20 point infraction because of my cute picture of 0 with a plunger over his face. i suspect that unreasonable person on the dark side thread complained.

they have removed my picture for me.
I'm sorry. Bummer. I loved your signature. Made me laugh every time.

Hey ya'll. I have something happy to share.:goodvibes Dillard's had a special event in the cosmetics department tonight. They had food and door prizes. They gave away 15 gift baskets, a Coach handbag and a $500 shopping spree. I was looking at handbags.....wishing I could buy a nice one for my ex-daghter-in-law. They have had a string of incredibly bad luck. (She just started reading Dave Ramsey...hoping to start anew.) Anyway, she had talked about her girlfriends buying new handbags and she didn't know when she could EVER do that. Yeah, you know what happened...I WON A $400 COACH HANDBAG!!!! She's getting it for Christmas. I have nice things and so do my daughters. The ex-daughter-in-law deserves something special right now. I'm soooooooo excited!!!:cool1:  :dance3: :cool1:
That is so incredibly cool! You are a great person!

Oh, these are the people in your neighborhood, in your neighborhood, in your neigh-bor-hoooooood...

BWAAAAAA!!!!! This is GREAT!!!

Off to work in the basement. I ran out of file folders last night, so had to go out and get more after church. Everyone has had lunch, DH is painting the trim in the bedroom and I'm off to the basement to finish up. I'm hoping and praying that I'll get it all done today.

Take care everyone - have a great day today. Don't let the OS get you down. :)

call me retentive, but JUST LOOK at how those chair legs are lined up on that rug!!!!:wizard:

Whoever lined up those chair legs is a man or woman after my own heart. I want to make the whole world symmetrical! That's why I couldn't have another child. That would have made a family of 5 — asymmetrical seating in a restaurant booth! I just can't have that, so I would have had to have another baby to even it all out! :rotfl2:

Someone may have mentioned that we are hate filled.............:rolleyes1

Just provin' them wrong :wizard:

I hate mushrooms, and I am real up front about that. I don't care if it offends the pro-fungus crowd. It's my right to hate mushrooms, and it's my right to say so. Yup, I hate-ity hate hate mushrooms. So there.

Absolutley!
I'm with the green and red pepper hatin' crowd. I hate them. No one is gonna force me to eat them. So there. Pro-pepper people can kiss my grits. :hippie:

Ok- my OS in-laws will be here any minute. Wish me luck. :scared:

When you open the door, scream "IT'S OBAMA'S FAULT! IMPEACH OBAMA!" and then just fall on the floor laughing. It'll break the ice.

OK, just kidding. Good luck with that. Remember, it's a sure thing that you'll get a prime opportunity very soon in the future to say, "Wow, glad I didn't vote for that guy."

Both campaigns have technically ended. The election is over. Therefore, ANY Obama artwork in their signatures is technically NOT "official" campaign materials.

How about removing ALL political materials from signatures? THAT is the fairest solution? And, we wouldn't have to worry about what is "offensive", etc.

Exactly! I'm kind of wondering why it is okay for the OS to endlessly post "offensive" bashing threads regarding Bush/McCain/Palin/Conservatives/Republicans/Christians/Catholics, yet a non-supportive pic of a candidate, namely Obama, is not allowed. This just reeks of partisan censorship, and I find it appalling, especially with the level of hatred that some of the aforementioned threads generate.

No, you should do that. :lmao:

Actually, the chair Obama is sitting in is a *smidge* closer to the centerline of the rug.

But it doesn't bug me...

much.
