Here is a great example of high tax rates. :scared1:

After Taxes, World Series Winner Finishes Second

The World Series of Poker ended this week at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and Denmark's Peter Eastgate (pictured above) became the youngest-ever winner of the world title. He is very much the new breed of player: 22 years old, Danish, mathematically brilliant, who gave up a fledgling career in accounting to "turn pro."

As the winner of the main event Peter won about $9.2 million, but would he actually end up with all that money?

Denmark's tax rate is 45% on the first 4 million Danish Kroners (about $680,000) and 75% on income above that. Mr. Eastgate will owe about $6.7 million in Danish taxes, and will get to keep only $2.5 million of his winnings—just 27.23% of his prize. In other words, he faces an effective tax rate of 72.77%. Ouch.
Ivan Demidov of Moscow finished second and won $5.8 million. Russia has a 13% flat tax rate, so Mr. Demidov will owe about $755,247 to the State Taxation Service of Russia. After taxes, Ivan will still have more than $5 million, more than twice as much as the first place Danish winner.

I wonder if this is what H's tax plan will look like.:rotfl2:

It's not even Thanksgiving but look what I'm watching. :rotfl:

Do you want to know my take? I think people want the beliefs changed because they want the church to accept the sin. I think they think if that church says it's okay then God will say it's okay. They choose to ignore the parts of the Bible they don't like and think everyone else should accomodate them.

This is how I feel as well. In fact, I had a whole paragraph talking about it in my post. But I figured I was crossing into essay territory rather than a message board post, so something had to go. :lmao:

I normally see AND talk to her a couple times a week. It's pretty obvious I've been avoiding her. I'm going to call her tonight. I have to bite the bullet sooner or later...might as well be now.

GL, TLSnell. And you too when you see your fam, blestmom. Luckily, everyone in my immediate family voted for McCain, so I don't have any political unpleasantness to dread as the holidays approach. I'm not sure who my aunt and uncle voted for, but they don't talk about politics usually. So I doubt I will ever know. Frankly I think I'd rather not know, lest I hear something I don't like. :rolleyes1

I wrote this all out last night, then ran into server errors. Luckily I was able to back track so I could cut and paste.
That's a good question. Do they/did they ever sell a soundtrack to this? Unrelated, but do you enjoy staying there? I visited in 2005, and didn't really like it. But I remain intrigued just because of the animals. So I'm always waffling on whether or not I'd like to stay there some day.

And I think all of us who never heard of that website until wonderlanne mentioned it and linked it owe her a Mickey ice cream bar or something like that, stat. :rotfl:
As you can see from my signature, I've been there many times. What it doesn't say is that my first stay wasn't my decision! AKL wasn't on my radar/list of places I wanted to stay. I had a meeting in Tampa and called my mom up to see if she wanted to meet me and I let her know that I was taking Sunday and Monday off to go to Disney since I was down there. I let her pick the resort! I took my mom on her first ever trip to Disney, and our first ever AKL trip.
It was love at first sight. The sounds, the smells, the ANIMALS out on my balcony! It was so nice relaxing with a bottle of wine, with the animals down below.

DS and I went next and I booked akl concierge. I requested the same area, at the VERY end of the hallway. Their concierge ws fantastic and my son, who was younger then, didn't say "can we go can we go can we go to the parks now?" He would watch, too. One night he woke me up to come look outside. The two of us, at 3am, watched the tommies sneaking across the savannah, going from one area of tall grass to another so the pregnant ankole wouldn't see them and yell. We must have sat there for a good 45 minutes just watching them. You can't beat bonding like that!

Three more trips to AKL after that! I really want to go back.. NOW! Not in the cards right now, but I know there are 'raffes and ankoles waiting for me to visit when I am able to.

Put one foot in front of the other!!

Yep...I think you're right.
Ditto

 I find this suspcious. Can you imagine what the MSM would be saying if JM or SP acted in this way or anyone else for that matter?

Makes one wonder if they were really all that close? :confused3 I guess he has different priorities than some of us and does things as he pleases. I doubt those who support him see anything strange about his behavior as he is "The One". :worship:

and ditto again

The first time we stayed at AKL we took out son, who was about 5 at the time, out on the balcony to watch the animals. My wife and I were amazed at all the animals waling around. Our son on the other hand, was amazed at the truck that was divining out on the savannah with the caretakers in it. He couldn't have cared less about the animals!

We laugh about it now, but I could have killed him back then!

A lot was made a few pages back about the ability of Obama to bypass the media, etc...

Was this not EXACTLY what Palin was doing during the debate, bypassing the "Media Filter"?

There are really cute puppies on the puppy cam, perhaps you'd like to go watch? :) Here, have a flower!:flower3:

Hi! I've been busy and taking a purposeful mental health break from politics this week! I still love ya'll and will start posting more! In the meantime, have a flower!:flower3: :rotfl:

SorcererDonald - Did you see my post about the law student friend I have in Virginia? You two should really meet!

:rotfl2: I did! I asked you what law school he goes to. I have a friend who's a 3rd year at W&M, and another friend of mine graduated in 2007 from U of R. If he goes to one of those schools, my friends might know him. That'd be hilarious!

No, he's a third year at Liberty. He is tall (over six feet) wih blond hair. He is my best friend's cousin. His dad is a Southern Baptist minister. He is a nice guy - very smart, very conservative, and very responsible. His sister just started law school at Liberty this year also.

OMG!! I finally talked to my MIL. She tried really hard to be gracious....barely talked about the election....IT WAS MUCH WORSE!!! She wants DH and I to go to the inauguration:scared1: I couldn't believe it but, yet I shouldn't be surprised. She has invitations to one of the balls. She said, she knows I'm not a democrat (that's an understatement) but, "it's a historical occaision." :scared: She's sure DH wants to go. I know he could care less..and I'd rather have a "do-it-yourself" root canal...while, having my toenails pulled out...one by one. I told her we had vacation plans the week before...it would be hard to be gone that long. This is sad but, I can't and won't go. The inauguration is not something I can celebrate. I hate hurting her feelings but, geesh....she should know better.

**edited to add** I might could stomach the party but, the swearing-in..... That would be more than my conservative heart could bear.:sad1:
